1. @Tallaabo said: The guy(Ilaahay xajkiisa ha ka aqbalo) is like any other Somalilander who because of our country's unrecognised status use foreign passports to travel. It is not a big deal to use koonfurian documents until our own documents are recognised. Personally, I prefer Ethiopian, Kenyan, or the other African passports but koonfurian passports will also do. Inshaallah, once Somaliland is recognised internationally, those passports will clog our landfills and sewage pipes. I think our government should put in place a contingency plan to recycled those papers for use in newspapers and other purposes before the public discard them carelessly. Bang your head on the wall some more will you
2. I hope people in that region realise how much their leaders had duped them and wake up to smell the sweet aroma of Somalia. :-)
3. It is a excellent news for Somalia, but I would have preferred they come at a time when the two leaders were not trying to strangle each other. More importantly, I am particularly happy with the world bank head because we need investment in key public infrastructure programmes
4. Well, As I said on many occasions here, occasions when the usual SL propaganda machine here in Sol claimed I was delusional, I have the pleasure of showing you a video( so you cannot claim that I made it up), and it is an interview with a SL mp( so you cannot claim he is not a real lander), talking about and pretty much confirming what I had been telling you all along. I do appreciate the old Somali saying " hadaad dhimaneeysid dhareerkaa la Iska duwaa", and tht you feel the need to keep the dream alive, but for your sakes. Dadkiina wax la qeybsada! http://puntlandi.com/xildhibaan-yaabe-waxaan-ku-soo-xajay-passportkii-cabdulaahi-yusuf-calankii-soomaliyana-waan-hadhsaney-dee-meeday-somaliandtii-aynu-sheeganeynay/
5. I dont think so. Even saacid put up a much tougher fight than this and this PM is far more capable of a much tougher fight and has a valid constitutional point. He has the higher legal and moral authority in this instance. What I suspect will happen is that in his latest get together of the cabinet they will rule amongst many other things that the newly reshuffled ministers take up their designated posts. More than likely that almost all will agree. That will leave good old Farah out in the open and in refusing the order, the council of ministers will next here a motion to dismiss him which will be carried with overwhelming numbers. That will probably be the checkmate the PM will play.
6. @thefuturenow said: Odey, Before we proceed, let me say we are dealing with a flawed document--i.e. the provisional constitution. I do not disagree that the constitution affords the PM the powers that he exercised. It's just that they have been made suspect by the "recommendation" clause. It is vague enough to make this a valid political fight. As for the state formation issue, the constitution states that they have to be pre-1991 borders. So Mudug would have to enter as a whole under those terms. And all the new states will be excluded--including Puntland (formed 1998.) But the political reality is that Puntland exists. So why eliminate it? And can you? The jist of my post was that constitutional issues and how they are going to be resolved are the most important factors right now. That is why this re-shuffling has become a political fight. The president has very little in his favor and the PM knows it. I think the elephant in the room is the fact that this has nothing to do with constitution but it is an ego clash. There is an intense need by both these leaders for control, control of Government and the system was designed for "teamwork", sadly both of them are not looking out for the NATION, a a nation of poor, displaced, starving and currently bleeding at the hands of insurgents. this was the time for them to work together....oh and before malister starts pointing the finger at the PM, let's not forget this president had a very corporative PM before and he got rid of him. He has an ego which surpasses the needs of the nation. We do have a major fcuk and we need to get rid of both these muppets.

8. @thefuturenow said: Odey. It is not as clear cut as you think. Presidential Powers: (e) Dismiss ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers on the recommendation of the Prime Minister; (k)--Appoint senior Federal Government officials and the heads of the Federal Government Institutions on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers; Council of Ministers Powers: (g) Appoint and dismiss senior public officials; (h) Propose the appointment or dismissal of ambassadors, consuls and diplomats; Prime Ministers powers : (b) Appoint and dismiss members of the Council of Ministers; The PM just tried to pull off a major coup. Although, the powers to appoint and dismiss are reserved to him. They are not exclusive to him because they also give the president the power to "appoint" and "dismiss" ministers "on the recommendation" of the council of ministers. See the confusion? If the PM can appoint and dismiss the ministers then why "recommend" it to the president unless he has a say in it? PM STRATEGY: 1) The PM wants to expand his powers. This is the perfect time to do it against a weakened president. His signing of Puntland agreement was clear that a political battle was coming. And he aligned himself square with his kinfolk. 2) The puntland agreement regarding Mudug is crucial. Both sides have a case as to the legality of Puntland + North Mudug OR Mudug (partially controlled by puntland) + Galgaduud because the constitution requires that 2 or more states join and not 1.5 states. The implication is tremendous because it means the weakening of Puntland or Central state. In other words, either HG land or MJ land will be gerrymandered and weakened in the process. But resolving this issue requires constitutional analysis. That is why the Minister of constitutional Affairs CANNOT be Farah Abdulqadir in the eyes of the PM. Why the President Can't Let it Go: If the president lets it go, the PM has a strong case that the powers to appoint and dismiss are EXCLUSIVE to him without consultation with the president. An even stronger case considering that he fired Sanbaloolshe and the president didn't say anything. If the President keeps Farah Abdulqadir as the Minister of Const. Affairs, he wins the constitutional fight. And if you win the constitutional fight, you win EVERYTHING. Saxiib thank you for your comments- at least you are logical in your approach unlike some. If i may come back to a few points you made- You are right, presidential powers includes appointing and firing ministers but only after receiving recommendation from PM, whereas the PM has full powers to fire or appoint without needing any further authorisation. In this case,PM comes with the changes and the role of the president is similar to a constitutional monarch and he ascends the bill or recomendation passed to him. Let me be clear , he has other powers but on this issue that is his role. The PM has NOT fired or appointed NEW ministers, he simply moved them around and doesnt need any permission to do so. If i come to the state formation- Again the constitution says that "new" states being formed must be 2 or more provinces pre-1991 provinces and it also clearly says existing states at the time of ratifying the constitution are excempt from intereference in their territorial integrity. So, that means Puntland is out of bounds and the first agreement signed in Xamar was on the wrong side of the constitution. As far as the new state being formed is concerned, unless people are looking to create mayhem, why cant it be galgaduud, hiiraan, shabeelada dhexe and half of mudug, Alternatively if you have an issue with the division of mudug, why not add the remainder of mudug to Puntland, a state that has been in existence for 16 yrs and then have galgaduud, hiiraan and shabelada dhexe as a state. Again, that would be the logical solution but of course, that is not what they want is it?....
9. @malistar2012 said: Previous titles Prof. Saalim Caliyow Ibrow Ra’iisul wasaare ku xigeen ahna wasiirka xannaanada xoolaha dhirta & daaqa; The Man is Veterinary expert held the position several times , why switch him to Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs at critical stage? Bladly lost credibility spoiler on obstacle to the Gov Agenda and strategy , Baldly achievement are short coming firing Ministers unnecessary cabinet reshuffle is the highlights of his career. in critical time where the gov has to meet vision 2016 election completing federal states , defeating alshabaab getting ready for post Amisom and so on with time running out ? is it appropriated to have cabinet reshuffle that will bring set backs and confusion ? Its not the minister's job to go and treat the animals , the same way it wasnt a pre-requisite for farah abdulqadir to be a law expert prior to taking up the position of minister of constitution. What we have here is a president who wants to be the head of state. And head of government at the same time! If he wants to be the one that appoints the cabinet , he should resign as head of state and hope that the new head of state appoints him as PM. As it stands his statement last night was illegal and without a doubt unconstitutional. The PM on the other hand exercised his constitutional powers. One could argue that it was premature but thats all you could argue with. PM's all over the world with similar constititional powers exercise them regularly. You are defending the undefendable using spin which is quite frankly below par and boring. At least lie to us nicely!! Put your thinking cap on.
10. @malistar2012 said: Less then Year ago Landed In Mogadishu with No Vision or Agenda hired by mudane Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud Circle . Pm Abdiwali’s Job is to Implement Government vision six pillar policy strategy. How can the country be governed and the national agenda be implemented if he keeps replacing ministers? what was the reason for the cabinet reshuffle the country is progressing security and economy are improving significant . Alshabaab are on the Run . Federal states in south are completed . Farah Abdulqadir, a key ally of the Somali President The Man has achieved a lot reforming the Justice system and has Great project work Ahead of him leading Somalia to 2016 vision . He also took major role reconciliated the Jubba admin and FG . The Prime Minister is becoming obstacle to the Government policy to implement vision 2016 - The man is power tripping he is becoming selfish power hungry preparing for 2016 to get meaning position or run for President . The Prime Minister is directly igniting feud and set back by targeting President close circle . he will end up losing bad . Really?....... Guulwade caadi ah haye?
11. @Che -Guevara said: Article 100: Responsibilities and Powers of the Prime Minister • Head of government powers The responsibilities of the Prime Minister are to: a. Be the Head of the Federal Government; b. Appoint and dismiss members of the Council of Ministers; c. Present the Council of Ministers and government program before the House of the People of the Federal Parliament to seek their endorsement; d. Carry out any other function conferred upon him or her by the Constitution or by any other law that complies with the Constitution and its underlying values Thank you che. As i said earlier this was well within the powers of the PM as the head of the Government and all the President has done is look foolish, childish and un-statesman. He cant do anything about the new reshuffle and the PM will more than likely win this argument outright. In doing so, the President will loose all credibility and power will re-shift to PM. He will become a lame duck president . I am afraid he shot himself in the foot. You pick the battles you can win. Odeyga dagaal uusan ka bixi karin madaxa loo gashey . La
12. Good interviews . He explained himself well i thought
13. @galbeedi said: I was mistaken, I thought Bayle was among those shuffled. He is still here. Any way, the Prime minster has every right to shuffle, but he must consult with President. When a Prime minister has his own majority mp's in the Parliament , he could do as he chooses, but under the current agreement, the head of state must have a say about the composition of the cabinet. Second the Prime minister shouldn't be looking for confrontation at this moment. He must learn to co-exit. As some have stated , their is constant struggle for the future and the election of 2016. One thing is for sure that some of the ministers might have forgetting who is the boss. You could have been appointed from the Presidents circle , but you must be subordinate with prime minister. Actually, according to the constitution the PM has a clear cut right to reshuffle the cabinet and is allowed to completely change upto 10 ministers and bring in new ones. He doesnt need to take it to parliament . All he has done is move them around, no new faces etc. The president is only to be informed in this case and it looks like he has been, but should be consulted if there are more than 10 new faces(ministers). The president reacted badly.let me explain; He claimed that the new reshuffle is null and void- constitutionally he cant!, so already he is going against the constitution, Secondly, he had been accused of interefering with the right of the government( in the Somali constitution, government is the council of ministers led by the PM) to govern and he only just proved that point. What you will now see are two things; Parliament that really resents certain individuals, chief among them being Farah Abdulqadir will support the PM, also he cant approach parliament and table anything because this statement of his is unconstitutional. Finally the usual International community will go against him because he provided them with a clear point to use against him. Yuulka will probably swear in the new ministers and since he and only he can decide the sitting of the council of ministers, the new ministers will assume their roles. If and when that happens, the president will loose all authority from that point on and Yuulka in time will present small changes again and again until he has a cabinet that works to his agenda which should be the case. Either way, the president's interests would have been best served fighting behind the scenes. His new position has only made him very vulnerable. Interesting times ahead!
14. @Dalmar1 said: Its funny right, that only those comments of anti=secessionism sentiment gets altered or deleted, its as if the Admin is SNM member. Spot on mate!, Just because i made a valid point against SL, Admin are editing my comments to make them nicer to SL members. Is this site now an SL propaganda site?.
15. Can someone explain to me why my posts( that insult no party), are being edited? I can only assume they are being edited by someone with administrative powers. If you wish to change my words, better delete them all together, but editing my post is simply insulting my intelligence. I know what I wrote, come on!
16. Correction- its Sayidka, not Siyaadka As for Siyaad Barre and every other leader before or after, they all had their faults, but we can only judge them by their legacy and any benefit to the nation that outlived them. Based on those benchmarks, sadly despite a good start he left nothing but misery, disunity, heightened clan divisions. For the man that claims those that support him are just his clan- well i think it is you that is clan oriented. People across the country are divided on the late president and in fact he has more support with other clans than his own in the country, but of course you are the prodigy children of ingiriiska! For the record, the massacres in somalia were first commanded by reer woqooyi like colonel Dhagaweeyne who murdered almost 30,000 in mudug regions followed by colonel tanzania who repeated the same and also poisoning wells, something no one has done before or after. Both these men are prominent politicians in SL. Do you therefore have anything to complain about?.... No!. If anything its a case of Karma is a bitch
17. Tilaabo keeps saying "if we have nothing, why dont you let us go" Answer- somalis lost 2 million men defending that very same land from colonial powers. You forget- Somalis spilt blood for this land and as a matter of sovereignty will NEVER ever let it go. Look around you- all Somalis other than you and your fellow are all united on this point despite their numerous misgivings amongst them not to mention hostilities. They are all in agreement on this issue. Solution- go to Britain and ask them to move you to one of the many islands under their control . Ascension islands comes to mind- secluded enough that your dependancy will not be visible to mankind and big enough to house all of you.
18. Sadly for Silaanyo, a major seismic survey was undertaken by TGS seismic and the data did not bring back anything promising. Generally when new data is brought to the market, it creates a a lot of activity and is bought by everyone, yet this data hasnt sold for years now. That tells you something- nothing interesting there. The region offshore Somaliland in the red sea is relatively young and doesn't Look promising. So, bless him, he is trying to keep the dream alive but nothing is coming. Onshore, the only area worth looking is not his clan area. The province of sool is the only region within reach that has anything promising and that is fast slipping from him because one cannot drill in areas whose people aren't on board. The region is also quite dry and without many the sources. The human capital is small in numbers and that too isn't much help. The political climate is not in his favour either. A giant is awakening in the rest of Somalia. The federal govenment is gaining more clout daily and all roads are leading there. The world is more engaged than ever before and the FGS is pressing ahead on a united Somalia and the world is listening. The dream that has lasted 24 years is coming to an end. It is only natural that the die hards in that region want to hang on to the deep sleep and keep dreaming, but the realists are beginning to see. Solution ?....... 19. Galbedi, Big oil companies hardly do any exploratory work nowadays. They leave that space to the smaller, more streamlined companies that are usually prepared to take the risk. The big companies only come in or "farm" into their contracts after they either find something or show promising geology to them after a seismic survey. Similar thing is expected to happen with SOMA. They have a parasite/host relationship that works for them
20. Some inconsistencies with this speech of the minister. To start with, typical re-negotiations will take time. Issues such a block demarcations will drag things somewhat. The blocks awarded in the 80's were so big that they only had less than five companies covering the entire shoreline of the country. The practice nowadays is to award much smaller blocks, so that in itself is a major challenge. He also then has to deal with the problem of revenue shares. Previous agreements were all in favour of the commercial companies and nowadays deals are structured very differently as there is serious competition amongst them. Finally you award the contract. Note that from awarding to the commencement of project could be anything between 1-3 yrs and after several failed attempts and what they term as "dry wells", they may or may not find oil. The statement that we "shall" produce is therefore premature. Assuming they discover commercially viable amounts, it usually takes 6-10 years before the product actually reaches market. As such and despite all of us wanting to see this succeeded, the minister's speech in my view was premature at best, downright irresponsible at worst for giving such false hopes. Anyone that has ever worked in the industry will know this to be incorrect.
21. The fact that this article written by one of your own has infuriated you to this level that you have to resort to insults only proves the point. I see great realism on the part of the writer and he raised very valid points, points that none of you can dispute, they are facts so stop living a lie and instead face the reality. Maamul goboleedka Somaliland welcome back. Please re-register again for the correct ID's
22. Reprogramming being the operative word here. Sadly these so called politicians fed the people a diet of hatred and false hopes. It will need a real leader to do right by them. That said, the rest of somalis have the duty to help our brethren as well. The federal government should give the incentives needed to ease their reintegration.
23. I hope folks in Hargeisa read this and face reality. Recognition isnt and wont come. Dadka masaakiinta ah yaan la lugooyn. http://www.raxanreeb.com/2014/10/somalia-somaliland-a-ubiquitous-delusion/

Turkey would rather see tens of thousands of people being slaughtered like goats just a few kilometers away than arm a few Kurds.
