  1. Wow, First Somali person that actually sing! (I know there is K'naan, but I despise rap).

I'm disappointed in you, Carafaat! I remember nodding for many of the posts in the forum where you seemed to have problems with tribalism/tribalists but from the above statement it's obvious that you're one yourself! I guess in the end 'mahuraan waa caaws jiilaal'.

Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who understand! That's the 'look at how we created camels' type of verse that Boondheere was talking about earlier!

Thereby committing a textbook example of a straw man. That's exactly what I've been trying to explain to him.
  6. My family was Catholic and every Sunday we used to go to the largest Catholic Church in Africa which was in Mogadishu, right next to a mosque. I wonder whether it will be rebuilt once Somalia becomes peaceful.
  7. Wardheer - Samatar. :] The wrong song is available on youtube just in case you get curious - they have Xayaat posted as Wardheer. In my opinion the album of the same name (which both songs are from) was Samatar's best ever very easily.
  8. I agree with Blessed. You're certainly entitled to make a fuzz on your big day, but just make sure you can afford it! If you spend the little you've or run into debt you might end up like that couple in the play 'Beeney Waa Run' and you really don't want that to happen!
  9. N.O.R.F;784778 wrote: Did you say lazy? Yes, lazy, and this last post of yours was even far more lazier than the sum of all others. You say my logic is flawed and then you cop-out with 'for reasons given earlier'. You say my analogies failed to suggest what I'm arguing yet you failed to explain how. Most of your questions were all and in content: 'Really?' 'Maxa khasab'a?' 'Heh. What?' 'Did you say lazy?' or worse! You're either just really bad at this or you're just taking the mickey. Here is some real talk: go and restate what I'm arguing in your own words and try to take them apart instead of making intellectually lazy posts like the above otherwise save us the trouble of wasting both my time and yours.
  10. N.O.R.F;784545 wrote: ^Really? From what you've written, thats exactly what you're doing Saying punishment is a form of deterrent and therefore diintu waa khasab doesn't make sense (for the reasons stated earlier). I don't want to dwell on it too much. With all due respect, since the start of this argument, all you were doing was erecting a straw man. I've been more than generous with my elaborations and used illustrative analogies, all of which are now apparently lost in an intellectually lazy receiving end. Maaddeey of all people (given the nature of this thread) at least came up with an (albeit misled) example of sorts. This argument has been very much one-sided from the very beginning, so much so that it has now become quite frankly boring, so I'm going to leave it at there.
  11. N.O.R.F;784399 wrote: You seem to be saying people are afraid to disbelieve because there is a fear of being punished. To me, you’re inadvertently saying those people still believe (because they fear punishment from God if they disbelieve). This is bizarre, to be honest! I've no idea how you could possibly infer that from what I've said.
  12. Maaddeey;784207 wrote: ^You don't believe in God, but you talk about punishment and eternal live as you believe in it? Hey, we are not talking about me and what I might or might not believe, okay? I was merely arguing that the remark of the Koran saying one is free to believe or not to believe is not meaningful because there is a punishment associated with the second choice.
  13. Maaddeey;783887 wrote: Garnaqsi, consider this as an example: you are in school , if you do your best and study well you'll pass otherwise you'll fail. Qofkii wanaag sameeya waa la abaalmariyaa meel kasta, Adduun & Aakhiro!. Allah is justice. This example would only work if the school would punish you by, say, locking you in a dark room and beating you for the rest of your life. If one fails one's exam, one can still go on with life and be, say, a truck driver or a bricklayer. I can't say the same about the divine situation, unfortunately. If the person happens to not believe in God, they face an eternal fire. Thus one is not free to either believe or disbelieve to meaningful degree of freedom.
  14. Bluelicious;783923 wrote: Garnaqasi - You misunderstood everything. This was literally the first time I saw Oz and conversated with him hence why he said barasho wanagsaan because we didn't know each other so where do you get that me hitting on him from. Second of all if you have watched the video you would know what he was talking about. He wasn't talking about me but that he doesn't find the city Brasilia the place to be he would rather picked another city that's why he said feel free the world is big and go around it etc. because it was my opinion. You need to read things better next time the truth was right infront of you don't just make assumptions. Oh goodness me, turn your humour detector on! I wasn't serious; I was merely creating a humourous situation.
  15. One of the very few people I like from the conservative party. :]

Ps: don't know if its relevant thou. @Bluelicious He's either very shy or very clever! I like how he's tweaking the meaning of the expression. Trust me, it definitely means 'there are plenty of more fish in the sea'. Now, I didn't had to be following the conversation to infer that you have been hitting on him.
  18. English, Irish, Scottish, or Welsh. What can I say? I love Britain!
  19. N.O.R.F;783779 wrote: ^Well if you believe you will be punished for leaving the faith (due to disbelieving in God) then you still believe. i.e. If one stays in that faith out of fear of punishment then he/she still believes. Taasi khasab maaha. Mise anaa si kale wax u fahmay? No, I think you're looking at the situation from the wrong angle. This is not an issue of what the person believes and its validity. It's a question whether the given choices are free in any meaningful sense. I used an illustrative analogy, which you neither addressed nor appear to have understood: if I give you two choices, one of which you get punished, then there is of course 'qasab'. Humans were made by God an offer they can't refuse, if you catch Godfather reference, and you're making it sound like as if it's free choice.
  20. N.O.R.F;783769 wrote: Surely, the one who chooses to disbelieve, disbelieves (including the concept of heaven and hell). Maxa khasab'a? Yes, but he/she gets punished. That's the qasab. If I give you two choices, one of which if you choose you get punished, then there is qasab. You might choose the one with the punishment for one of several reasons -- for example, you might think I'm bluffing/lying. So that you're the atheist in this scenario. Even if the whole thing indeed is a big lie, there's still qasab because I'm trying influence your choices by fear -- and that's not even accounting for the misery of those who might actually believe that I'm telling the truth.
  21. N.O.R.F;783750 wrote: The pagans/athiests of those days were prepared to contemplate on those verses (and the Sunnah of The Prophet (PBUH). Today many of them choose science and everything must be in black and white (to them). What my good man is modestly sugarcoating is this. People at the time of the prophet were not as suitably equipped to deal with questions like that as some of today's people might be. They were basically ignorant. So much so, in fact, that they wouldn't even notice the inference which goes from the question 'who made the heavens and the earth?' to the conclusion 'God did it' violates the basic rules of modus ponens. This only says one thing about you, Maaddeey. Markaa galka seefta ka siib oo la dagaalan ninka.
  22. N.O.R.F;783750 wrote: ^How so? If choosing the latter, it means you don't believe in heaven or hell (unless you believe in another faith). Elaborate? I don't understand; it comes across as if you're asking me how it's possible for one to go for the second choice.
  23. Which side of the argument are those pretty girls at the start of the video supporting? I'm with that side!
