  1. neither...I don't like to wear dirac outside, it's too dang revealing, I might as well go out in a bikini. Don't get me wrong, dirac is cute, but it's too revealing. And guntiino...errm no, I have never worn that...it makes my rear end look fat.
  2. let's hope mogadishu becomes safe like garoowe. I love mogadishu!!
  3. well 5 five back@ Rudy, gosh you must yell alot too!!!!!!!!! Also, it is possible that somalis have connection with ethiopia, but of course we look better than ethiopians
  4. With so much attention from the white house on somalia, are we the next afghanistan? How about Ethiopia, are they planning to take over our country?
  5. we're somalis, why are we always claiming the lighter side of our past? for example why do we only mention arabs? Why do we not say we're african and live with it, subhan'Allah.
  6. what's next? Women can't put lotion on?
  7. That's absurd, and how in the world is it unislamic to watch a game? They shouldn't even be called "islamic militia".
  8. ^ It was as expensive as going to buy skirts at the nearest mall. So I opted for the mall, I actually got some cute skirts and tops alhamdulilah , the rest of my money ...gone with the wind. SO, these are the only clothes that will get me through the summer
  9. Hearing the adhaan is the most incredible feeling in the world. The first time I heard the athaan was just recently when I went to a muslim country. I used to wake up so early just to hear the athaan, and of course hearing the word of Allah being recited openly in the street. But, most muslims in muslim countries might take it for granted...I hope we don't.
  10. Chocolate wrote The anology is cute but i find it offensive because I'm sick of being compared to materials. I know the feeling, sometimes it can make you feel like even though they mean well (muftis or whoever) they make you seem like you can't go outside b/c your diamonds might get rusty or your gold might get stolen ...I'm guessing he means get raped. But the reality is women are used like objects in the west that says that women are free. If men and women are equal, why is it that when you see a guy and a girl jogging, the guy is usually covered up but the girl has to wear extra short shorts...why is it that women are exposing their awrah and men are covered up? I don't think that's equality. Society has made women think that in order to get accepted by men you have to bare it all. In fact, women who expose their awrah in mini skirts are seen as 'strong and confident' women. Cajiib.
  11. Justice I just got back from the gulf, and I saw no woman wearing that. They just were covered in their designer abayas some worth up to $600 (yikes).
  12. In the next 10 years insha'Allah I would like to become fluent in Arabic and Spanish.
  13. I don't think blacks are dumber than whites, it's mostly depends on the lacking of resources. However, I do find black americans rude, loud, have anger issues, and they like to attack any ethnic race even africans that seem to be succeeding.
  14. They're just trying to round up innocent muslims in order to justify invading muslim countries, what country is next for more muslims to be rounded up and arrested...stay tuned to CNN.
  15. socod-Badne, I sometimes doubt you are a somali and muslim by your comments, you sound like a red-neck most of the time.
  16. the analogy of the mufti was cute...
  17. Subhan'Allah, that made me nauseous...akhas!!1! These people are immoral, they have no values, they are worse than the devil himself. Why in the world would they want to have sexual contact with animals?!? ewww. It's possible that they would allow those things that this party is pushing for..after all this is their democracy to spread immorality.
  18. The reason as to why I choose not to get married is mainly because of the whole process of marriage and expectations especially from our culture.
  19. Justice, that's an interesting outfit, but I don't know if I'm that eccentric.
  20. ^ Being an asthethetic isn't encouraged in Islam. You can live your life, and still be a muslim. And No, i'm not 12, I just have to go to the Juniors' section because that's where the young adults female clothing is located, I'm sorry but I don't want to wear old lady shirts. Naden, I'm on a tight budget, and I don't think I can shop at those places for now. Covering your head doesn't make you any religious than a girl without a headcover walking down the street. In fact, that same girl might be more knowledgeable, and God-fearing than you. Secondly, wearing hijab doesn't mean you shouldn't care about your looks. I mean, it's already hard enough living in the post-9/11 USA wearing hijab, imagine how it would feel you walked down the street looking like you are from a village in Las Caanod. Not good.
  21. Why is it when you go to the Juniors' section of any store, most of the clothes are either tight, the pants meant to show your panties when you bend over, the shirts designed to show your midriff, arms, and back. And most the "modest" clothes are meant for older women. I don't think many non-muslim girls even want to dress in those revealing clothes, but they don't have a choice because that's what's available. Why is it that in America, or other western places it's acceptable for younger women to bare it all, what about those women who want to respect their bodies and wear looser, more covering clothes while still trying to look fashionable? Maybe I shouldn't ask, but I'm very not liking this. I'm tired of having to buy older women shirts that look well...older. The somali stores don't have anything fashionable, they just have the same uniform like skirts, and super baggy shirts (don't listen to me, I'm not trying to hate on anyone's business). Will American women choose to "cover up" soon? WIll they get tired of baring their breasts, backs and midriffs. Also, I see lots of somali sisters with 'hijab' with super tight skirts, and I don't blame them because of the cute skirts are always 'tight'.SUbhanAllah!
  22. why is it that somali parents, especially single mother's don't understand their kids? When I say "somali parents" i don't mean all parents, but the ones I have encountered. Why don't they support their kids, I talked to many teens in the west, and one of the reasons they've gotten into trouble is because their parents never seemed to support them in anything they do or any progress they made. I think our generation should change this pattern of parenting, and start supporting our children instead of saying everything is "ceeb" and giving them smug looks at their dreams.
  23. I don't think i want to get married, I'll probably adopt kids.
  24. Oh...Welcome brother, enjoy your time.
