  1. Well, raula and Qacbaro, i can see your hatred towards my two favorite teams, but to let you know "you two" the Yankees will beat the Twins and they will go all the way to the WS. And if that would not happen there will be some very good reasons, ok, i don't believe that the Red Soxs knows what it takes to be champions at all, at least not this year, may be next four to five years to come. I know that ppl don't like the teams that are very sucessful, and certainly, you two are no exception, if you guys hate the Yankees and Lakers it is ok, 'cause that is what makes great sport, you have some ppl that love some teams and you have some ppl that hate some teams, and that is what creates rivalry btw teams and sports fans. So, raula girl and Qacbaro brother it is all good.
  2. I'm planning to double major in PubH, International Relation, instead of International Relation, now i want to change it to Public Affairs and Manor in Leadership. Thanks for asking:

  5. Subxaanallaah: I have always heard such things, but never seen one. It is very targedy to seen someone who is or used to be muslim than all of a sudden became something totally different. A lot stuff is going on among our people lately, and it is very difficult for our parents to see and witness their children do something that is beyond their beleive. Subxaanallaah, Alaah ha inaga koriyo waxyaabaha qaar kood Aammiin.
  6. Bismillaah: I'm not married yet, but i can understand and i have seen so many mother-in-laws, yeah they are very difficult to live with. I think that the best way is to live apart, and if that is not possible then one has to suffer until things get better i mean she or the girl moves to somewhere else. Yeah, mother-in-laws deserve to be respacted, and the girls also deserves to be respacted as well, but the idea of living same place is very difficult and what makes the girls hate their mother-in-laws. Insha allaah sis it will be over soon, and before that take it easy no matter what. Jizaakal laah sis, it is serious issue and sometimes it needs to be discussed, and for posting and kind of seeing everyone's opinion on this matter. Although, I'm not in a postion to say or talk about this issue but than i felt to respond your posting here sis, and if my comment is way outo line, i apologize to you sis and to all the sisters who know and experienced this kind of sittuation. Jizaakal laah to all.
  7. well lulla, I think that Honesty is the best policy, there is an old saying that says "The truth sets you free" well, you are right when you say "My truth may not be your truth" yeah, but always being sincere and honest is good. Remember our Prophet Mohammed(SCW,)one of his names was "Muhammedul Amiin" do you know why he had that name, because he was honest human being, he always used to tell the truth no matter what. You are right, when you tell the truth people would hate you but remember ALLAAH would love you simpe by telling the truth, no matter what people say or if they hate you for that matter. Always tell the truth because it is the best.

  9. Of course, you can always marry a muslim guy than a christain guy. Our Islam religion would allow to marry if you are a girl marry muslim man, and if you are a muslim guy you can marry a christain woman. And it don't matter what he/she is, as long as he/she is Muslim. Hey Qacbaro, i think that we were neighbors back home. Just to let you know.

  13. On the Night of 15th Shaban, after Maghrib or Isha prayer it is traditional practice to read Surah Yasin and make special supplications .. Audio Fasting in Shaban to honor Ramadan: Shaban is the 8th month in the Islamic calendar and is considered one of the meritorious months for which we find particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad . It is reported that Prophet Muhammad, used to fast most of the month in Shaban except the last few days of the month. These fasts are supererogatory (nafl). Shaban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. The Prophet mentioned in a hadith, "Rajab is the month of Allah, Shaban is my month and Ramadan is the month of the Nation". 1. The blessed companion Anas , reports that Prophet Muhammad , was asked, "Which fast is the most meritorious after the fasts of Ramadan?" He replied, "Fasts of Shaban in honor of Ramadan." 2. The blessed companion Usama ibn Zaid , reports that he asked Prophet Muhammad : "Messenger of Allah, I have seen you fasting in the month of Shaban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month." Prophet Muhammad , replied: "That (Shaban) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting." 3. Ummul Mu'mineen 'Aishah ®, says, "Prophet Muhammad , used to fast the whole of Shaban. I said to him, 'Messenger of Allah, is Shaban your favorite month for fasting?' He said, 'In this month Allah prescribes the list of the persons dying this year. Therefore, I like that my death comes when I am in a state of fasting.' " These reports indicate that fasting in the month of Shaban, though not obligatory but is very deserving and that Prophet Muhammad did not like to miss it. The Night of nisf (mid) Shaban Various Islamic scholars have recommended special worshiping during the night of 15th of Shaaban. This is based on the saying (Hadith) of prophet Muhammad , the meaning of which is that during the night of 15th of Shaaban, Allah will say "is there any person repenting so that I forgive him, and any person seeking provision so that I provide for him, and any person with distress so that I relieve him, and so on until dawn." reported by Ibn Majah. This is the night occurring between 14th and 15th day of Shaban. Traditions of Prophet Muhammad , show that it is a meritorious night in which the people of the earth are attended by special Divine Mercy. On the Night of 15th Shaban, after Maghrib or Isha prayer it is traditional practice to read Surah Yasin and make special supplications for good health, protection from calamities and increased Iman. According to tradition this night has special blessings that are directed towards the faithful. Therefore, as much as possible, this night should be spent in worship and total submission to Allah Almighty. Fast of the 15th Shaban On the day immediately following this Night, i.e. the 15th day of Shaban, it is advisable to fast. Prophet Muhammad is reported to have recommended this fast.

Now the Yankees are AGAIN division champions, and they will always be two steps ahead from the Boston, so bro forget about the Red Soxs, they never be successful like the Yankees. The Yankees are like the Lakers (who is my favorite team by the way)very successful team. So, bro iska ilow boston.
  18. Prophet Abraham was born in the city of Ur in the south of what is now modern Iraq. Later he migrated to Harran in northern Syria and them moved to the Land of Canaan (Palestine) around 1900 BC. Maqam lbrahim (Station of Abraham) near the Kabah. The current structure encloses the stone upon which Prophet Abraham stood while he was building the Kabah. code: Abraham was born in a house of idolaters, in the kingdom of Babylon. His father Aazar was a well known idol sculptor that his people worshipped. As a young child, Abraham used to watch his father sculpting these idols from stones or wood. When his father was done with them, Abraham would use them as toys, riding on their backs, and kicking them at times. Then after a while, he would see these same statues in the temple, and people prostrating in front of them! Abraham asked his father: "Why do you take these toys to the temple?" His father said: "They are statues that represent our gods. We worship them, we ask favors from them, and we offer them presents." Abraham could never accept this this idea, and he felt a repulsion towards the idols. In search for the Truth Time went by, and Abraham became a young man. He used to watch the people entering the temple, lowering their heads, silently offering the statues the best of their food, crying and asking forgiveness from them. He could not comprehend why the people were worshipping the statues that could neither benefit nor harm them. They could not be gods, they have no power. God is Greater than what his people were worshipping, Most Powerful, Most Magnificent. One could not find Him sitting on a table in a temple! One night, Abraham went up to the mountain, leaned against a rock, and looked up to the sky. He saw a shining star, and said: "Could this be my Lord?" But when it set he said: "I don't like those that set." The star has disappeared, it could not be God. God is always present. Then he saw the moon rising in splendor and said: "Could this be my Lord?" But it also set. At daybreak, he saw the sun rising and said: "Could this be my Lord, this is bigger?" But when the sun set he said: "O my people I am free from all that you join as partners with God! I have turned my face towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to God." Our Lord is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and everything. He has the power to make the stars rise and set. Abraham then heard God calling him: "O Abraham!" Abraham said trembling: "Here I am O my Lord!" "Submit to Me! Be a Muslim!" Abraham fell on the ground, prostrating and crying, he said: "I submit to the Lord of the universe!" Abraham kept prostrating until night came again. He got up and went back to his home, in t peace, full of conviction that God has guided him to the Truth. Abraham invites his father to Islam A new life started for Abraham. His mission now was to call his people to the Truth. He would start with his father who was the closest person to him, and whom he loved so much. He said to him in the softest and kindest voice: "O father! Why do you worship that which doesn't hear, doesn't see, and cannot avail you in anything? O father, I have got knowledge which you have not, so follow me. I will guide you to a straight path." His father replied angrily: "Do you reject my gods, O Abraham? If you don't stop I will stone you. Get away from me before I punish you." Abraham said: "Peace be on you! I will ask forgiveness of my Lord for you." Abraham confronts his people and rejects their idols He left his father after he lost hope to convince him of the right path, and directed his efforts towards the people of the town, but they rejected his call and threatened him. By God, he said, I shall plot a plan to destroy their idols. He knew that a big celebration was coming soon, where everybody would leave town for a big feast on the riverbank. After making sure that nobody was left in town, Abraham went towards the temple armed with an ax. Statues of all shapes and sizes were sitting there adorned with decorations. Plates of food were offered to them, but the food was untouched. "Well, why don't you eat? The food is getting cold." He said to the statues, joking; then with his ax he destroyed all the statues except one, the biggest of them. He hung the ax around its neck and left. How big was the shock when the people entered the temple! They gathered inside watching in awe their gods broken in pieces. They wondered who might have done this? Then they all remembered that the young Abraham was talking evil of their idols. They brought him to the temple and asked him: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods?" Abraham said: "No, this statue, the biggest of them has done it. Ask them if they can speak." "You know well that these idols don't speak!" They said impatiently. "Then how come you worship things that can neither speak nor see, nor even fend for themselves? Have you lost your minds?" They kept silent for a while, for he got a point there. Their minds and their senses were telling them that the Truth is with Abraham, but their pride prevented them to accept it, and reject the idols they were worshipping for generations. This they thought would be total defeat. They started yelling at him and shouting: "Burn him! Burn him! Take revenge for your gods !" The Miracle: God saves Abraham from the fire. The decision to burn Abraham to death was affirmed by the priests and the king of Babylon, Nimrod. The news spread like a fire in the kingdom, and people were coming from all places to watch the execution. A huge pit was dug up and a large quantity of wood was piled up. Then the biggest fire people ever witnessed was lit. The fire flames were so high up in the sky that the birds could not fly over it for fear of being burned ! Abraham's hands and feet were chained, and he was put in a catapult to throw him into the fire. At that time, Angel Jibreel came to him and said: "O Abraham! Is there anything you wish for?" Abraham could have asked to be saved from the fire, to be taken away, but no, he said: "I only wish that God be pleased with me." The catapult was released, and Abraham was thrown in the heart of the fire. But God would not allow His Prophet to be killed, He ordered the fire: "O fire! Be coolness and safety for Abraham!" And the miracle happened. The fire obeyed and burned only his chains. Abraham came out from it as if he was coming out from a garden, peaceful, his face illuminated, and not a trace of smoke on his clothes. People watched in shock and said: "Amazing ! Abraham' s God has saved him from the fire!" Abraham debates the Babylonian king, Nimrod Abraham's notoriety grew bigger after this event and the king of Babylon felt that his throne was in danger, and that he was loosing power, because he was pretending that he was a god. He sent for Abraham. He wanted to debate with him and show his people that he, the king is indeed the god, and Abraham was a liar. He asked Abraham: What can your god do that I cannot? My Lord is He Who gives life and death." Abraham said I give life and death. I can bring a person from the street and have him executed, and I can grant my pardon to a person who was sentenced to death and save his life." The king said proudly Well my Lord God makes the sun rise from the East. Can you make it rise from the West? The king was confounded. He was beaten at his own game, on his own territory, in front of his own people! Abraham left him there speechless and went back to his important mission, calling people to worship the one and only God, God
  19. Just half a teaspoon of cinnamon a day significantly reduces blood sugar levels in diabetics, a new study has found. The effect, which can be produced even by soaking a cinnamon stick in your tea, could also benefit millions of non-diabetics who have blood sugar problem but are unaware of it. The discovery was initially made by accident, by Richard Anderson at the US Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland. "We were looking at the effects of common foods on blood sugar," he told New Scientist. One was the American favorite, apple pie, which is usually spiced with cinnamon. "We expected it to be bad. But it helped," he says. Sugars and starches in food are broken down into glucose, which then circulates in the blood. The hormone insulin makes cells take in the glucose, to be used for energy or made into fat. But people with Type 1 diabetes do not produce enough insulin. Those with Type 2 diabetes produce it, but have lost sensitivity to it. Even apparently healthy people, especially if they are overweight, sedentary or over 25, lose sensitivity to insulin. Having too much glucose in the blood can cause serious long-term damage to eyes, kidneys, nerves and other organs. Molecular mimic The active ingredient in cinnamon turned out to be a water-soluble polyphenol compound called MHCP. In test tube experiments, MHCP mimics insulin, activates its receptor, and works synergistically with insulin in cells. To see if it would work in people, Alam Khan, who was a postdoctoral fellow in Anderson's lab, organised a study in Pakistan. Volunteers with Type 2 diabetes were given one, three or six grams of cinnamon powder a day, in capsules after meals. All responded within weeks, with blood sugar levels that were on average 20 per cent lower than a control group. Some even achieved normal blood sugar levels. Tellingly, blood sugar started creeping up again after the diabetics stopped taking cinnamon. The cinnamon has additional benefits. In the volunteers, it lowered blood levels of fats and "bad" cholesterol, which are also partly controlled by insulin. And in test tube experiments it neutralised free radicals, damaging chemicals which are elevated in diabetics. Buns and pies "I don't recommend eating more cinnamon buns, or even more apple pie - there's too much fat and sugar," says Anderson. "The key is to add cinnamon to what you would eat normally." The active ingredient is not in cinnamon oils. But powdered spice can be added to toast, cereal, juice or coffee. Anderson's team were awarded patents related to MHCP in 2002. But the chemical is easily obtained. He notes that one of his colleagues tried soaking a cinnamon stick in tea. "He isn't diabetic - but it lowered his blood sugar," Anderson says. The group now plans to test even lower doses of cinnamon in the US, and also look at long-term blood sugar management with the spice. "Very good information to know" Thanks all

  21. SOMALIA WASTE IMPORTS (SOMALIA CASE) imports from Italy A. IDENTIFICATION 1. The Issue During the Somali civil war hazardous waste was dumped in this African nation by industrialized countries. The alleged perpetrators were Italian and Swiss firms who supposedly entered into a contract with the Somali government to dump waste in the war ravaged African nation. The issue of dumping in Somalia is two fold in that it is both a legal question and a moral question. First, is there a violation of international treaties in the export of hazardous waste to Somalia. Second, is it ethically questionable to negotiate a hazardous waste disposal contract with a country in the midst of a protracted civil war and with a government that can best be described as tenuous and factionalized? 2. Description With the abdication of President Siad Barre in 1989, the country of Somalia was thrown in a state of anarchy. The country is currently ruled by a series of warlords each holding a small section of the country. The rival factions have been at war with each other since the mid-eighties and a mission by the United Nations to stabilize the country has now ended in apparent political failure. The war led to a serious famine that was solved by the intervention. Less publicized was the exploitation of the Somalian crisis by firms who specialize in the disposal of hazardous waste. In the fall of 1992 reports began to appear in the international media concerning unnamed European firms that were illegally dumping waste in Somalia. By most reports, several thousand tons of waste, mostly processed industrial waste, had already been dumped there. It was also reported that waste was seen being dumped off the Somali coast into the Indian Ocean. To further compound the country's environmental problems, a storage facility in northern Somalia filled with pesticides had been destroyed during the war. The spilt chemicals and resulting fire poisoned one of the few sources of drinking water in the famine ravaged country. What caused controversy in 1992, however, was reports of a contract established between a Swiss firm, Achair Partners, and an Italian firm, Progresso, with Nur Elmy Osman, who claimed to be the Somali Minister of Health under an interim government headed by Ali Mahdi Muhammad. Osman had been a health official in the Barre government, but allegedly was no longer recognized as a government official by Ali Mahdi. Osman had supposedly entered into an $80 million contract in December of 1991, whereby the two firms would be allowed to build a 10 million ton storage facility for hazardous waste. The waste would first be burned in an incinerator to be built on the same site and then stored in the facility at the rate of 500,000 tons a year. Reports of the alleged contract outraged the world community. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) investigated the matter at the urging of Somalia's neighbors and the Swiss and Italian governments. What ensued was a period of accusations as both firms denied entering into any agreement, Osman denied signing any contract and the Swiss and Italian governments said they had no knowledge of the two firms activities. As a result of the UNEP's investigation, the contract was declared null and the facility was never built. Still it became apparent to the UNEP's director Dr. Mustafa Tolba that the firms of Achair Partners and Progresso were set up specifically as fictitious companies by larger industrial firms to dispose of hazardous waste. At one point Dr. Tolba declared that the UNEP was dealing with a mafia. Beyond the obvious ethical question of trying to coerce a hazardous waste agreement out of an unstable country like Somalia, the attempt by Swiss and Italian firms to dump waste in Somalia violates international treaties to which both countries are signatories. Switzerland has signed and ratified the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal (see BASEL case). Somalia and Italy have not signed the Basel Convention. The Basel Convention prohibits (among other things) waste trade between countries that have signed the Convention and countries that have not signed the Convention unless a bilateral waste agreement has been negotiated. Somalia and Switzerland had no such bilateral agreement. The Basel Convention also prohibits shipping hazardous waste to a war zone. Although not a signatory to the Basel Convention, Italy has signed the fourth Lome Convention. It is the only country in Europe to do so. Italy signed the Lome Convention in order to "prove" its good intentions with regard to the disposal hazardous waste. No reason is given for Italy's failure to sign the Basel Convention (see NIGERIA case). Article 39 of the Lome Convention clearly prohibits the export of waste to Africa as well as the Caribbean and the Pacific.
  22. Thanks nuune, you are the first person who said welcome to the site. Thanks bro.......
