  6. ^^ The timing of all these negative attentions on Obama will most likely work to her advantage – still I think today is the day Mrs. Clinton will withdraw from the race along with Mike Huckabee
  7. ^^Nice write up. But I think its bit premature to have that sort of expectations from him. First he needs to secure his party’s nomination than he can take on the xenophobia that has become the norm in today’s media.
  8. LG, I don't think you were watching the same debate the rest of the nation watched on the 21st. How could you even say Hilary was the stronger candidate after watching her painful struggle to make policy distinctions where none exists? Remember how she kept jumping to add one more thing whenever he spoke – clearly showing woman that is not sure of herself - even frustrating the moderators. She also lost an opportunity when she was asked to clearly explain how she will make the better president – her answer was basically listing all the countries she visited as a first lady without explaining or reminding everyone exactly what she accomplished in those tours. Where as he clearly demonstrated he has the sort of leadership style and good judgment the next president needs to reverse the nations shattered image. As for her out cry that Obama is discrediting her universal health care policy – he basically said more or less the same thing that night. Her plan will devastate the average low income family that cannot afford it and will definitely be in a worse position if their meager wages are garnished. If she had issues with his stance that was the time to defend it not cry foul when the other candidate is not there or accuse them the same dirty tactics she has been using from day one. by LG I recall Obama going for that same line that hilary had and even agreeing with her. That was until campbell brown came back and recalled a comment he made regarding his willingless to meet up with the communist leader without any conditions, then ofcourse he didn't seem so sure of himself after. Now this is simply not true. Maybe you got up to grab cup of tea when the question was asked. There was no way Obama could have agreed with Hilary even if he wanted to because the question was phrased in a such a way that he had to either backtrack his previous record or agree with it head on. Senator Obama made it very clear he will meet with any head of state without pre-conditions whether they’re our allies or so called enemy. He even when step further and said that is exactly what is needed in order to reverse this pre-conceived notion that ‘we are better than everyone’.

The Illinois senator took 76 percent of the vote, according to the preliminary final result. Hillary Clinton, a New York senator, received 24 percent. He did it again
  15. MEXICO CITY — Fidel Castro stepped down Tuesday morning as the president of Cuba after a long illness. The announcement was made in a letter to the nation written by Mr. Castro and published early Tuesday morning on the Web site of Granma, the official publication of the Cuban Communist Party. The resignation ends one of the longest tenures as one of the most all-powerful communist heads of state in the world. In late July 2006, Mr. Castro, who is 81, handed over power temporarily to his brother, Raúl Castro, 76, and a few younger cabinet ministers, after an acute infection in his colon forced him to undergo emergency surgery. Despite numerous operations, he has never fully recovered but has remained active in running government affairs from behind the scenes. Now, just days before the national assembly is to meet to select a new head of state, Mr. Castro resigned permanently, and signaled his willingness to let a younger generation assume power. He said his failing health made it impossible to return as president. “I will not aspire to neither will I accept — I repeat I will not aspire to neither will I accept — the position of President of the Council of State and Commander in chief,” he wrote in the letter. 17. DEKALB, ILLINOIS (AP) -- A gunman opened fire in a lecture hall at Northern Illinois University on Thursday, injuring as many as 15 people before he was killed, authorities said. DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler told the student newspaper the Northern Star that the gunman was dead. It was not immediately clear how he died. The university issued a statement on its Web site about an hour after the 3 p.m. shooting that "the immediate danger has passed. The gunman is no longer a threat." Kishwaukee Community Hospital said on its Web site it received 13 victims. It said earlier three to four had head wounds. George Gaynor, a senior geography student, who was in Cole Hall when the shooting happened, told the student newspaper that the shooter was "a skinny white guy with a stocking cap on." He described the scene immediately following the incident as terrifying and chaotic. "Some girl got hit in the eye, a guy got hit in the leg," Gaynor said outside just minutes after the shooting occurred. "It was like five minutes before class ended too." Witnesses said the young man carried a shotgun and a pistol. Student Edward Robinson told WLS-TV in Chicago that the gunman appeared to target students in one part of the lecture hall. "It was almost like he knew who he wanted to shoot," Robinson said. "He knew who and where he wanted to be firing at." All classes were canceled Thursday night and the 25,000-student campus was closed on Friday. Students were urged to call their parents "as soon as possible" and were offered counseling at any residence hall, according to the school Web site. Dominique Broxton, 22, a student from Oak Park, told the Chicago Tribune she could see two wounded students from her dorm room. "The ambulance took away two students on the ground right outside my dorm," she said. "I don't know them. They looked bloody." She said she saw a lot of confusion. "Students were running. People really didn't know what was going on. There is an intercom system inside the dorm. Someone came on and stated that someone had been caught. They said they caught the shooter and that we should remain calm and stay in our rooms. I am in my room now." (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) The Associate
  18. ^^ FYI Bill Clinton was a lawyer but did not practice much law. So what point are you trying make with this fact about Obama? And since when did that become a requirement to be president?

  20. Originally posted by Cara: This is what I love about Somalis. We are amazingly good at rhetoric. Just think. A woman is on her wedding night, is she getting room service in a hotel in Bali? No no, she has to start a fire with bits of scrap paper and firewood she collected, cook food from scratch and it rains just as all her hard work shows promise. And some lazy loudmouth who is watching her do all the work has the nerve to criticize her for not fetching his shoes. But we're lulled into believing he's anything more than a mean-spirited ignorant buffoon. Incredible. ^^ Waxaas bee Somalidii hore nin kadigan jireen

  22. I work 9-10 hours a day on average and take plenty of work home. Not because I like taking work home or I wouldn't know what to do with my self but it must get done. I spend the better part of my working hours in a useless meetings and the other part preparing for the said meetings - when all is said and done the day is either over or I am no longer inspired to do anymore work and waste the rest of the day on SOL. So you see it becomes a must to log in from home and get some work done in the evenings. I am not a workaholic though - Just blame it all on SOL
