    I wana know....

Hey there sis. there is a small but very good book titled(Understanding Somalia)by I.M.Lewis. also visit Mudugonline web site, there are history lessons from Dr. Saadiq Enow. good luck miskin
  4. Brothers and sisters, there is no place like home. that is a sad fact, sad because we have no home to go back to. regardless of what i have learned or what i have to day, that fact that i am an elien kills me.
  5. Brother, you have raised a valid point there. the problems of Qat are there for every one to see, but we as a nation don't see it a major problem. therefore,to do some thing about it we must first see it as a problem that needs solving. we can then think about different ways of tackling the problem. Regards Miskin
  6. The future of any society lies in the hands of its up coming generations. As a Somali man who lives in the west, I am stunned by the instability of our young generation. It is utterly disappointing to see so many young drug addicts, rude boys and girls who do nothing with their lives. It makes wonder, where does the future lie. Majority of our older generation are either warlords or tribes men. Our own generation (that is you and me are not any better) and our younger generation is completely lost. So is there a future?? Just an opinion. Miskin
  7. I don’t belief there can be any comparison between the past and the present generations. Our forefathers were men of honor and dignity, they faced their responsibilities as husbands and took care of their families. They respected women more and divorce was a one-off thing. Single mothers were unheard-of and wife beating was rare. Cheating was not known as wasn’t immorality. Justice was exercised and disputes were resolved promptly and fairly under a tree. Whereas the majority of the present generation lost their dignity in the civil war. They rely heavily on the welfare systems or generous relatives thus not facing their god given responsibilities. Respect for women merely exists and divorce is higher then ever. Wife beating is more common these days as men eat QAT and other stimulants and cheating is a norm these days. But i wonder, If the present generation as some of you put it are kinder and more romantic, why do so many marriages break (I know ilaah baa qadarey, laakiin sababtu maxay tahay(?. Why do we so many single mothers?. I have lot more to say, but I will leave it there for know. Miskin
  8. We all know that Hijab is an obligatory part of our religion and Muslim women must cover their bodies. However, some people see Hijab as choice, (wear it when you feel like it) while others see it as an oppression against muslim women. What do you think. Miskin
  9. HI ALL I THOUGHT THE MUSLIM NEW YEAR WILL BE SOME TIME IN FEBRUARY. WHY CELEBRATE WITH THE KAFIRS.
  10. Brother, the teaching of JIHAD is a fundamental part of the Islamic Faith, and i don't see why that is a problem. besides, i don't see your whole point of argument, i mean what cultural and traditional values were you reffering tom
  11. The place looks run down and delapidated, i wouldn't go there for a day's out, would you?
  12. what a fine idea sister i am touched by your courage and enthusiasm. lets get it off the ground.
  13. Well said manofwisdom, it is true that we are mistreated and seen as valueless people by many people. but are you as Somali person doing your bit? meaning are you contributing enough for this mistreatment and valuelessness to end.
  14. For Puntlanders, i dont think you have to defend Puntland as action speaks louder than words if you know what i mean. as for the independence saga i personally dont see the point of that coz Puntland is a rolemodel for the rest of Somalia for its relative peace and tranquility.
  15. Xalimo sister, what shall we call those of us who sympothise with the worlords in Somaliland (Patriots) i suppose. shall i say that was very hypocratical of you to single out Puntland and not mention the rest.
  16. Conquest well said brov, i sort of noticed that as well but didn't know how to ask people about it. i think the problem lies within us the youth, we are not taking our responsibilities serious enough. hope we wake up one day.
  17. Positive, we have a culture that is in crises. all the mentioned groups exist in our society. i do not know if all Arabs have muslim culture or if all Arabs are muslims. Khayr, wouldn't you help a brother with out getting anything in return, what happened to the brotherhood that ment to be between the muslim ummah, more to the point is that not the western way of life (individualist) that the brother mentioned above.
  18. African wellcome aboard sister hope you enjoy your stay with other nomads. i have been a nomad all my life, see i was born in BADIYO and my father is still a herdman, so unlike you guys i am still in the jungle.

  20. will we ever see a single somali currency, let alone the whole continent. the somaliland shilling he puntland shilling the Aideed shilling the Sudi yellehow shilling the Osman cato shilling and so and so forth
  21. Shaqsii, brov similar questions appeared almost every site i ever visited, it unfortunate our people are like this and there is no answer for it. but it seems to me that we somalis like concentrating on our negative sides and not on the posive ones. the only person you can change is you and the same applies to me and every body else so let us go back to our own selves. Latefa, sister your homeland needs you, it needs you education and expertise, America or which ever country you are at don't need you. and remember this my dear sister if you dont make the difference who will. peace

    Somali Fathers

this is an important topic, i must say and is somethind that exists in our community. i dont think somali fathers are in league with the likes of African-Americans but if the somali fathers don't get thier acts together then they will get there sooner or later. i know a handfull of those irresponsible fathers, but that doesn't mean they all are. let us pray for the abondened kids and their helpless mothers, let us pray for our foresaken values, let us pray for the return of family unity and dignity, let us pray and let us pray hard. peace
  23. there are two sides to every story, but all in all i think the little girl is making up stories just to be free. we all know that parents get bit carried away when they see little girl with a boy, but what she is claiming is bit too sexed up. Opinionated and Somalien u guys dont make sense.
  24. ppl seem to be shocked about pland's progress, i can only see more prosperity in the region.
  25. i think it is an excellent achievemtn for those involved and for the somalis in general and we should encourage and support such an achievement. will it attract students from accross the country? certainly i don't see why not. will it survive? depends on how its promoted and run. miskin
