  1. Ducaysane...maa cirkaad ka soo dhacday walaal? How is not knowing where the English language orginates from as opposed to which indho yar person is from where?Hadal iyo arag maa isku mid baa? This article reminds me of a while back.So I'm calling Universities in Washington DC and trying to get some answers on international transfer students ect...speaking to a admissions rep from GWU..... She:"Excuse me Ma'am what country are you a resident of?" Me:"England...UK" She:"Well you need to take a TOEFL" Me:"What's that?" She:"It's an exam for people of whom English is a foreign language" Me:"Do you know where the English language originates from???I was born and raised in ENGLAND!!!...How is ENGLISH a foreign language to me?...My first language is ENGLISH!!!!" She:"I'm sorry Ma'am but you need to take the test because England is a foreign country" *Dismayed silence*..... I then proceeded to hang up the phone.
  2. My writen is clearer then my spoken when I'm calm. Lakiin markaan xanaqo.....It's like the ayeeyo in me comes out.
  3. Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has admitted not knowing people speak English in London. The NFL player might want to check a map before he gets on board a plane for Sunday's prestige game against the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium. Crowder, who comes from Atlanta in Georgia, may be praised on the field, but confessed geography was not his strong point. He admitted he did not know until now where London was - or that Londoners spoke English. "I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries," he said. "I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that." Crowder added: "I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. "That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name." The Miami Dolphins are play the New York Giants at Wembley this Sunday in the first NFL regular-season game to be played outside the United States.
  4. Lol Ibti I've been hustling recently. It's a long istori lakiin I've been hunting down the executive board of the ULU for the past week. If you see a 5"11 and a half Halimo around R.Square then that'd be me!
  5. Hey Ibti if you're ever in the Russell Sq area again give me a shout hee dhe. I'm mostly in the ULU if I'm not in classes.
  6. The title did relate to my initial point I'll have you know.Something about profile pics. Pucca Lol Insha'Allah you will have 50 soon.I dont know any SOL'ers off my facebook (you and the newlyfound ibti aside) that I could invite so iga raali noqo babes
  7. Such a thing of beauty.... Cant wait to recieve mine.Would it be wrong to name it?Lol jk Ok what I wanted to know was, after speaking to many people about graphics design programs I have been told that it is best to buy rather then download? My brother is telling me to use his IT freak friend's resources..basically counterfeit stuff and other things he has manipulated..sounds illegal to me but forking out 100-200 quid per bloody program seems crazier in comparison?!
  8. Thanks everyone.I'm ok now alhamdulilah. Ghanima;Amazing advice thanks so much.I settled down an hour before I wanted to sleep by being in a calm room without the family's sheeko.I slept like a bambino last night.
  9. Skipper it's not right to assume.Where did I say anything about cyber relationships?Sheeko kale baad soo keentay wallahi. My long distance relationship was meeting somebody whilst on my travels abroad *albeit briefly* and then keeping in contact through telephone and seeing each other not so often.Cyber relationships are a totally different thing. So get in check walaal iyo dont put your generic assumptions down my throat.
  10. Hey guys; Thanks D&D.I cant stand the taste of camomile tea lakiin about the exercise part.My body is physically knackered but my head is buzzing. My eye problem re-occured lasy week and I've been on it since.Sucks since I am on vacation *argh* Dabshid; Why do that? It's only been a couple of days of erratic sleeping so far.As I said I'm not too fond of the idea od taking further meds just for my sleep.I need to sort this out myself. Thanks anyhow. Lily;I'm gonna try reading the Qu'ran. Thanks sis. I'm out. G'Night/Morning all
  11. It's almost 6am and I'm cruising through SOL (albeit with stiff shoulders) as nobody is awake in these ends. I see Val is online,as is Ghanima,Serenity and NGONGE.Haye Reer London what do you guys suggest. The insomnia has started ever since I was put on medication(eyedrops) for a eye problem that I have.I'm not too fond of taking medication for something that seems like a blatant side effect of another medication. Any remedies that you swear by?Caano and balaayo has been tried and tested.Anyone ever had the same problem as me?
  12. Umu-Z I know that somebody can lie in front of you lakiin you fail to see my point. The fact of the matter is it is much more difficult to figure somebody out when they are not around you as opposed to when you see them face to face all the time.Atleast when they are in front of you they cannot hide their body language where as when they are far away from you somebody can paint themselves out to be who they want to be and give you that on the phone.Face to face works best.A woman's intuition rocks and how are you to know if someone is TRULY sincere unless you have them infront of you like a guinea pig shifting and ish It's much more beneficial as a young person to have the person around so you can decide whether or not the person is sincere so that you can eliminate them as you said and move on.Time is precious!
  13. Everybody is different. In the case of long distance relationships bullsh!t talks.Empty promises are just that , empty.Aslong as both parties initiate somesort of a agreement within a 'healthy' timespan then it's all good.'Healthy' being a timespan that they could handle. As I said before everyone is different. In my experience long distance relationships are difficult. Not only because of the sacrifices you make but also the curtain that distance provides shady individuals with.ie somebody lying about/hiding a certain aspect of their life that would effect you ect.Luckily within the Somali community you can do a background check on almost anybody.Unfortunately though you cannot suss out/pick up somebody's effed up characteristics, secrets or intentions straight away as they are not in front of you so you cannot catch onto the body language. So for that part and based on my experiences I'm not too enthusiastic on them to be honest.

  15. I liked the last point that you stated although it wasnt a physical attribute which is what I asked about. Insecurity will get people nowhere! I'm out Mujahid, slumber party with my cousins should be fun since we're all past the age of 12 and this is shitetown VA so we'll make do with the what we have Have a good weekend walaal!
  16. Lol with the 4 inch heels I am your height,no lie.Brothers that are comfortable with themselves love it based on my once again amazing research Being tall has it perks alhamdulilah. Gone are the days when feebly announcing "I'm lightskinned" would get you away with murder.I never understood the whole craze to be honest lakiin each to his own I say! What's your preference when it comes to a female physical attributes.Spill

  18. Muj bada cas Excuse me *swerves neck* I dont know about Naomi lakiin give me a dark brother with a killer personality anyday. We all know that light skinned brothers are a little light in the brain dept, have a cra'p sense of humour and are not great chefs *puts on gloves ready to fight* .....lakiin height is a must.I'm 5"11 dammit imagine me with a 5"5 brother! Naomi there are great guys in London.I echo Lily's advice. It's all about the connections. Also guys are intimidated by girls in big groups so try not to look so subtle with your girls all armed up with rotten tomatoes ready to rough up Hebel (we know you do it!!!jk) Insha'Allah things will be good.
