  1. Haatu, Oba is his loss if he doesn't claim them.He will be missing out if he doesn't think they are related. They are way too educated and cool headed Somalis you will ever meet..He just needs to look at the young Harvard educated architect behind the Kenyan new constitution.

Haatu, just ask the old folks like us if you want to know more about the whole NEP region....

  2. Haatu,

Maybe MS subclan filling the heat from MQ sub-clan but the Wajir south is theirs. It is like a black person winning a senate seat in Mississippi...everyone has his space and they are nromally respectful of each others space. Now Wajir East normally used to includes the city and some small villages outskirts. This is a seat usually won by Oba Folks, but they can be challenged by the other small clans if a cosmopolitan popular person runs for it, but looking at the population wise Oba folks still outnumber everyone in that city. They are also one of my favorite people to live with (yeah and this even beats the close relatives I have with your folks)..Times have changed, but I doubt the properties and people moved

  3. I doubt it Haatu..this will NEVER happen. The Wajir South will always be Cagdeer constituency. Now they usually have little squabble about which sub-sub-clan wins, but it has never got to a point where Wajir South is taken over from Cagdeer just as it is impossible to be appointed Wajir West MP if you are not Oba folks..The city is divided by the big Isiolo-Wajir-Mandera road..One side is occupied by your folks and the other side by Oba folks...

  4. Ngonge, I can not pretend that there is NO mistrust that exist between Somali clan.I doubt too the President is there to perpetuate the status-quo of the Mogadishu folks.I believe there is a reason why Hassan Sheikh was elected a president and if we pretend that his election was illusory then how are they going to move forward? I'm not advocating them to follow him blindly, but they should at least accord the man the respect and power his office demands. There is a reaon why people have leaders and that is why Somalia has a parliament. This is an issue that should be taken upto the parliament and let the so called leaders make a vote. I'm sure the president will be happy to protect and follow the rules of the land.

PS I'm running to work, but will be back

At any rate, if this is the case there really is nothing for PL to complain about (unless, of course, the central government does not recognise PL soldiers and include them in the lifting fo the embargo).

Ngonge, this is the same question I was wondering when our friend Xiin pulled the Irirism nonsense on me (which honestly I had no idea there was a Qabil called so).I'm at loss to see how Somali government will decide NOT to include Puntland army into Somalia army.If the government pitched its ambition of forming Somali army ONLY to Mogadishu folks then we can all say Somalia we have a problem..It is not surprising in the least that our brothers from Puntland only want to oppose the formation of Somalia army based on clan paranoia. I will bet you my left foot if the primeminsiter or the president was one of their OWN we will be reading five to six threads everyday about the wonderful Somali army about to take off with the arms embargo lifted. For how long should Somalia be a pitiful helpless government?

I think even Somaliland will be concerned with a stronger Somali army, but why should Somalia care about when it should exploit the full range of option available at its disposal?

Maxamed Haruun was blinded by a mine in SL when he was a teenager - hence the glasses. Anyway, fair question and response there, shame about all the unnecessary buuq!

Is he really blind? Thought he was just acting cool with his reflective sunglasses...His question was full of logical hope and necessary, but devoid of courtesy and civility in front of the President. The drum beat orchestrated by the other guest didn't help either. The question was a valid one and one that required the president to not white-wash it off so easilly like that, but who can blame him when the questioneer is as belligrant as this qalidaan

  7. First I'm not the secesionist shill on this boards. They are plenty to fill that gap.As for me the republic is NOT appealing to me yet (and yeah in case y'all didn't know that is just my Secessionist bias).I'm yet to find an enobling guilt in my heart for supporting secesionist goal. I'm still a staunch supporter of Somaliland secesion. I have hopes that things will improve in Somalia, but not when MYRMIDONs are convinced to derail the beutiful bus about to take-off..It is only in the basic of seeing an elegant and enduring Somali government that drives me to call out bullshiits when I see one.

  8. Chimera,

You making it sound like this is a foreign army being organized. We haven't reached yet the helicopters lol...Xiin is just Kaaligii waax garaat...The replication of his bolded print and accusation of comprehension problems is just a cover-up of his barefaced double-standard that only serves to open a gushing wound. No one is disputing the need for all inclusive army and I'm sure it is only logical the president of Somalia to build army from all Somali clans. I doubt anyone will say in a straight face that the Smilling-Somali president is willing to support a moral canibalism of previous Somalia.

  9. Xiinow,

First I have no idea what the IRIRISM is all about, and my observation of your thread was pure intentioned. You have not produced any profound insights nor any timely counsel. All I read was pure Paranoia. At least we Somalilanders are honest and pure with our intentions. Instead of fostering a healthy debate that could helpfully stimulate further public debate over arming the military institution you copied and pasted an article full of paranoia. This only lead me to believe that you are only championing a block to resolutions and advancement of Somalia policy.

You can be critical of the government without brushing the whole government policy as a sort of a one clan driven agenda. In the spirit of your Somalinimo, look more closely at what the options are for the current legitimate government that is supposed to protects its borders and Country! We all know soon or later the government needs Military institution. For how long should Somalia stay like this at the mercy of foreign military. Are you critics going to convince the government to recruit soldiers from other areas or just simply cry foul whenever a new government that is not lead by your clansmen? .

How is legitimately elected government going to move forward if everyone is as paranoid as you are? Somalia will be in a rough ride if you Unionist are not honest and Patriotic with each other! Institutions will not fall from sky one bright day when all Somali people decide to partake in their government. It will only occur through engagement and pure intentions.Thats all and I think that has nothing to do with any ISM you are insinuating!

  10. Xiin, reveals the crass language of Somali clan politics and his wishy-washy support of Somali government (or lack of his support for policies of pragmatic patriotism). One minute he singing the Kumbaya for the blue Somali flag and government only to take it back immediately like an Indian-giver...You can't accuse the very same government you support as bloody-minded one clan project (as the whole article insinuates) . The army is suppose to be for the government you support.Your above statements reveal a level of hypocrisy and deceit.I doubt a government you dearly support will callously put your Somalia in peril. You are either fully in support of the government reviving its old institutions or you are just a phobic clanist looking to cut the head of the next snake slithering towards your clan...

  11. Just raise your hands to Allah, and make sincere dua'ah and everything will be clear as it can be! And when you decide to go down the blessed road just remember this;

"Woman is like a rib: If you try to straighten it out you will break

it." (Al-Bukhari/Muslim). They require a lot of patience. You gotta treat them kindly and you have to swallow your pride sometimes.

  12. There is a sharp distinction between attacking a clan and shaming warlords. However painful this process is going to be,this is a needed discussion. Somalis should take the necessary first step toward dealing with yesterdays Warlords. Maybe this will not bring the Somali clans closer to a settlement. To the contrary it may exacerbate differences and may even create mistrust, but to deter future warlords we need a culture of shaming!!.

It is both ethical and universal to distance yourself from any corrupt leaders. It is the only way we can shaken-off the Somali curse of glorifying corrupt leaders! Only way we can file down any future Warlords fangs is to create a culture of shaming them. This will only foster a growing mood of political sobriety and civility in our people. Now we just can't organize a get-together in a restaurant and start bashing clans, but the wise ones among us can organize a grassroots campaign to bring the shame in the out for the world to see

  13. I knew they do those stuff, but i have never met someone that had done it..I spent half an hour with him yesterday to explain to me how it worked. I told him the American citizenship should worth more than the dowry they were all asking..

  14. My Muslim neighbor just came back from India. After four months of newspaper advertisement and countless interviews he found a suitable mate for his college graduate daughter! I used to hear that in Indian culture economically it is more taxing to have a girl than it is to have a boy because you have to pay a dowry to the man’s family whom your daughter is to be married to.My neighbor explained to me that he basically paid the man and his family.Gave them a college educated American citizen daughter for nothing...Weird culture....
