LANDER;875165 wrote: A humanitarian and real Somalilander is what Edna is Mashallah. She doesn't make excuses for being a Somalilander unlike you which is quite unfortunate XX. When some random like Oba (who problably reads at a 5th grade level) disrespects one of our most prominent elders you manage to make excuses for her being a Somalilander? How about explaining to this reer konfureed that in Northern culture we don't talk so loosely about our elders especially ones to whom the nation owes a debt of gratitude. Wax kala danbeyn la yidha aya wadan keena jira. A nobody who's entire ancestory cannot hope to have accomplished a quarter of what Edna has done doesn't open his mouth and talk wrecklesslly where I come from . For he will be chastised by others. At the time of her speech Al-Shabab ruled most of Somalia and the most profitable business men of Somalia happened to be the Pirates, I suppose truth does hurt but that is not Edna's problem! You demand from people to respect Edna despite her degrading clannish remarks because you state the northern culture calls for respect toward elders. By the same token you decided to insult Oba’s whole line of ancestors with your statement “his entire ancestry cannot hope to have accomplished a quarter of what Edna has done”. So you have studied thoroughly all Oba’s ancestors and know for a fact that they combined through many generations have accomplished nothing close to your Edna? You want to take the liberty to insult others but you want to hold those from your clan on a pedestal. Being from the North myself I don’t know where in the north they practice that one-sided respect. So let me educate you the Somali culture calls for respect toward elders regardless of their clan affiliation. However, someone like Edna who put herself in a spotlight and decided to demean and degrade her fellow Somalis publicly then whatever people call her it is something she asked for.

This was much needed reminder. May Allah swt reward you for sharing this article. I personally have no problem with reading any surah in the Quran and do understand fair amount of it. But, I need to learn tajweed. And also I lack discipline so actually scheduling when l would read the Quran just like everything else in life is a must. Regretfully, many of us the quran spends more time on the shelves than being recited. May Allah swt guide us and make us steadfast.

Lander, Hassan Shiekh Mohamud is the President of Somalia, who has been legitimately elected into office. All of us Somalis are celebrating his success because it is in part our success too after 22 years of turmoil. Khaatumo State of Somalia is an entity of Somalia, as the name bluntly indicates. Somaliland’s agenda of regional conflict in expanding into other states of Somalia is a futile mission. The past several months are a sign of a slowly but surely fading fantasy confronting what will seem as a psychological awakening to reality for its agenda pushers.

Mix weddings that follow islamic guidelines what does that mean , u mean aroosyada quraanka lugu furo Marka la yidha sadaqalahul cadim wa sadaqalahu diinal karim, ino tuma hadaba Xaaji you just described how somalis hold their only ladies wedding parties. But when I said mixed wedding that follow islamic guidline I meant dinner reception with your family and friends. of course you can have khutba and nasheeds. I see weddings as family event having it segregated isn't ideal to me nor is it a necessity "in la tumo".
-
Juxa many weddings are segregated here as well. Mixed weddings also take place but its usually by girls who aren't religious and they go all out with the white dress mixed dancing and all that.. I find it fun to have separate weddings but I personally support mixed weddings that follow the Islamic guidelines.

Jacphar lol why two witnesses only ma meherki xita ma diidi labo markhati yaa aminaya. You don't need to waste money but at least cashesi 50 men lol..and like juxa said gabdhahana casha kale ugu tuur if your future wife wants that is

If you don't believe in aroos you are entitled. Aroos was iska bahabaha iyo waste of time I yo money. But some people don't mind and when you are invited you have to go. Diintu waxay nafarasa in aan aadno unless of course there's gonna be haraam things taking place and yeah most mixed weddings are unislamic. I don't attend much of them and if I do you won't see me in the dance floor. I just eat the food and congratulate the couple. As for the guys who think it is not fun to take a wife to a wedding then kuwaas khyr ma leh qaraabasho mesha u tageen. And the word qaraabasho only has negative connotation

Lol u weren't joking you were just being a fulay waryaa go hit the gym so you can protect your love ones haha On a serious note violence is never the answer I'm sure you can just ask him politely to leave your wife alone lol

If I had a husband I would go with him to weddings (ie family/friend's wedding) Mise aduu aroosyada waad ka qaraabata

There is no harm in holding these type of xaflado. They are simply showing their support; in this case for madaxwenahena xasan sheikh mohamud. Alle haka dhigo kii dacad ah oo cadaalad umada somaliyeed ku daadaheeya PS Somalis are known to always fundraise for those who are in need. And their annual parties won't hinder them from doing that.
