Jacphar is it because you think it is permissable to shake hands with niqaabis because they are wearing gloves? I don't think there is authentic hadith allowing that.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. Now let me add my 2 cents. Generally speaking i try to avoid to shake hands with young men because it is religiously haraam. However, I am not going to pretend it is easy to approach that situation and I am not going to say I have never ever shook hands with young men. There were times where I was tongue tied to even say anything because I was afraid to offend the person. It never gets any less awkward every-time someone wants to shake your hands as a friendly gesture and I have to turn it down. It is hard and being in the west I doubt most people are understanding I find that they are offended. But, would you rather offend ilaahay the one who created you just so you dont offend a mere human being. I guess that is our choice. As for those of who are saying when you handshake with the opposite sex it doesnt mean you will commit zina. Remember that Allah swt never said don't commit Zina he said "wala taqribuu" don't even get near to it (ie dont do anything that might lead to it).. Secondly, I never thought there was ever an issue in shaking hands with elderly men. However, I have recently realized that those hadiths that are allowing one to shake hands with elderly people of the opposite sex are weak. I believe this was addressed in walaalkiis second post when the shiekh said who decides what is young or old. And that it is haraam to shake hands with the opposite sex period. Jazakalaah khyr walaalkiis.

Is it haraam to shake hands with non muhrim men if they are elderly? And how do any of you tell your non Muslim young coworkers or classmates of the opposite sex that you cant shake their hands without offending them. Do u straight up say my religion prohibits it? Please share your personal experience.

The hijaab I ended up buying was of a good quality. I don't regret buying it and I intend to keep buying india- made hijaabs. I guess the chinese are only good with the electronic devices

Alle sanadkan cusub wanagiisa ha nugu simo sharkisana hanaga xijaabo.

Speaking about the chinese-made clothes. I actually was buying hijaab the other day and this lady was like "don't buy the Chinese ones they don't have quality" instead she gave me one that said "India" on it and told me it has better quality..I don't really pay much attention to the details of what material the hijaab is made of, I usually buy whatever that catches my eye.....but I intend to heed to her advice...

Instead of her putting you or anyone else to shame. Instead let her motivate you, she put the effort to learn and perfect Somali out of her free-will. Where you are somali and you already have some sense of the somali language, you just have to want to learn it and master it. Waxa layidhi where there is a will there is a way. p.s age is nothing but a number laakin buug iyo qalin so qaado oo u fadhiiso afkaaga hooyo just like everything else in life.

More officials leave Somaliland for Mogadishu Comments (42) Somaliland officials go South At least three former Somaliland officials have arrived this week in Mogadishu and are expected to join the new government of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The former vice-chairman of Somaliland’s ruling Kulmiye party, Abdirahman Abdiqadir Farah, is in the Somali capital to take up a key role. According to reports in Mogadishu, he is speculated to become the new minister of state for internal affairs, which sees him head the ministry of interior. Another official that has left Hargeisa is Mohamud Rage Ibrahim, the former Director-General of Somaliland’s Foreign ministry. Mr Ibrahim is rumored he will be appointed as the new Director-General of Somalia’s Ministry of social affairs. Mohamed Omar Arteh Ghalib, the son of Somalia’s most prominent foreign minister is among those who left the current Kulmiye administration for Mogadishu. According to sources close to Somali prime minister Abdi Farah Shirdon, he will be named as a senior ambassador to undisclosed country. The stability in Mogadishu is creating new opportunities for Somaliland political and business figures and dozens have left in the last month alone. They join Fowsiya Yusuf Haji Aden, who was recently named as Somalia’s foreign minister after leaving her blacklisted political party in Hargeisa. Like Fowsiya, the ruling party mistreated its former vice-chairman and caused him physical injuries. He left the country for medical care abroad before returning just months ago. Somalilandpress What's your input of this article that I came across...many of these men seem to have held good positions in the Somaliland administration prior to going to mugadishu.

Mr. Xaaji Somaliland declared its so called independence in 1991 right? If as you claimed Buuba (despite being a senior member of the snm faction) was a unionist did he go to hamar in 1991 and opposed Somaliland from the get-go ??.. or was he one of the men la cadhoodey Mr.Tuur ? oo ay hamar danahoodi u aadeen markay ka wayeen hargaisa wixi ay rabeen...

If you have a job and you think you have the means to send some of your income back home then go for it hun. Ilaahay khyr wuu ku siini dadka baahan markaad wax u dirtid. 50 dollar oo wax badan kugu birineen qof miskiin ah wax badan bay ka tari.(waxan kugu talin laha wayeelka u dadaal si khaas ah dhalinyarada xoogsan karta ha isku dhibin) And to answer your question I was probably 18.....but sending money back home and helping out your extended family has nothing to do with age. Waxa layidhi maturity doesn't come with age. But, rather it comes with the acceptance of responsibility. p.s LOL@ stoic...
