Putin said that ASsad is not an angel but the country must be structured in a way that can change safely to transition. He is also a reliable ally who keeps his word. 

Other than the middle east, there is no where in the world where people either win or destroy the whole country.  Can you imagine in the Yemen civil war that is destroying the whole country, America is chasing and bombing Al-qeada within the civil war.

There is video showing intercept and destruction of about 20 missiles from US, UK and the has been empre metoo France.

No airspace of Russian protected was targeted. The Russians had moved their forces into many places and told western countries that those areas are untouchable.

I agree. These strikes were meant to distract from the comey book release and all the brouhaha the news and talk shows were going to broadcast these coming few days. 

The Russians placed assets long ago in all critical Assad bases and thus had given Assad a blanket cover from most of the serious devastation that these cruise missiles would have caused.

Assad will lay low for a few weeks and it will be business as usual for him and his allies as he continues his attempts to reassert himself in Syria.

Ultimately, I feel sorry for the Syrians people for they seem to have gotten themselves caught up in a stalemate between competing foreign powers who’re afraid to directly engage one another.

This is all to do with the west countries wanting the Qatar's gas to go through Syria to Turkey and from there to Europe and that is bad news for Russia and they r doing everything to prevent that.

All these countries USA Ksa are screwing up Russian's economy, why do you think oil is so cheap these days? Russia yes has extreme millitary power and may do some devious cyper attacks but they are extemely volnurable and depends on oil and can not compete with these countries. Russia is over rated, China in 10  maybe 15 years is different and is the only threat to Western countries.

What choices? When Turkey, Saudis, Qatar had decided to get rid of him. When France, Britain had decided to get rid of him. When Israel had decided to get rid of him. When all these interests worked together to plunder and destroy the country of Syria. What choices did he have other than die fighting. That is what he did.

They did what they could in the circumstances, short of sinking ships of western countries. The Russians put assets everywhere and denied targets to western countries. Assisted Syria in capacity to shoot down the missiles which was very successful in ding so. Has a lot to do in Germany and Italy not involved. Has factor of Turkey in becoming almost neutral.
