Have you ever voted in a fair and transparent general election? If you had, then you would certainly know the difference between inheriting a political office and being voted into a political office.

Carafaat

Riyaale succeeded Egal after his death in 2002 and in 2003 he was the first elected Somali President, since Abdirashiid Ali Sharmaarke 40 years ago. He won fair and square against the same man(Silaanyo), that he would loose to in the second run off in 2010.

^Right - he inherited it from a dead man. We know the history, it aint that old. Ninbaa uga dhintay doorashadii xigtayna asagaa madaxweyne ahaa marka isma rashixi kartid waa lagala xishooday but he and all the habros knew it wasn't his :) Taas yaanan isku daalin. Imikaba eeg seddex-da xisbi yaa kala xukumo - so much for diversity!

Now the point is Samatar ran away from Mogadishu claiming the his "clan" are not allowed to be the president there, he accused Shariifka of offering him a mere minister. What he didn't know is the same applies in Hargeisa... one wonders what he will do once he finds that out.

^^^ riyale was elected. Egal died then he inherited it took the country into elections and won. The majority voted for him regardless of clan. Somalilands political make up and the agreements of burco 1991 lay the foundation for power sharing in SOMALILAND. Similar to Lebanon according to size. Political parties are parties. Anyone can make one and every party had the same equal right to win or lose. This is the nature of democracy. In Somalia for argument sake lets say SOMALILAND is part of Somalia. The largest cities outside of mugdisho have been northern yet in the 50 years of union there was never a Somalilander as president not because of an agreement between Somalis but other factors. SOMALILAND elected riyale into power that is a fact. Silanyo was elected another fact. Everyone had the right to open parties ad they were fairly examined and competed till three won. When was the last time pirateville or Somalia had a free and fair election that elected someone non hag or d block? Care to tell me? Even in the pirates den the same sub clan has contolled it since its inception. So your argument is weak. Awdal has more to gain as part of SOMALILAND then it could ever gain in Somalia the 20 years of development is proof and las canod as well but they can't see it
