Which Somali accent?

Recommended Posts

As someone who spent a considerable time outside Somalia. I never have really developed a distinguishable Somali accent... This gives me the luxury of pursing and molding an accent of my choice. I turn to my SOL peers to help me decide which accent to pursue. Present your cases.

I will take a divergent view and suggest you embrace your qurba joog identifiable Somali, which will get you much further with Somalia's elite and aspiring elite, particularly the ladies in their delusions of diasporic barwaaqo. I was averaging a marriage proposal a week the last time I was in Hargeisa :P

Af Barwaan = wax ku qarso.

Af Maay = ku hees.

Af xamari = ku baashaal.

Af xaayoow = Ku habaartan.

I dont think there is a big difference btw the somali dialects apart from the af may may. My best friend is from hamar, apart from saying walaal/abaayo our somali is very similar for the most part. It is not a big deal.

i really DON'T know what sort of Somali i speak, walle.

sometimes its the mumbo-jumbo gibberish from my silver-spoon qurbo-joog upbringing....other times, i'd like to think i speak FORMAL somali.

who cares! anyways, its not even my first language but my obsession to master this 'af-somaliga' is ruining my life.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
