Somali Forces Re-Capture Aw Diinle From Al-Shabaab

Somali soldiers, backed by Ethiopian troops, recaptured Aw Diinle town from al-Shabaab militants who temporarily took control of the town a day earlier, Somalia's Warhaye reported Tuesday (March 19th).

 

The takeover followed a lengthy battle between the militants and allied Somali National Army and Ethiopian forces, said Bardaale district commissioner Mohamed ****.

 

Somalia's Kulmiye Radio reported at least seven casualties, but did not specify on which side.

 

Aw Diinle, in Bay region, is 30 kilometres west of Baidoa.

It was Ethiopians showing their strategic 'service'---they were not happy how government intervened with local admins, and I believe since they are not part of AMISOM, EU excluded them from funds it made available for AMISOM yesterday. So this was them saying , 'we matter'.

If the Ethiopians leave than that is a problem especially for the Bay and bakool gedo and Hiiraan regions, the Ethiopians are playing a clever game, they want to be heard and i am sure their demands haven't been met by the big Powers.

Alshabaab are highly disciplined army with fanatical spirit , Somalia needs all the help it could get to fight them.
