let me explain; You are ina abti to your eedo's kids, whilst they are ilmo eddo to you, hence the term "ilmo abti iyo ilmo eedo ayaanu nahay".

this i understand laakin JB and Norf and Xaaji they say ilmo abti bes.

It is both right. To you, they are your ilmo eedo and to them, you are their ilmo abti. In other words, eedada baa dhashay to you balse to them, adiga waxaa ku dhalay abtigood.

I have never heard of Ilma Eedo or Ilma Habreed but I suppose they’re technically correct (they are sons and daughters of your eedo or habo). Ilma abti or Habar wadaag is what I have always used. Without being an expert I suppose this is because of the male dominance of family names etc. When referring to a family you would say reer Mohammed or reer Xaaji Cismaan and wouldn’t use the names of the mothers/wives.

I wouldn’t be heard calling Ilmaabtiyaashey ilma eedo though :D
