La dagaalanka qaadka

^No one is advocating to start a war on khat. Far from it. Did you ask yourself if Somalia is at a position to start a war? War wuxu ma dhukan yahay horta.

The man in the clip is jump starting the conversation about khat consumption and encouraging people who sell khat to start thinking about the damages it brings to families. It is an editorial piece, not a government official or war policy.

^Chewing tobacco once a week is your solution? Wah

Khaat is a serious problem and I'm glad to see someone paying a good attention to its dangers to people.

If a grown man wants to chew khaat on friday nights wit his buddies after working a 40-50 hour work week he should have the right to do that. I don't view khat like drugs or khamri like some of u do. Khat becomes a problem when it's abused, just like anything else in this world.

^Go down to the park in your birthday suit and shoot any illegal drug up in your arm/nose and tell me if anyone has right to interfere in your life.

^I wasn't. I was showing him the absurdity of his argument. As far as breaking the laws goes, exposing yourself in the street will land you in jail no matter how adult you are. Laws are in place for a purpose and reason, unlike someone here. :D

^Sxb if you said, as a Kenyan you oppose Somalis having start up conversation about khat and the millions of dollars we lose to this green grass each year, perhaps this argument would've been better understood. I can understand our neighbors opposing this because it is economical for them to lose this thriving industry. But the average Somali needs to get a better understanding and awareness about khat before any war policy is thought of. Relax Mr. Sijuwi, no war is waged here. Just a conversation, an important one. And yes Somali government has the sole right and responsibility to ban khat and make it illegal regardless whether Japan or China failed its own war against Khat.

Sheeko xariir ka mid ah sheeekooyinka soomaaliyeed baa waxaa loo tebiyaa sidan: Berigii hore diinku inaanu lahaan jirin qoloftan adag, ee dushiisa ku genbisan, si kastaba arrini ha ahaatee maalin maalmaha ka mid ah baa shimbiro arkeen hilibka, wada casaanka ah, ee iska lugaynaya, dib bay shimbirihii isugu noqdeen si ay isula meel dhigaan sidii ay diinka hilibkiisa u hanan lahaayeen nasiib darrose markay weerar cir iyo dhul ah ku soo qaadeen, oo soo wajaheen meeshii diinku deganaa, waxay la kulmeen jab iyo halaag, oo diinkii oo qolof adag la huwiyey bay la haleeleen afafkoodii dhaadheeraa, the rest is history and markii la waydiiyey diinka halaaga ku dhacay shimbirihii wuxuu ku jawaabay; meeshii diinka loogu tashanayey sow Allaah ma joogin the moral of the story is meesha the blessed leaves loogu tashanayo, ee golaha SOL amaba fagaarayaasha kale ka mid yihiin, ambassadors of qaadku sow ma joogaan.? Additionally, cursing qaad day in and day out will NEVER diminish or slow down our social ills rather let us get to the genesis of our predicament. Btw, why do we even chew chat to begin with?, what are the causes?, Is it stoppable?, let us weigh its pros and cons?. Xukunka ha iska ridina ee bal dhan walba wax ka eega!

Ismahaan walaalo, qaad didnt make our country the way it is. The war and subsequent destruction of the economy has done this. The men are idle, what do u expect them to do. Like i said, if they had jobs they'd quit chewing or would chew responsibly like once a week like the older generation used to do.

No doubt, khat has effectively destroyed Somalia society and also it has a huge negative impact on Somalia economy. KHat is not grown in Somalia or Djibouti where it is consumed exponentially thus it is a huge benefits for YeMen, Kenya and Ethipoia farmers, traders and exporters not for Somalia. Millions dollars a year is spent on Khat and most of those profits are flying straight out of Somalia, on the same planes that fly the QAD in. Most men in Somalia spend more money on Khat than on food , in spite of the current difficult economic situation. In my point of view the khat is the main cause of many ills facing our society, from high unemployment rates, divorce , violent as well as other crimes. You said if they had jobs they’d quit chewing. Please allow me to ask you a simple, serious and sincere question. Somali have the lowest employment rate among all immigrants in the UK. They also have some of the worst records in education and youth crime. Why don't they work instead of chewing all day and claiming benefits? Xataa hadaa leedahay shaqo baay waayeen may wax bartaan intaay godadka ku jiraan oo 24 hours qaadka cunayaan aan xag dhaqaale, xaq Diin iyo Xaq cafimaad midna dani ugu jirin.
