"Prime Minister Erdogan's visit tells us the Turkish people are closer to us than any other Muslim nation on earth. The Turkish people are here to share with us in our time of need. It is momentous."

said local resident Abdirashid Ali Omar.

We must not forget our African family (Uganda and Burundi) for their contribution. All this wouldn't have been possible without the help of the AU and their qashin aruuris efforts. :)

Prime Minister Erdoğan to conduct opening of hospital in Somalia

As Prime Minister Erdoğan gets ready to pay a visit to Somali, he will also be opening a 400 square-meter, 50-bed field hospital in the capital Mogadishu. This hospital will be able to provide full medical services.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will soon be visiting a drought and starvation-stricken Somalia and during his stay will be conducting the opening of a field hospital in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. The 400 square-meter 50 bed capacity field hospital will have been set up by the time Prime Minister Erdoğan arrives in Mogadishu. Surgeries will be able to be conducted at this field hospital, which was also set up for eight months last year in Pakistan as well as in both Haiti and Libya. In addition, this hospital, which will also house an intensive care unit, will have a laboratory, x-ray and ultrasound units in order to provide full medical services.

18 TONS OF MEDICINE ALREADY SENT

In addition to the ten tons of medicine delivered last week, the team in the region has requested 18 tons of medical reinforcement, including medicine, serums, and medical supplies. Along with the field hospital, twenty medical personnel will be arriving to Somalia, including a pediatrics specialist, infectious diseases specialist, an obstetrician and malaria specialist as well as a practitioner, laboratory technician, a medical technologist, three nurses, two midwifes, an environmental health specialist and four health staff. Six additional field hospitals and 120 medical personnel are ready and waiting to be dispatched to Somalia if deemed necessary following Prime Minister Erdoğan's visit. Ministry of Health officials have announced that Turkey's field hospitals have been used throughout the world in natural disaster situations.
