Dattore whether he was wrong or not Sheikh Aweys was the driving intellectual force behind the ICU. In other words he was the programmer and Sheikh Sharif was the software.

Well he must have been one useless programmer who’ happen to be using an excellent software, which comes with an easy to use Wizard. Then from time to time arrogantly insisted in adopting his old errornous tactics of 'copy and pasting' codes that have caused him more bad then good.

Good Dattore, then lets find a good programmer to use the excellent software, since we agree that is all Sheikh Sharif is.

“It was the abduction of one of his 12-year-old pupils that prompted Somali schoolteacher Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed to take a stand against the warlords who had ruled the capital, Mogadishu for the last 16 years.”

Talk about slow reaction. Only after 16 years and when they started attacking their own, one of his students (how dare) he finally realized something is wrong with Somalia. As long as genocide was going on on others and rape etc. he was fine.

Sherrif is a good man. He seems to understand how politics operate. He understands that in national politics leaders must seek the support of all constituents. He understands that good leaders are to look around the corners, take centrist position, educate public about issues, utilize media for good use, etc.

This man, along with Adow, tried their best to hold onto their newly found position in Southern theatre, give TFG a conditional recognition, and cement Islamists political victory by accommodating other interest groups' interests without compromising their principles. I really like these two individuals.

What Somalia need after almost 20 years of deep rooted hatred is a healer of wounds, a man that does not compromise on his fundamental beliefs yet accommodates others view points. As the current leader of the Alliance for the liberation of Somalia he is just like Mandela was for the ANC the leader and head of hope for his people.

Sheikh Sharif is the candidate that will listen to others point of view and embrace it, he does not fear knowledge and knows that the only way forward is through understanding; the man is a fresh face and not an old schooler whose sole ambition since independence has been to sit in Villa Somalia. He does not haveSomali blood on his hand unlike most of his opponents

Most importantly unlike other good men who can do the job he has genuine grass root support from the masses irrespective of whether they are apart of his clan, because he along with the likes Abdi Bille, Abdullahi Isse, Adan Cusman Abdi Rashid Sharmake are judged by their character and not by where they hail from.

Juje know that he was elected as the head Alliance of Liberation of Somalia by his peers not Xassan Dahir Aweys so unless you have sound proof that it his Xassan running the show in that party then keep it down with the conspiracy.

Thiery, how can he not compromise his fundamental yet accommodate other views , that is controdicting isn't?

Does he have Somali blood in his hands, that is controversial sxb. But we can ask, though we may not, the hundresds of youngsters who perished to Ethiopian bombardment in outskirts of Baydhabo - where they were sent to the battle front untrained and into a war which was never really chartered nor planned.

Grassroot support? Arent those the ones he lft behind when he boarded a US Heli from Kismayo? Or is that never questioned?

Hassan Dahir Aweys can be said to be stubborn and always mis-calculating , but certainly he is sincere to his believes.

I will welcome Mr Sharif Ahmed to run for the top office, he must renounce violence and any attacks of the brave men who he wnats to lead.

I also welcome the oppositions shift from war to the ballot, proof that we were wright all along.

Absolutely not saxiib he believes that Somalia should ultimately be governed by Shariah law, but his ways of achieving it more through subtle learning and a gradual implementation.

As with regards to the battle I did not agree with as I too felt we were ill prepared, but again we can argue that the execution for war happened while he was away in hajj by Mr. trigger happy Indha Cadde, nobody in the world is infallible but if we are comparing merits there is no candidate more sited than him to run the country.

Juje it is the qadar of Allah that he did not perish in the battles or in the streets of Mogadishu, his role is as the strategic leader not a foot soldier his responsibilities are to govern. You have to understand this is reality and not Mel Gibson made movie so there is n need for him to pick up the AK.

General I welcome your welcome

But his conditions still stand as they stood over a year ago no need for Ethiopian troops in Somali soil and until that issue is solved we are still going to be in this limbo. The platform was opened in Khartoum just over a year ago the ICU was ready for negotiations with one condition and that condition still stands today.

^^^Thats not a bad aim, Ethiopians will leave. Howeever the clan courts attacked Baidoa, but hey thats history.

Again everyone should run for the elections and whoever wins wins.

Duke a Somali entity isn't welcome in Baidhabo but Ethiopian army is?

Moving on...

Sh. Shariif would never run for an election over who will win the seat under Gen. Gabra In Somalia that’s for sure.

So for a free SOmalia .. Sh. Shariif would make a likely candidate. So would Jaamac ali Jaamac and other Somali Leaders. smile.gif

People, who come under the following two categories, should not be able to run for election.

*Warlords.

*Uneducated folks.

Baring that in mind it would mean 70 percent of TFG including the poor old fella would be precluded

^^^Adeer welcome back to SOL, as for Somali leaders I dont think they can contest from Asmara, as its not a Somali region. :D

When the Ethiopian troops leave the clan courts supporters will say all non Mogadishu clans should also leave. ;)

Its not the Ethiopians, Its the advantage it gives to the Somali governemnt.
