Ethiopia denies troops crossed into Somalia

ADDIS ABABA (AFP) — Ethiopia on Tuesday denied its troops had crossed into neighbouring Somalia where Islamist rebels have launched an offensive against the government.

 

"No Ethiopian troops have entered Somalia. There is no change in the situation," state minister for communications Ermias Legesse told AFP.

 

Witnesses said they saw Ethiopian soldiers in dozens of armoured vehicles in Kalabeyrka village, near Beledweyne, a town some 300 kilometres (186 miles) north of the capital Mogadishu.
