Some say the sacking of 'Diana' is linked to the damning UN Security Council report linking Faroole personally with the Pirate gangs.

'Diana' and PIS have extensive reporting and intelligence links with the West (and in particular with the American clandestine services) & could've potentially fingered Faroole as the godfather behind the majority of the piracy in the Horn.

I bet Cowke didn't receive that intel from his 'exclusive, insider sources' :D

Replacing Osman Diana is a sign of reform for PIS.

It's no longer PIS. It's a PSA. The significance of this presidential decree can hardly be stressed

This is an effective, very powerful counter terrorist organization being reformed from the top but its mission and structure remains the same. Faroole is learning from Blackwater renamed Ze. Good pubic relations move.

You are absolutely right, that is what I am hearing to. After all that has gone on in Puntland, the change happened immediately after the leaked New York times article came out. I am hearing that people within the government are blaming the PIS for given the information to the UN Security Council!

The timing of the change to the PIS and this report makes it quite clear why this happened now!
