Federalism would help reconstitute the Somali state. Each federal state needs to work hard for development of basic infrastructure and the people in that region should hold the leaders accountable for the lack of progress.

The more, the merrier. We should have ports whenever possible. they could be used for transit cargo from other ports, for fishing and even for tourism. Nomads should learn how to swim and eat fish.

We lack the basic understanding of governance, whatever system of governance won't matter unless people are not fully informed and the politicians are since in the application of the constitution and laws.

The most basic problem is the incomplete constitution that creates a lot of confusion in terms of responsibilities.

I always wonder why people do not focus on this one item. Bad good or ugly nothing can be done properly without constitution.

Even to know whether properly implemented or not, one has to have one in first place.

Every SFG, TFG avoided this and are getting away with it.

Now Eritrea will tell them forget it..don't need constitution. lol

How is this bad? Mudug can have two airports, two ports and two in everything. It is just sick people who see evil in everything is the problem here.

These people are as dumb as rock, first you don't need two ports in small region, it is redundant, speically while you are so poor and can not afford, and need other vital infrastructure. Somalis and Federalism, most of these pple have no clue. You can build Airport in one area and the port the other. Somalis are sleep walking and you will see in Mudug  as example, two parliament, too many puplic servants? who is going to you pay for it?

Ports are very expense, need major highways, u will duplicate everything? in small area while u have a big country, while pple don't have basic necessities.

You have posited a retarded argument that is based on not one single intelligible fact. And to top it of, you dashed it with a sprinkling of make-believe outrage which is wholly unnecessary here.😁

Proximity of distance between these proposed ports in Mudug need not necessarily bring about redundancy nor economic superfluity. (Just google the distance between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and you will see the flaws in your thinking)

I believe, if they get built... the ports of Gara’ad and Hobyo will supplement one another and at the same time compete with one another and other ports in the country — which will drive the cost of trading through them much lower— for all to benefit from.

By the by, who made you the all-knowing arbitrator of what our so called “poor” people can or cannot do?

It such defeatist and disgusting mentality that has set back many a Somali these days.

Saaxiib fadhiga ka kac oo iskaa wax u qabso. “I am poor” is no excuse..😀

Ku dayo Puntland! 👍

The answer is simple, Federalism is a curse, a civil war in waiting, its just unfortunate that those who are defending the pending doom all come from 1 single clan and certain federal state (Puntland).

I sincerely advice to those who advocate the cursed federalism to heed the warning before a calamity strikes (we all know the nature of the Soomaalida waa dad ku heshiiyey inay iis dilon,  now giving those clans a state will only exacerbate the current crises), screaming there after wont help!

Clan wars was the past time and the order of the day for our grandfathers, i foresee state-clan wars in the near future, Tukuraq is only the tip of the iceberg and the beginning of that calamity.

It send chills down my spine just thinking about post arms embargo, what clans state will do to settle past clan grievances with their state, may Allah helps all from this doom of a Federal Ship we are on.

Ever heard of  a thing called cost effectiveness when planning for public instututions?  It's easy to say that a small desertified countey that according to UN-reports has massive malnourishment to have two ports and two of everything. What's more difficult is actually to find the resources.

Sxb you are talking a lot of trash. The reason we have mulnourishment is not because we have too many ports, airports and long highways. It is because we have a lack of them. In the free market economics these ports should spur competition and economic growth for the region.

Dalmar, how Building infrastructure like Gara'ad port leads to civil war? What does not lead to war then? **********imo and living in chaos? Caqligaas dadka wata baan rabnaa inaan dowlad la wadaagno bal daya!!! War adeeroow dhulkaaga dhiso kaygaan dhisanyaan Iimaankana isku sug risqiga Allah baa haye dakad meel laga dhisay kuuma hayso.

The problem is that Somalis are good at opposing but rarely offer working solutions. We have federal system because the centralized system failed and there is no other workable solution at this time. If you think there is one, please put forth your ideas.

Why can't we have major ports and minor ports. Every coastal area needs port. How will people and good travel if there are no ports. Somalis needs to take advantage of the long coast Allah gave us.
