#Ethiopia: "We don't want to pay any more sacrifice, sit down and discuss," Brigadier General Kebede Regasa
Brigadier General Kebede Regasa, Commandant of the Ethiopian Defense University, has warned that Ethiopia’s survival “depends on achieving national consensus.” Speaking at the Second Parliamentary Citizens Forum held on 22 January, 2025, under the theme "National Consensus for Dependable Peace and Prosperity," he emphasized that such consensus is “not to satisfy individuals or groups’ interests” but is crucial for “the existence of the country.”
The forum, organized by the House of Peoples’ Representatives, was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos, Speaker of Parliament Tagesse Chafo, and invited intellectuals. Brigadier General Kebede stressed the need for stakeholders to critically evaluate the country’s situation, noting that “Ethiopia remains one of the few countries,” in the 21st century, “engaged in civil war.”
He urged participants to prioritize dialogue to prevent further bloodshed, stating, "We don't want to pay any more sacrifice. Sit down and discuss," and further emphasized, “Solve your problem.”

#Ethiopia: Lieutenant General Alemshet Degife, Military Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (#ENDF) and Chief of the Fire Command, announced plans to reduce the military’s involvement in policing and transfer these responsibilities to regional police forces and local militias. Speaking in a two-part interview with ENDF Media, he emphasized, “It is not sustainable for the national defense force to be deployed in every village, woreda, kebele, and city.”
General Alemshet reflected on the challenges posed by prolonged military deployments over the past five to six years, particularly in the Tigray, Oromia, and Amhara regions. He outlined a strategy to withdraw troops to their camps and prioritize training, stating, “We are planning to return the military to its camp and focus on training. In this regard, we believe we will succeed, and our forces will get the necessary rest.”
Watch!

Xaaji, it doesn't matter what coast he signed away. It makes no difference to the Somali public.
And Ethiopia won't help with anything. Why should they help a man whose term is fast coming to an end.

Galbeedi, on top of that, some trade is shifting to Garacad despite being under-developed in comparison to Berbera. They made a mistake of interfering with business and lumping all D community together, a community that don't share a similar goals and have different priorities.
Anyway Awdal seems to be late to every game, not that clan militias are good for anyone.
Pland should be worried as well and tread carefully. This sort of culture can easily impact the behavior of other Somali clans
-
The bigger problem is proliferation of clan militias that more powerful than official government forces in Somaliland. The only region that doesn't have a well-armed militia is Awdal.

Oromo activist Jawar Mohammed in new interview “ ENDF military is overstretched and the whole army is about to explode. Every ENDF general knows this. Soldiers are only paid $3,000 Birr and don’t even have proper rations.”

This is an old report, but it made me wonder what HSM yes-men are telling him or if he is listening to anyone at all? Under one year, he went from "Ethiopia is our enemy" to "Ethiopians have scarified their lives for us." Clearly, Tunisia, unlike Somalia, was and is an actual state and Ben Ali was firmly in control, but Ben Ali's delusions can be heard in his voice. Almost no one was telling him the reality on the ground to the very last minute. Listening to HSM, it is becoming harder to tell he is a fool, a thief who will do anything to amass wealth even at the expense of his nation, an ill man or simple tool of foreign powers, perhaps he is a bit of everything.

Galbeedi,
Those who launched the attacks made a fundamental mistake. They foolishly forget that they crossed an international border. Their goal might have been to destabilize the Somali region, but they conveniently ignored the region is under Addis Ababa jurisdiction regardless how Somalis view the Ethiopian colonization of the Somali region. This is not Las Anod or Erigavo.

If the story of well-armed militia crossing from Somaliland is true, it seems this is an attempt to derail Irro presidency before it even takes off.

‘Dark forces’ from Somaliland kill at least 83 on Ethiopian territory
At least 30 members of the Somali regional police force and 53 civilians have been killed by an armed group that crossed into Ethiopian territory, Harshin Woreda, from Somaliland over the past week. Government officials confirmed the casualties to The Reporter, but other sources say the attacks claimed more than 200 lives.
Harshin, the easternmost woreda of Jigjiga Zone, is bordered on the south by Degehabur Zone, on the west by Kebri Beyah, and on the northeast by Somaliland. Harshin is home to clans who inhabit both the Somali region and Somaliland.
Seven days ago, it turned into the scene of a bloody series of events that reportedly began with a clan-related clash over grazing lands in Yoale Kebele.
The Somali regional administration sent a team of three police officers, including Mohammed Gedi, Harshim’s security chief, to bring the clash under control, according to an official in the Somali regional government.

From what I understand, local clans from opposing communities had a conflict over land, a farm land. The land belongs to the Arab clan. A small number of Liyu Polce and local officials came to the area to assess the situation and find a solution. The Liyu Police were ambushed by Arab militia. Liyu Police members died including commanders. The commanders were Ciise, Arab and OG men. Videos of the dead were shared on social media
The Arab militia were not all from the area. The Liyu Police came back in force and went rampage. Ethiopian forces decided not to intervene. They agreed to close the border, but nothing else.
In any case, over 200 Somalis are dead including 60 Liyu police. A small disagreement turned into bloodbath.

Illyria,
At this point, it is irresponsible to watch HSM ran the country to the ground. Unfortunately, Mogadishu political elites seem paralyzed.
