  1. This is silly. I am assuming each mayor represents a different habar?
  2. @Saalax said: Burning flags won't change anything. The political elite of Laas Caanood don't want the city to leave Somaliland's hands but its city's population is largely anti Somaliland. Yup, though the words elite is used rather loosely when it comes to Somalis. Tallaabo...Don't insult the Somali Navy. Perhaps, you prefer the real pirates that dump toxic waste and steal Somali fisheries. Xaaji...It is Earth Day.
  3. Thanks Yoniz. Galbeedi... Who are the Jaars?. I saw some people comparing the Jaarso to Garre.
  4. Gheelle.T, let's think of solutions and not continuing being self destructive , besides Oromos are not any better than us. It seems most of solers are not xenophobes. Now, considering qabyaalad is a form of xenophobia, perhaps we can work on that too:-)
  5. I like the ominous music. This is fear-mongering! There are several things here: 1. Somalis are not innovators hence no one can come with any ideas that will result in good jobs. We rather build ugly hotels and brag ngo funded projects. 2. If you are too proud to do menial jobs, let's not complain about those who are willing to do it. 3. There is NO real Somali Government in the Horn that has control of its borders and proper immigration policies. 4. There is no government that can formulate and implement social and economic policies that will trigger prosperity. 5, What we have a click of mafia businessmen, so called wadaado class, sleazy politicians and oday dhaqmadeed that are sucking life out of everything. The youth and our women have no say. 6. As long as the youth and women continue being docile, nothing will change in any Somali territory. 7. Relationships with foreign countries will be one sided. In any case, the flow of the Oromo will continue, it is also happening in Puntland and lesser extent in the South. The answer to this problem will be complicated, but it needs courageous leaders and a public willing to fight for its future. That said, the Horn of Africa is powderkeg waiting to explode, It is only a matter of time before Woyane are eliminated as political force. They have made the mistake of awakening the sense of ethnic identity.
  6. Coofle, you do realize we are talking about tribal societies? It is in the interest of Oromos to stay out of local politics.
  7. Gulf States are buying ports in the Horn from Assab to Kismayo. It's strategic decision. Let's hope this benefits Somalis in a small way. It's safe to say a lot of our resources won't be in our hands.
  8. Tallaabo. We can divide Somalia into million pieces but the fundamental problems that destroyed the Somali State will always be there. Ignorance, lack of leadership, tribalism, nepotism, corruption and most importantly poverty will persist. Secession has not brought prosperity to Somaliland. It is as corrupt, tribalistic, ignorant and poor as any other Somali territory. Further fragmentation is not an answer. We will just miniaturizing problems. Nothing will change as long as people worship idols (clans) and leaders look for legitimacy elsewhere. There needs paradigm shift. As for Gebre, he is powerful and not powerful at the same. His position is determined by the behavior of the Somali public and the sleazy leaders that they so blindly follow to the gates of hell.
  9. I can't understand Somali people's obsession with kursi. What can madaxweyne or raysal wasaare do for his tribe? What people need are institutions with good governance.
  10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeMvEEqlKbA What turnaround.
  11. ^They should expel from reerka for calling Hargeisa neighborhood ghettos.
  12. Greece needs to go back to the drachma. The repayment as it stands is unrealistic; IMF has admitted as much. Any loan restructuring would have to include shaving off the some of loans or extending maturity date into decades and at lower interest rate. Anything else is just avoiding the inevitable. Galbeedi, some African countries are not endowed with many natural resources or have squandered the little they have.
  13. Th European project is hard to sustain. It was meant to reign in Germany but it is Germany that's controlling things. From monetary perspective, it is hard to formulate a sound financial policy without political integration, in other words the United States of Europe is needed. What you have now disparate countries that are unwilling to give up their sovereignty and a for good reason, no country wants to surrender power and the two world wars left a bitter taste in some countries'. People don't forget the past. Just ask the Serbs or Greeks who compare Merkel to Hitler, a cheap considering it is German tax payers that bailing out Tax dodging Greeks. On another note, I wonder how African countries would pay back Chinese loans, something else that's brewing below the surface.
  14. We are anomaly. It doesn't matter if Somalia is stable or not. But I doubt Hassan Sheikh is coming back. Clan dynamics and outside actors might do him in. P.s. He thought he could pull Galmudug in Hiiraan, but Ugaas in the region is nonsense guy.
  15. It seems Abdiwali held out to win development projects for Pland, good ploy if he knew he eventually had to relent. In any case, Xasan's Government had fours to build a military, setup viable institution and complete the constitution. They haven't even attempted to do any of that. It shows lack of sincerity and complete indifference to our people's suffering. I can understand if they tried and failed, but they haven't even tried.
  16. @Haatu said: peaking against the rulers is the root of all evil. Sabar baa la qaatey.. Huh? Hehe.
  17. Somalis make pennies. Our concept of wealth is siphoning few millions.
