Ethiopia’s Tigray War Is Fueling Amhara Expansionism
Che -Guevara replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
Though anything can happen, I don't think Somalis will find in Ethiopia's situation in terms of self-segregation. We would be more like Southwest [Bay and Bakool] which literally hosts most Somali clans, a melting pot. Puntland for instance is now more diverse than it has ever been. Members of southern clans that moved up there during the civil war are now there for two generations. The issue is political representation. Deni was smart enough to say every Somali citizen can vote and run for office. -
Somalia’s Election Is Already Rigged: The Question Is, For Whom?
Che -Guevara replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
It seems the opposition's entire game plan was to make sure Farmaajo does not run again. -
Even Matt Bryden and his Sahan outfit gave up on the opposition On 4 July, the leadership of Somalia’s Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT), was elected through a disturbingly opaque process that produced a close Farmaajo associate, Mohamed Hassan ‘Irro’, as Chairman and Mawlid Mataan Salaad, a proxy of NISA chief Fahad Yasin, as Vice Chairman. Their appointment was orchestrated by an interim electoral body chaired by a prominent member of the Islamist organisation, Al-I’tisaam. These latest developments confirm what many have long suspected: Somalia’s upcoming election is being – and arguably already has been – rigged. MATTHEW BRYDEN - Somalia’s Election Is Already Rigged: The Question Is, For Whom? | The Elephant WWW.THEELEPHANT.INFO Somalia desperately needs new leadership to restore constitutional rule and to set its teetering political transition back on track. Farmaajo’s removal would therefore be a welcome step

AUN. Everywhere in Somali lands, these 'police' officers are trigger happy. How could a disagreement escalate so quickly? I thought American cops were bad.

The author is Pro-TPLF, but he does make good points. Ethiopia’s Tigray War Is Fueling Amhara Expansionism FOREIGNPOLICY.COM Abiy Ahmed depends on the support of ethnic Amhara leaders and militias whose goal is to reconquer what they consider lost territories—from Tigray to Sudan.

This was one for the ages. And it looks like the only thing the opposition has in common is their hatred for Farmaajo.

Police all over Somali lands are trigger happy, no accountability.
