  1. Well political maneuvering is not bad but at what price? And what is the logic here? are we factions? sub-clans? who is sharing power with who? is everything on the line because one warlord traitor was outsmarted by another traitor or Ethiopian pawn? These Somali buffoons are recycling old stooge-mentality and using their sub-clans to hold on to non-existent power. Who in Somalia really is the power? Ethiopian tanks? warlord militias? or terror groups? and what that power is used for? to destroy the country, fragment it into fiefdoms, and kill its people, displace them? that is a huge price to pay. maybe we should ask for another trusteeship - this time maybe we could at least produce different leaders and politicians with college education. See the men, sorry the warlords and petty politicians are mostly soldiers with elementary schooling and the same goes to the so-called Sheikhs and worse of all - most of them are die-hard tribalists as Yeey and other warlords
  2. that is great idea - who is better to keep peace in Somalia than Somalis?
  3. Puntland is no more part of the Somali republic and it's a clan fiefdom of one clan, for the one clan by the one clan - that is the surprise Somalipride is telling us. If our warlord is not the warlord-president of Somalia, we succeed and call ourselves the Puntland Republic. What a surprise! We can then have our own ambassadors in Somaliland...oh wait we have border conflict with them because some people beyond the colonial segmented borderline between the Italian Somaliland and British Somaliland are members of our clan . We declare War to liberate our brothers under the Somaliland Occupation. War also to our GalMudugh enemies. We would prostitute ourselves and be Ethiopian pawns for the interest of our clan cos we don't give F*&% of Somalia. Wait a second that means we will give up on Kismayo to the Shabaab and Turki? no we would call it too JubbaLand and have government in absentia based in Garoowe - that is the surprise - Bravo Puntland
  4. bunch of qabiilist loosers- that is what Yeey and Adde Muse are! All Somali factions are devoid of reasoning walaahi. some of them are hardened by years of bloodshed and barbarism and some are just sick with primitive disease of regionalism and clan allegiance. the so-called Puntland leaders are just prime example of what is wrong with Somalis. Puntland and Somaliland enjoyed peace for quite sometime. Puntland supported the TFG and were happy with the Ethiopian occupation of the country as long as their warlord was in power and being protected by Ethiopian tanks. Now he is isolated and ailing, and beaten in the political game by other traitors and warlords from the other regions, they are threatening to succeed from Somalia. That will not work as it didn’t work for Somaliland. Disagreeing with Djibouti process is understandable but being so clannish is beyond me. Who cares if the entire parliament is from Puntland or Hiiraanland or Jubbaland or Banaadirland? well breaking up the country into fiefdoms is what Ethiopia always wanted and thanks to the blind loyalty to the sub-clan, Somalis are doing this for them. We want peace. It is that simple. Peace is what the ordinary people of Somalia want. not seats or power or offices of government. They want life and what is the key to life: having peace, shelter and food in reverse order. But that comes at a price, some people need to see the bigger picture, have common sense, reason and compromise. None of the buffoons who call themselves see that now. They see sub-clan and are sick. They use clan card to control ignorant and starving people. when you have violent groups and wars everywhere, it’s difficult to think and to reason. I would suggest and ask the players, actors and bosses of Somalia to give all seats to Puntland. Let us award the seats to Puntland and even to Somaliland. Let us appoint all offices of power to people from Puntland. Puntlanders You want seats. Have them all. You want Somalia, unity and peace, then simply change your perspective and know that Somalia is not a sub-clan. Other clans too. Somalia is not a sub-clan. we are in the 21st century. The world is progressing while we are regressing to Stone Age mentality. I support no faction. Not Shabaab, not Shariif, not warlords, no one actually. My whole belief and trust system in the Somali groups is damaged and beyond repair. I want alternatives. I want modernity. I want peace and life. Who could think out of the clannish and factional box and guarentee me that peace will come in my lifetime and that the next generation will have better life in Somalia and kids will go to schools and enjoy playing soccer in Somali beaches? who could guarentee that? Not Yeey, or Adde, or Aweys or Shariif. None of them is capable of that. I know some Somali kids in Berbera have that or some in Djibouti have that cos I saw it. Why that can't be replicated all over Somalia in place like Mogadishu, Merka, Kismayo and Boosaaso or Hobyo?
  5. Is this General Petreaus's Anbar awakening ploy to rout out the extremist "Al-Qaeda affliated" Shabaab? Guriceel, the birthplace of Aweys, the spiritual leader of Shabaab is now the Anbar of Somalia. I guess the signing of the Djibouti agreement and the proposed withdrawal of the Ethiopians from Somalia would create frictions and cleavages among the Islamist groups and insurgents. Is it going to be doctrinal clash? or just an inevitable power-struggle of loosely affiliated Islamic factions with different agendas?
  6. Ugandan men warned of 'booby trap' Friday, November 28 07:04 pm AFP Uganda's police warned male bar-goers to keep their noses clean after a probe found a gang of robbers had been using women with chloroform smeared on their chests to knock their victims unconscious. Skip related content "They apply this chemical to their chest. We have found victims in an unconscious state," Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) spokesman Fred Enanga told AFP. "You find the person stripped totally naked and everything is taken from him," he said. "And the victim doesn't remember anything. He just remembers being in the act of romancing." Enanga, who explained that several types of heavy sedatives had been used, said he first came across the practice last year when an apprehended thief named Juliana Mukasa made a clean breast of the matter. "She is a very dangerous lady," the official said. While early investigations suggest that the gang may consist of dozens of members, the source of the sedatives remains unknown. "We don't know exactly how they get these materials," Enanga added. "That is something that our investigations must crack." He called on men, particularly travelling businessmen who tend to carry a lot of cash, to take caution. "It's a serious situation and people have to be aware." 7. I love Somali Maahmaah that says: Nin Qoyan biyo ma iska dhowro! I am for peace! I am against peace! I am clannish , no I am nationalist - hadalkaas ma is keenaayo - Just let me remind Duke that Somalia is not a sub-clan! it is a nation-state, a country with the same people who share ethnicity, religion, culture and language - same people who are sadly still led and manipulated by sick old men with clannish mentality. Their time is almost done due to old age and ill-health. It is gonna take us another 20-30 years to have a viable peaceful and progressive and prosperous Somali nation- Some will work for that reputable goal while others will be short-sighted and just become victims of their ignorance and primitiveness. As for the Djibouti agreement - I am not sure of what to make of it. As for the withdrawal of the Ethiopians: Can't wait to see when the last Ethiopian soldier is out of Somalia. As for Somalis owning the peace process without foreign intervention and compromising for the common interest - priceless!
  8. Yeey went to "his tuulo after he was refused an entry to Djibouti by IGAD and the International Community agents in Nairobi for one reason: They perceive him as a spoiler and a hard-headed warlord who is not in favor of their "new-dictates"
  9. We are all preempting this for a reason. Would it work? it is gonna be fun to see what political machinations the signatories of this deal do.
  10. I am sure he means well and is concerned - That is at least my impression but he got to do the PR for ISLAH for a reason. Islah is not bad compared to other groups
  11. yes some warlords claim to be sheikhs and we all know the ruthless warlords used the clan card to amass weapons and wealth to wipe out Somalia for good. So until another alternative group comes, I am not gonna buy any more play or plot but would keep an eye on Somali misery.
  12. mma mar hore aan joojiyay inaan teegeero koox ama shir nabad ku sheeg Soomaaliyeed.
  13. I added! plus the US bilateral legislative bodies: the house and the senate are elected by the voters they represent - not appointed like in Somalia (based on clan formula or their attire) even though they are either democrats or republicans - two parties - maybe Somalia should have two parties: the warlords and the wadaads- the clannish folks could be independent party - allied with the warlords -
  14. yeey can retreat in Garoowe - it is good for him to retire and repent. This is a UN/EU/AU/IGAD/Ethio sponsored deal and Mogadishu is the capital - Nur Adde formed the Mogadishu council which elected Mogadishu Mayor - Ethiopians to withdraw, more AU to come and protect the new parliament and presidency - So goes the story - Yeey is too old and too sick to change the course of the Somali mess.
  15. Nur Adde for President! or is it Sheikh Sharif for president? Somalia has a 550 parliament! we are second to China and lead USA, Russia and India in the number of MPs - none of then has 550 MPs ..even if you add 100 senators - US would have less than 550. India got 535 mps for 1.1 billion people -
  16. Yeey will declare Puntland's succession after the 550 dethrone him.
  17. 20. good characterization and caricaturization of the the two colonels. Somaliland deserves our admiration for it managed to create an oasis of peace and stability in Northern Somalia. Col.Riyaleh (even thoug corrupt) is thousand times better than warlord Yeey. Amin Amir is great cartoonist and he depicts the truth as he draws it.
  21. The Ultimate goal of any future Somali conference is to get rid of the warlords, colonels, and above all war criminals. The extremists should be also excluded. Let us list who is who of the reprehensible men who should be top candidates of this list I propose few dozens: The war criminals: Yeey, Mohamed Dheere, Sudi, Qanyare, Qabydiid, Darwiish, Gacmodheere, Morgan, Hiiraale, Caydiid, Indhocadde, Shaatigaduud and Cismaan Caato. The colonels: Colonel Yeey; Colonel Aweys,Colnel Hiiaale, Colonel Morgan (he is said to be an army general thanks to his father-in-law, Dictator Barre – His real ranking is somewhere between Corporal or Sergeant), Colonel Qaybdiid , Colonel Shaatigaduud, Colonel Omar Haashi, JVA colonels, and colonel Darwiish, the warehouse worker. The warlords: Warlord Yeey Warlord Qaybdiid, Warlord Dheere, Warlord Darwiish, Warlord Indhocadde, Warlord Sudi, Warlord Caydiid, Warlord Qanyare, Warlord Morgan, Warlord Shaatigaduud, Warlord Madoobe…. These men should go and excluded from any Somali governance. Their handpicked stooges and so-called parliamentarians should also be expelled, those who could be rehabilitated should be sent to some asylum and cured of clannish and corrupt curse. Somali Women peacelords should be given 50% of the seats of the parliament. There should be 3.0 formula as follows: Women should get 25 seats as a clan, Civil society should get 25 seats, Intellectuals and technocrats should get 25 as a clan. Somali parliament should be limited to 75. Somali women can be part of any group. Somalis are said to be 7.5 million inside Somalia. The prime minister should be the head of state – the president symbolic and ceremonial. Terms for office should be only 4 years. Regional administrations and local municipalities should also be elected by the locals and not based on clan. No clan fiefdom. Every Somali is free to live and work anywhere. The government institutions should have expert advisors and consultants – preferably educated Somalis and foreign experts. Somali constitution should be based on Islamic Canons.
  22. This is a spoof news or a parody but a good and humorous one! November 22, 2008 Somali Pirates in Discussions to Acquire Citigroup It had to happen sometime: November 20 (Bloomberg) -- The Somali pirates, renegade Somalis known for hijacking ships for ransom in the Gulf of Aden, are negotiating a purchase of Citigroup. The pirates would buy Citigroup with new debt and their existing cash stockpiles, earned most recently from hijacking numerous ships, including most recently a $200 million Saudi Arabian oil tanker. The Somali pirates are offering up to $0.10 per share for Citigroup, pirate spokesman Sugule Ali said earlier today. The negotiations have entered the final stage, Ali said. "You may not like our price, but we are not in the business of paying for things. Be happy we are in the mood to offer the shareholders anything," said Ali. The pirates will finance part of the purchase by selling new Pirate Ransom Backed Securities. The PRBS's are backed by the cash flows from future ransom payments from hijackings in the Gulf of Aden. Moody's and S&P have already issued their top investment grade ratings for the PRBS's. Head pirate, Ubu Kalid Shandu, said: "We need a bank so that we have a place to keep all of our ransom money. Thankfully, the dislocations in the capital markets has allowed us to purchase Citigroup at an attractive valuation and to take advantage of TARP capital to grow the business even faster." Shandu added, "We don't call ourselves pirates. We are coastguards and this will just allow us to guard our coasts better." *CITI IN TALKS WITH SOMALI PIRATES FOR POSSIBLE CAPITAL INFUSION *WILL REQUIRE ALL CITI EMPLOYEES TO WEAR PATCH OVER ONE EYE *SOMALIAN PIRATES APPLY TO BECOME BANK TO ACCESS TARP *PAULSON: TARP PIRATE EQUITY IS AN `INVESTMENT,' WILL PAY OFF *KASHKARI SAYS `SOMALI PIRATES ARE 'FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND' ' *Moody's upgrade Somali Pirates to AAA *HUD SAYS SOMALI DHOW FORECLOSURE PROGRAM HAD `VERY LOW' PARTICPATION *SOMALI PIRATES IN DISCUSSION TO ACQUIRE CITIBANK *FED OFFICIALS: AGGRESSIVE EASING WOULD CUT SOMALI PIRATE RISK * FED AGREED OCT. 29 TO TAKE `WHATEVER STEPS' NEEDED FOR SOMALI PIRATES Posted by edelfenbein at November 22, 2008 12:04 PM spacer bottom of page image Copyright © 2008 Eddy Elfenbein | Design by Callisto Design Studio | Hosting by InvestorPlace Blogs
  23. Nur also said in the LATIMES interview this: Do you think Yusuf should step down? Yes, I agree that the president remains the problem of this country. If the transitional institutions are not delivering, it is because of the obstacles our president is creating. Instead of leading us to peace and stability, he wants to keep the country a hostage of the current situation.
  24. finger pointing is not bad - we got to be skeptic and suspicious of all - no one trusts no one any more - and what concrete solutions are u expecting - the whole thing is out of our (somali) hands and every Somali factions has its own foreign meddlers.
