You know how back in somalia our main breakfast meal was canjeero, well here in the west many people each cornflakes or like me branblakes and so on. I have noticed how nearly every supermarket have got their own brand and normally theirs is cheaper than the more popular brands. Thing is although i am still to do research on this, i think that it may not be very expensive to start a factoy that makes them. There are a few advantages to them as opposed to our canjeero. Firstly they have a longer shelf life Secondly as they are in mostly fortified with vitamins and minearals they are a much better feed for our population especially our children who are severely impacted by malnutrition. Thirdly because they can be industrially produced they are a much better value for money. Remember most parents will be poor even if peace were to come today and affordability is one of the things that will restrict access to proper nutrition and a balanced lifestyle. The first point alone should be a blessing to a nation such as ours. When food productions is adversely impacted by war and the ensuing chaos and our rainfall partern is also chaotic, the production and processing of foods that can be consumed instantly and have a longer shelf life at the same time is sure way of preventing food shortages. They also create market stabilty in my opinion as far as food goes. In Somalia the less the need to cook things the bette for us all. We use charcoal and wood and we get our wood probably by chopping down the few trees that we have left, contributing to desertification. Cornflakes and other flakes only need addition of milk and will thus save our environment. Another food that is not really a staple of ours but needs to be is fish. We have a very long coastline and rather than farming goats which are also said to contribute to soil erosion we can easily change to fish consumption. I personally considered it once but since fish goes bad quickly and our roads are either poor or non-existant, most of our towns and villages are cut off from this abundant source of food. It would probably be possible to set up shops with cool rooms and buy refridgerated trucks to supply them but this will only be economical when supplying coastal towns. I have a relative who lives in dubai who was also contemplating starting this kind of bussiness in mogadishu. That was in 2004 and i have not been in contact since then so i have no idea if he went ahead with it or not. The chances are however it will be a waste of money under current conditions. In all honesty peace must first prevail before anything can be attempted.

I have this idea that i believe wont even need alot of money. It may need trust and the ability to work along agreed paths even when our sentimensts will push us to take sides. Well this is the idea. Firstly it is to build an information network-audio visual. Firstly a group of like minded individuals will be needed to start it all up. They will probably need to contribute each a sum of money ..not much ..merely as needed to get things started. Afterwards comes the hard part and that is to sell parts of the company to the somali public and thus increasse the pool of money. Although the situation in somalia is very difficult and dangerous, i am sure it wont be very hard to find honest individuals who can use a continuous income and are willing to gradually build themselves a career in journalism with maybe a little guidance. The thing is there can be an a continuous stream of video from our homeland and as the network builds trust among the civilians and the officials alike, they will be able to build bridges as well as dispell darkness. The somalis, both at home and in the diaspora, will be able to judge better for themselves and align their support with their interest. In the long run there is even a possibility of projecting back to the people their true identity thereby creating or working towards the creation of a proper nation. I am not ****** and i do understand that it will not be easy, especially trying to convince both the government and the rebels of their impartiality but i guess treading carefully, consistency and time can go along way in their attempt to curve out such a path. The sad part is that i think that it will be almost inevitable to avoid using the already establish form of network ie tribalism. Dont be alarmed please. The only way those networks will be avoided is by using only wadaados and their partialy will then be compromised. The thing is it is truely sad that there are almost no honest people to be found anywhere anymore except for the wadaados and they have already aligned themselves (or so is the general perception)with the rebels. Other than that obstacle which is not a small one, it is plausible i think. This ,even if it were to work, will most likely not be profitable in the short run but in the long run, provided the company can withstand the differest forms of destructive pressures, will probably have rewards on many levels not only in terms of cash but also the power to influence others and it that is used righty spiritual rewards and honour awaits the victors. Firstly i do not understand as to WHY this government is not seen by many as ours. Even if after the long walk (this government was long in the making)and the subsequent formation of the TGF, which in my opinion was as representative as it could get for us(we are tribaly devided whether we like it or not and the west is regionally devided so they elect from counties or regions and we from tribes),some decided that it wasnt for them should they then not wait until the end of term. I condemn the USA attacks on our soil. They should respect our sovereingnty and just as they would, am sure, think twice about bombing other stronger nations in order to kill one individual, they should do the same with weaker nations, if only out of respect for international law and order. To even get aid they will have no choice in my opinion but accept democracy..meaning elections by citizens. If then the citizens choose otherwise, in all probability so will it then be. Of course non of us can see the future so non of us can predict what the results of the most dreaded action -to surrender-will be. It is sad to see that tribalism has raised back up again its ugly head. For a time it was all peace and we were all argueing ideas and there seemed to be hope altleast for you youngsters or so i thought. Thanks Malika I know Islam is beautiful and to fully submit to the teachings of the islam gets one into a beautiful state. I sometimes fear that kind of peace i think. During my last years of my secondary school i suddenly woke up to the fact that i was going to finish school soon and i was failing everything for i spent most of my time dodging classes and doing my own thing. The world started spinning around. I knew only poverty all my life and yet here I was going to the enter the world of the grown men and i was going to have to support myself very soon. I made a u turn and burried myself in my books. Sat right next to me was this boy who came from even a poorer background and i can still see vividly how at peace he was. Nothing could have been on his mind, he even used to sleep right in the middle of classes and all. He was worse than i was in school. I still cant help but think of him and ever since i knew i had to resist that state of mind. Maybe i am being paranoid here but is it possible to have peace of mind that is , that is not disabling at the same time. What i mean is peace of mind because you have covered most ground. You have nothing to worry about because there is nothing that warrants that from you. I cant help but think that peace of mind should be earned through hard work and rigorous mental excersises instead of inducing it through ritual or meditation. Because to be aware of all possibilities and keep pace with them in order to just be free from their coercion one must necessarily be in a state of allertness maybe even worried constantly or maybe not i dont know. Democracy is what people adopt when they lack faith. Deciding on what you know and leaving what you dont until enough knowledge is available is i believe theist. Deciding by the throw of the dice as is democracy is skepticism full blown ie is athiest. Democracy is ultimately fueled by doubt while Islam meaning submission is driven by thrust.Democracy has no direction and lust overides restraint almost all the time.In democracy the good is decided by the individual and every individual of age has an equal say in this.Democracy is a system that is only good at a particular stage of developement and is not suitable for those that must lay a foundation. Islam has a direction as in a moral code and thus lays a clear target as the GOOD.In Islam we all move towards the same goals. Islam lays the foundation for a better society.

I believe i have submited myself but i still have not found peace. Every time i am ready to settle and build myself a home, something rocks my foundation and everything comes apart.

Firstly we need to stop supporting those that disguise themselves in sheep’s clothing and try to sneak into our hearts with sweet words, while all along, all they need is security from nature wrongfully. By this I mean they seek to escape the need to earn a living by the use of ways and means that will lead to our destruction. We all must work for what we must either consume or exchange with other people’s products and services and to seek to merely circumvent such a necessary process of production and mutual exchange of goods and services to merely consuming without contributing or even worse consuming while debilitating any further production is unworthy of a human being. To do that while lacking comprehension will railroad all of us off even more cliffs. We are already off a cliff as it is. I don’t really believe that cultures and traditions must be kept per se or even protected. I am one of those that believe cultures are constantly created and ways and means that go unchallenged slowly pass into cultures and traditions. This means that the generations to come will incorporate our do’s, don’ts and how’s into who they are without resistance or even sometimes understanding. Some will even protect them to death. We have all done things on auto pilot without giving them much thought. Being on auto pilot will never be a problem if the default settings are adjusted to the new realities every so often as new information , broader and deeper, comes in, so as to maintain justice for all. When bad ideas are tolerated, acquiescence soon gives way to endorsement. So we must then beware of what we let in to our cultures and those ideas that we (each individually and so as a whole) deem harmful must be rigorously subjected to scrutiny and only those that pass this scrutiny with flying colours then be allowed to filter through to the rest of the society. While at this we might as well go as far back as is possible to examine ourselves and weed out ideas that are not good, in order to put right our wrongs . In this way each Somali shall live to the true meaning of each being his brothers keeper. What are then these ideas which we as guardians must not let slip through the sieves? Of course any idea that one can see straight away to be harmful to life falls right in this category. But not all ideas can be so easily categorised and some may need a very high level of awareness either from education or otherwise. Especially those that are already part of us. Nothing is to me more important than the will. It is the will that organises everything. The will to live, commands our muscles and our minds to that purpose. The will to justice engages our hearts and makes us virtuous. The will to know helps us on our way to a better understanding of ourselves and our world so we may live and let live. With the will at the helm we set forth taking the command of ALLAH swt that says FANTASHIRU FIL ARDI WABTAQU MINFADLI LAAHI WADKURULAAHA KATIIRAN LACALAKUM TUFLIXUUN One way of knowing what to avoid is to look into our needs - individually naturally and collectively as far as peaceful coexistence and mutual survival is concerned. On a higher level of consciousness when conscience reigns supreme, then it may be wise to seek also that which promotes life (all life) and protects the ecosystem. But that will be a task for, GOD willing, the generations to come. Anyway from our needs ideas and actions get organised and ordered by precedence. These ideas gain weight and value and slowly emerge from fuzz and all is as clear as the daylight. Our needs Paramount now is the need for peace no other need comes even close to it in importance. So how to peace ? The very first idea that is of utmost importance to our society, a society burdened by an incredible amount of waste and unhealthy frictions and fights, as is found in our homeland and among many of our people , is a convention on non violence. We must all agree and come to accept from understanding that not to act out frustrations from injustices, real or perceived, violently is in our interest, all of us . This is true were we organised into groups or as individuals. At the end of time , when we all come before ALLAH swt, it is the individual that will be judged according to his camal and there will be no collective to be seen anywhere to stand trial. There can be no collective or a collective if the individual is not acknowledged as a sovereign. Thus the need for each to accept that others can have opinions and ways that we may not like or even agree with and that they have all the rights to think and act differently as long as they wont force us physically to their ways. They may try to persuade us to their ways but a simple no should suffice to try anymore. Among citizens it imperative for a general acceptance that a citizen may not raise his voice let alone his hands or weapons against another. To say no to violence against another is to stop one coming your way to a degree. This is not easy and many choose the easy way out. Just like water, so do many seek the path of least resistance. Not to act violently by restraining oneself is a great source of energy. You don’t believe me ? just try it out. A different direction is to slump head down, swallowing your pride believing that you have been transgressed and your self and property violated and cant do nothing about it. This is not good and will lead to a depression or an unhealthy internal conflict. It will break our will and that is the last thing we want. Watching a lion jump hoops and perform acts in a circus nearly draws tears to my eyes . I know how fiercely independent lions are and how that is important to their lives and health . If to break an animals will is wrong to break a human beings will is even worse. There is only one will -the will to live and oppression to will , is like water to fire. That is why understanding is the means to non violence not submission. Having saved all that energy from wasteful ventures gives a lot of power to our abilities to find solutions otherwise. And that in turn leads to the discovery of outlets that will better reward us. All those who practice such restraint and conscious redirections of energy and resources will have a lot to gain and nothing to loose except loss itself. All those we deal with will also benefit. A resolve like that reduces all the commotion and finally locomotion is possible. Where we go from there then will be up to us. So we ought to choose wisely. Firstly calm settles everything according to weight. By this I mean the most sensible will settle first and the most hollow last. Roles will reverse. While the most hollow caused the most commotion and stirred all sorts of dirt and filth that blinded and brought the worst out of us for almost two decades, the most sensible will help calm the rest of us and all will be as clear as water in a reservoir, ready to promote life. So brothers especially my dear friends who believe that traitors ought to be purged out of the system or the state, even by death, before we can move on , remember it is the means that make the man. Neither ideals nor ideas mean much if on their way to reality they eliminate those they were meant to save. The idea that must now not be let to slip through to become a custom is “violence as a means of solving disputes among us” Next in line after the convention on non violence is, in my opinion, another convention. This time it is to be truth. Truth is the alpha and the omega. A society that encourages true representations in all forms of representations will flourish, one that encourages distortions will disintegrate into decay and will eventually die out. We start with honesty which is truth from intension. This means we agree not misrepresent or distort truths that we already know even if it be to our advantage to do this. I will try and add some more on to this insha ALLAH. The youths of today have not inherited much but in a way they will have a blank slate on which they can now write their own rules. The values of their elders have surely nothing that can be salvaged. To build a new they must be prepared and not be afraid to lay in new foundations. That means to construct themselves first before they can construct their environment to suit their needs. Build on sand and the chances are it will sink under your own weight but build on a hard rock and the chances are your homes will stand the test of time.
