  1. Yeah, Germany hit the dust a few months ago and soon it will surpass the USA. The chinese economic wonder is worrying specially given their clout in Africa and supporting dictators.
  2. I pay almost 46% of my earnings in taxes but I am happy to pay more. It is not taxes per se but what is done with it.
  3. Yes, Changi is so good. I have been there and I recalled the old song " I always feel like somebody is watching me" because there is an air of big brother in the whole of Singapore. It must be the cleanest city state in the world; cycling, chewing gum and smoking can get you a fine
  4. Why do I get the feeling that NUNu is inventing this story? Because I have seen somalis who claim that Lenin/Marx were prophets but never Albert E.
  5. Juxa, yes, finally I have got info that I have to spend the night at Baracas airport and they will see what happends tomorrow. Modern society is very volatile to the forces of nature. I soo duceeya inaan beri subaxii baxo. V; Airboorka misaajid kuma yaalo; I am paying for my own stay but I have access to the Internet.
  6. Malika, thanks, I was calling our h/q and they are gone for the day. Sincerely, I have never felt this way for quite a while; imagine being at airports and no one gives information.
  7. My picture of the day is at Baracas and Lenate airports. I have taken a picture but I am a computer ilitrate and I can't put it on line.
  8. mmmm, yes I do worry. I guess I will be make the 1500 mark on SOL because it is my only company
  9. Yeah, in Milano, I met alot of ALORES and some really integrated women previously, there is actually a somali quater but I left Milano about 4 hours ago.
  10. Does your travel insurance cover pay for transport to Africa because I am thinking of taking a flight to Kenya? I have a government insurance that covers death, injury and lose of property but I am not sure whether it covers extra expenses e.g. hotels and flights. Anyone who can help?
  11. Right now I am at Madrid airport but there is talk about taking a flight to Frankfurt/Milano again !
  12. The character known as B is funny. This las/lad is either an intellectually gifted person who wants to test the SOL members' or he/she is simply a person in need of some freduian help. Either way, he/she is insane in the membrane
  13. Asc, I am stranded in a european city because the volcanic ash from Iceland and I can't see any geeljire. Normally in cities in western europe, you may find one or two somalis.. But this place is empty of Maryooleys, the only people you see are some other africans (yaay i cunin kind). I have been on and off flight to Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Milano. This is the time that I really need somalis, so if you are in those cities please drop me a private message and you may be my guide.
  14. Where the hell is Saaxil? Aduunyow xaalka ba' It seems that while the south has been characterised by anarchy, north of Beerlula, people have been busy with name invention; the other day I met someone who claimed that he is from "Galmudug" and another one claiming to be from Maakhir. Are names like Sool, Awdal, Baki, Sanaag, Mudug gone?
  15. ^^^^ you have a point. Development is a term that needs to be discussed. The truth of the matter is that the historical experiences of the colonial and undeveloped countries has demonstrably been quite different, available theory therefore fails to reflect the past of the underdeveloped part of the world entirely, and reflects the past of the world as a wholly only in part. But why do African countries come up with their own measure or redefine the notion of development?
  16. Before you condemn this person, it is important to note that human beings develop immunity towards several diseases (and the ability of their body to fight it off) because of the environment. For instance, Malaria could kill easily kill a European while some people in the tropics have adopted a strong immunity (sounds like Darwin's theory of evolution). For a person from say Somalia who came and lived in the northern hemisphere for quite awhile this might mean that his immunity advantage is partially lost when he/she returns to Africa. Almaganow, reer baadiyaha sidaasi uma dhaqmaan. Malaha islaanta tiri " Ar lee kan ma dhiiqaye maxaa ku dhacay?" malaha waa dhal magaalo? Dadku waxaay u kala baxaan waranle, wadaad iyo waable. Waa waablaha (read: dhal magaalo) kuwa balada ismoodo markaay Soomaaliya ka soo tagaan. Reer baadiyahu dibadaba wuu ka cabsadaa oo baabuurkaba wuu ka matagaa, diyaarad iskaba dhaafe
  17. Cowke, my analysis of thee is that you are a young man seduced by tribalism (you may disguise it as regionalism - or lalalalaland). How many threads did you introduce asking questions about different entities of somali life? Free your mind from tribalism and you are likely to be the star that SOL is craving for A logical conclusion from you rants above is this: - Puntland own the majority of the Hawalas - Cowke does not want to name Dahabshil - Gedo and Onlf have none. Where do you want to go with this fadhikudirir nacnac? The Xawala's are first and foremost a busines; and businesses are not driven by tribalism but a desire to make money- profit maximisation.
  18. I don't understand how the otherwise intelligent and smart Mr. Somalia has introduced this bs called "dhoolatus". This is a disgrace to the word "dhoolatus" saaxibiyaal ee isku xishooda; subxaanalah. What I see is a bunch of soldiers participating in a parade; I see no weapons, tanks, planes, ships etc. Watch youtube on how the real dhoolatus was in the 70s and 80s. Even warlord Suudi can assemble a few qaat chewing mo-oryaans, provide them with cheap uniforms and ask them to parade. War waa la xishooda. This kind of threads will not portray Puntland as having a mighty army. Right, Mr. Duke? Caruurtaan maad la hadashid?
  19. ^^^why is that? i.e. why are you glad?
  20. Originally posted by nuune: ^^ I think you are protesting too much here(regarding your alleged arrest recently), and making things out of nothing by saying NFD people are treated as second class, how do you expect them to be treated, a Kikuuya, or Masai! the first point you forgot is that you totally erased your mind that NFD is a lost region of Somalia, and is currently colonised in a fishion-democratic-look-like-way, a bit differnt of what Ethiopia doing, just keep that in mind unless you forgot, which seems you did forgot that NFD is colonised by Kenya yaa Mr Entrepreneur I can write multiple arrests that I went through as many as 10 times just recently(past couple months) in and around Garissa, and still I find the developments of NFD as something that needs to be mentioned, how it was couple years back, and now is something you need to educate yourself and not rely on an arrest that took place out of nowhere, I would not protest a single arrest that I went through, at the end of the day, we Somalis from Somalia, and Somalis in the NFD region are still one, whether treated second citizen or not is not the point, the day this land would be liberated is not far away, and that is a progress made by Somalis in NFD areas, they now held high psitions in the region and in the country of Kenya as a whole, you just need to wait! Alot of people compared NFD to that region of Somali Galbeed, one is totally colonised to the inner core, and the other is the oppossite, I am glad you didn't make that comparison. Yaa nuune, honestly I don't understand your point. The only sentence that I understood and which I hold dearly is the assertion that Kenya colonises the NFD. So, true...
  21. Faarax B, No, No, that is not a big thing. We don't want to turn a page!!!!! You cannot write a constitution of a nation that is denying basic rights to your consistuency; or of a government that has refused to release the latest census because somalis make up a large percentage of kenya. I haven't read the constitution but I hope it has some provisions on: -on the abolition of lte kpande - it seeks to bring to justice those who committed crimes etc. And I doubt that. It is still the same Kenya where you Mr. Brown should always be ready to treated as a second class citizen.
  22. Yes, he is trying. But you need more than trying Haatu. You need a strong leader that knows the history of the province; the late Khalif was a great guy and I doubt whether the NFD will ever produce a son like him. Did you notice the police dress in the NFD is different than that of the other parts of Kenya? Do you know that the laws of emergency are still in place?
  23. Of course, the people of Garissa are very good somalis. Because it is the capital city of the province there is bound to be more jaajus than other place. If somalia rises, my guess is that Mandera and Buulo xaawo will be one major town. Mandera is very impressive and has grown since the 90s. Mandera town and some parts of Bulo Mpya look like Muqdisho in the 80s; Datchas and villas. A small plot in Busley costs more than a fortune. The area new the border iska daa The growth of both Mandera and Garissa is the result of the civil war in Somalia. Wajir on the other hand is behind in terms of the development. Maybe it is because it is not a border town. Haatu, waa runtaa. The two isbaaros of the town are horrible places. Many times we were forced to march on the river. Are they building a road between Garissa and Wajir because there is alot of activities going on.
  24. Hopeless, incompetent and munaafuq. His is a classical case of how power and money corrupts. This is madaxweyne mar i dhaha at its worst. The global community will be tired of his nacnac and experts will be warning that is he is useless and soon he will be left to the wolves.Expect another reconciliation meeting somewhere and the selection of another incompetent president
  25. I wish Abdulkadir Lawyer could be as active in making sure the somalis of the NFD are granted their human rights. The NFD people are still under emergency. The 1967 shifta act and the many other acts mean that the rights of movements, basic rights are infringed. I wish he could use his knowledge of the law to bring justice to the victims of Wagalla, Malka re and Garissa. Writing a new constitution of a country which treats some of its population as second class citizen and a country that is not communicating the results of the census because the number of somalis is more than estimates will not grant him applauses. By the way Abdulkadir Lawyer's seat was previously held by Billow Kerow (one of the finest pan-somalist)from the NFD. The NFD is producing leaders who might feel the shoes of Khalif aun.
