  1. ^^ Nothing to be concerned about, saaxib. Your actual questions were already answered in my original posts. That you choose to ignore such answers and would rather demand a clear and unequivocal reply is down to your stubbornness and not my evasiveness. But, still, I shall play the fool and state what is obvious to anyone that read my posts dispassionately and without any paranoid notions about a 'war on hijab'. If I were ever to force a child to wear the hijab it would be once they have reached puberty. This would be when they're nine years of age (or older, whichever comes first). Neither they nor I are obliged to insist upon it anytime before that. Where I agree with Rahima and Blessed is in the fact that they made this very explicit in their replies. They encourage the hijab at a young age but they do not coerce or force. Faith, my concerned brother is yusor not cusor. If you decide to complicate matters and employ extreme measures because you perceive an attack on your faith, it is you that one should be concerned about and not I. I am trivialising the subject by the way. I repeat, for a child to wear the hijab is NOT an obligation. So, the discussion in general should be one of preference, no more or less. If you decide to come back and use Rahima's example about Sunna fasting or praying I would advice you not to bother. I intentionally ignored that part of her argument because I've already agreed with the rest of her sentiment. However, if you think a little more about that point, I'm sure you'll see why the analogy does not apply here. We cool?
  2. ^^ North, females, children and people of a nervous disposition regularly view this site. It would not be nice. Heh@JB
  3. What is the problem, Serenity?
  4. I bet if I sent Paragon my poem, he'll take me off this list of shame.
  5. ^^ North IS part of it.
  6. ^^ And some people point at my Somali when people such as these exist on this site. Paragon, why are you not including CL and Malika in that list?
  7. A&T, The mouse said: Why are you all staring at me in such a way, lions? I'll have you know that before I got married, I was a LION too.
  8. ^^ Like I said, I have no problem with your argument at all. It is reasonable and fair. But I have a problem with Ayoub's and a few of the others. Ayoub, The following is from the first three pages. It started with KK saying: A three or four year old has no business wearing xijaab Someone agreed with her on this and north replies: ^^Can't they be kids WITH their hijaabs on aswell? Is it holding them back? From what? Cadaan agreed with him and said: second that. Girls will be girls, hijaab or not. And if you don't put it on them early, they'll reject it later. Nino hit us with: dadkiinaan fahamka ayaa niigu yar. ciyaaalkan tababar bey ku jiraan si ay ula qabsadaan xijaabka iyo si ay u fahmaan muhiimkiisa. Its all about bringing up ur child in the right manner. Are you telling me you dont teach your children how to pray or how to have good manners...dadkaan isla fiicanaa North said: Whether a child wears it as a 5 year old, 9 year or 12 year old doesn't really matter. Ibtisam said: A 5-6 year old can understand that just fine. Faheema was talking about her nieces wearing the hijab at 2/3 years of age! (Now tell me which one of these people is the Satan that you're talking about, saaxib).
  9. ^^ No. NO. Remember the title of this topic and keep your hijab on, saaxib.
  10. ^^ Simple spelling corrections are nothing. The meaning is not lost on you, is it? Actually, don't say.
  11. ^^ خاف الله يارجل
  12. ^^ I don't think he'll ever comment on my Somali again. I wrote him a little something something in PM that will shut him up for good.
  13. ^^ Warya, ma sida A&T bad doonaysa en aan PM ser ku qoro oo kugo tuso xariifnimatidi xaga af somaliga heerkay gaadhay? Ok, bal i yara sug..wallahi wan ku gabyi doona (but it's not suitable for public consumption).
  14. Originally posted by Paragon: NGONGE, why do you ask? Just seemed strange that he'll ask those he labelled as warmongers if they're willing to be patient. Their argument all along was that the only way to deal with the Ethiopians was through a barrel of a gun and not round a table or via agreements. General indhacade, being the military man that he is would only call his troops to attention when there is a fight. These agreements do not concern him much. I could just picture him telling his ragtag boys: nothing to see here, lads. As you were.
  15. ^^ I agree. Shame you were not one of them. Rahima, I agree with almost all you wrote there regarding the hijab and the way you did it or think others should do it. My daughters wear it when they go to their Islamic classes in the evenings but they also frequently demand that they wear one when they go to school in the mornings. I don't force them into it nor do I encourage them (I still believe they're too young for the whole thing). Still, the first time they both demanded that they wore one to school, I bore them with questions just like I did on this thread (I can't help myself). I am happy that they do it and not really too bothered if they don't. I just find the tone of some of the replies where people talk about ensuring that children start practicing at a young age a bit uncomfortable. There is a hint of coercion (or at least oppressive encouragement) coming across in some of those replies. If their creator did not oblige them to wear it at such a young age, I really don't see why reasons of familiarity, practice and the like should. Ps I said I agree with almost all you wrote because the only thing I did not agree with was the part about not getting peace from Muslims. On trivial issues such as this one I'm sure there is no harm in having a disagreement. The bottom line after all is that it is not a religious obligation.
  16. ^^ If there was such a thing as group private messages I'd tell you and ayeeyo to corner that Ibtisam and talk some sense into her.
  17. Faheema, I miss Alle-u-bahane. I wonder when they'll let him back in (if he'll ever return that is). A&T, Did you hear the story about the lion's son's wedding? They say that the king of the jungle's son was getting married and that the lion invited other lions from all over the place to attend his son's wedding. On the night of the wedding and as all the guests were dancing happily and singing liony wedding songs, they heard a squeaky voice joining them in their roaring chants! The king lion waved his paws authoritatively at the other lions and gestured them to stop chanting one by one. The roars started to decrease singly until only the original puzzling squeak remained. Everyone in the hall followed the direction the squeak was coming from only to be surprised by the sight of a fully dressed mouse, with chest out, head up high and the loudest shrieks of pride streaming from his tiny mouth. After a while, the mouse noticed the silence around him and abruptly ceased chanting. He looked around and realised that all the lions were looking at him with a half-puzzled-half-angry look on their faces. The king lion roared angrily and asked the crowd: Who invited this insignificant little creature to my son's wedding? ROAAAAR. Tell me NOW. ROAAAAR. The mouse, coolly and with a whiff of annoyance in his demeanour, adjusted his jacket, straightened his tie and calmly wiped his forehead before surveying all around him and finally resting his eyes on the king lion. Do you know what the mouse said to the lion, A&T?
  18. She says: Cardiff people waa qaac He replies: the people are slightly more retarded than those in London... It the cornerstone of Somali settlers in the UK She comes back with: I think waad walaan tahey, you tell me off for saying something, then say the EXACT same thing. And then she goes and spoils it all by saying something foolish like: I have a well grounded family who’s lived there for donkeys years, into 3rd generation now and refuse to move. Don't know about 'beef', DD. This attraction looks fatal. ** Withdraws brother's application **
  19. ^^ Surely that last question of yours is rhetorical.
  20. Ibti, Tell me now. I have work to do you know. I can't keep refreshing the page all day long.
  21. I've seen it with my own eyes too. Now you too can.
  22. ^^ That's what YOU think, mate.
  23. ^^ What do you mean you didn't see the point? I don't qualify by the way but I'm curious.
