  1. Iraqis are cool but they're far (culture wise) from Somalis.
  2. ^^ The bandwagon is really what you and Ibti are on. All this business of "I am a Muslim and to hell with the world" is foolish. It is like you have to prove yourselves at every turn. I despise 'political' Islamists.
  3. ^^ No bandwagon, common sense badow yaho.

After 3 days it's already forgotten about. The mosque will be built and there will be more 'controversy' on it's opening day only to be forgotten about a few days later. From what the Imam said, a mosque is needed in that part of Manhattan. People have contributed and want a mosque near where they live and work. We should be giving them the benefit of doubt and hope it transforms US public opinion when built. Makes no difference really.

Seems like your shock was not general. It was only specific to the way some of us view women (not other nationalities). Physician, heal thy self. I would just like to add that Arabs come in every shape, size and cultural slant. For instance, a southern Yemeni (man or woman) would understand and follow 99% of Somali culture (from the dirac to the muqmad/odkac). A Yemeni from the North will understand less (one from Hadramout on the other hand, is practically Somali). Likewise, a Saudi from Riyadh will struggle to keep up with 50% of Somali practices (though one from Jeddah will easily fit in). Egyptians in the cities are hardly ever controlling or fussed whilst rural Egyptians are traditional and strict (though a Somali might probably get on with the rural ones culturally and the city ones socially). The Lebanese, Syrians and Plastinains would get totally confused with Somali culture but the beduin Jordanians will try to challenge you on your dhaqan and boast to you about their great grandfather who owned a million camels and wrote poetry about some pretty woman that lived meel cidlaa. Carabs are a whole civilasation, it's a machine that has many parts. Idinko na musbaaar yar bad ka dhigteen. Badow bila qalin waaxid.

  7. nuune, Dumarka don't matter ninyaho. Ama carab ha noqdaan ama Somali. Hadii aad ciraaqiyaad guursatid, dee waxa la odhan doona "waa geesi ciraaq weeraray o xabbad ka dhacay". Lakin anago miyaan ogalaan karna ino ciraaqi xabbad naga dhaco? Xaashaa.. Say it with me: Raaaaah!
  8. We are Somali. We are traditional. Our ancestors' habits of raiding other clans still burn strong in our DNA. We protect our cattle. We also protect our women. We are real men. How dare an Iraqi even dream of having one of our women? Raaaah! We are Somali. We have failed this sister but we shall do our utmost to ensure no others would stray from the fold or get pinched by some tricky outsiders. Raaaah! We are Somali. Why are we talking about this Iraqi woman anyway?
  9. Dr. Suleyman Ise [ Hagle tosiye], a Canadian citizen, is stranded in Buhodle town as Ethiopian troops patrol all the main roads. Whoever wrote this rubbish is being very devious with this Canadian citizen nonsense. It's not important to me and you (for we know he is Somali/Somalilander in denial) but a gaal reading it will think that this guy is some Canadian causing trouble in the Horn (like those Shababi Americans). Dee naga daaya.
  10. Originally posted by *Ibtisam: Blessed fine, establishing the prayer is all well and fine, but if it is just for that, then there is no need to plant it in a controversial area, it could be anywhere and I will only half object. BUT considering where it is being built, it needs to provide great service and answers to both Muslims and others who will either be drawn to it for one reason or another, and be able to defend itself from abuse and attack which it will get. It is only worth building if it will help the community provide answers or use it as platform or something. Otherwise is it really worth all the hostility and backlash Muslims will get? Can it even survive (assuming it goes ahead) if it is just a prayer hall/ mosque, without a structure, plan and purpose to sustain itself as the platform for the community and the pillar which supports it. The questions are: Is there an urgent need? Does it have to be anywhere near that area? Since it is going to create controversy, is it worth the effort? I believe the answers to this are all obvious and that you are being confrontational in supporting a mosque there. I do not trust the people who thought up the idea and think they're either naive (which I hope they are) or they have some sort of hidden agenda. It may be a mosque but the whole thing stinks either way. P.S. Sherban, stop being too sensetive about the use of West/Gaalo warya.
  11. Heh. A&T gets it right again. Originally posted by Abtigiis & Tusbax: I know. But I am not trying to appease the Pirates, who will all support Omer in any case. Even, Xinn will betray the Shariif now. Laakin, the way Sh. Hotel handled this is disgraceful. One sheikh Adan Madoobe fails to get the respect of the parliament. Omer's cabinet had no problem with one other and also with him. Sh. hotel comes to a press conference and says 'dawladii waan kala diray' as if the cabinet and the PM are ardo-looxleey la fasaxay. And no reason is given why? All to appease a former warlord, who reality has caught up with and who is told he can no longer pretend to be a respected leader of the Parliament. And in any case, when and if the Pirates stop piracy and human trafficking, they are the closest I have in Somalia, markaa waan u sii waji dhigan! Note that I am not optimistic the family mafioso led by Faroole and Sons will give up the underground businesses any time soon!
  12. Why not say that you hate some people, Ibti? Why does it have to be some SOMALI people? Hindida ka dhix bax.
  13. ^^ Agreed. Inter will win by two or more goals, though my bones tell me it will be a proper hammering (three or four). Kubbada baro.
  14. ^^ Hadaba aniga iga maqal (and Ayoub can come with all the rabbit punches he can muster) Inter will crush Bayern. It will be a walk in the park for them. Kubbada baro.
  15. ^^ War kubbada baro dee. I mean seriously, saaxib. Bayren is not in the class of Inter and will struggle to cope with Inter's style of play (now Jose will attack by the way). P.S. Karl was correct about Lucas. He has been Liverpool's best and most improved player this past season (better than all the other midfielders combined).
  16. ^^ I should do a thread to find out what side everyone is with these days. Horta are you still with Sh. Sharif or have you switched to Al Shabab by now? OR, are you back fully with SL? P.S. I think Castro is supporting Sh. Aweys these days.
  17. Inter will easily win this game. Easily.
  18. This is closer to Yusuf sacking Geedi than Nur Cade, Cawke. If the parliment is who sacks the PM, how in the world could Sh. Sharif fail when he has his own 275 there? In the end you know it's the PM that will have to go. We've been here before.
  19. Originally posted by Peace Action: Juje already jumped ship, LST. You're asking the wrong man How did you know? A wild clanish guess? Not sure where the 'clanish' part fits into this, saaxib. Are you lashing out for no reason again?
  20. ^^ I know. I am the only one with sense enough to see the madness you started. I've got to go home now. Same time tomorrow?

But really keep the whole area Muslim free because Muslims caused the death of so many just increases the fear people have of Islam and Muslims. It increases nothing. You go build the mosque fifty miles away and nobody would realise the ground zero plan and decide to have an opinion about it.

I know you see clearly how inappropriate such pictures are in this particular thread but you insist on defending JB who doesnt need defending. What JB did was like saying to a mother in mourning "Oh, your older son(the dead one) was magnificant and legendary but your younger son is murderous *******." Very inappropriate for the occasion. Dee ima fahantid. What else can I throw at you? And no, I am trying to be fair here. Jb posted a picture showing two groups with no comment other than youth of this time and youth of this time. You are saying it messed up the celebration but even the thread author (angry NNC or was it CNN?) started her thread with a passing mention of today's sad events. On top of that, Jb did defend himself later with the following: Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: quote:Originally posted by Hales: Nice comparison Jacayl-Baro, just shows how far the degradedation in society went. Exactly my point ! ! The future can be better though. Marka, what was the whole fuss about exactly? Dee naga daaya.
  23. ^^ You don't have to be scared of me, adeer. I am not going to eat you, fulay yahay. We will argue, throw as many words as we can at each other and then (soon) it'll be over. Al Shabab are the youth of 2010 (their name implies it). If you think there are other youth who are better, then you should have shown Jb, adeer. You didn't do that, you instead turned it into something dirty and childish. And when things got slightly bad you ran off shouting that you're a girl. Ceeb caleek. Juxa, this is a worthy battle. I am educating the masses. Wax fahan. P.S. Jb aniga kuu sheegaya ba in oo ciyaal suuq yahay marmarka qarkood but not on this occassion. Regardless, this really is not about Jb. Wax fahan.
