The deadlift is my favourite exercise FuFu, but squats are deadly. Has the pain been building up from previous workouts or only after the last lift? Allamagan, all the best brother, have a look at stronglifts.com and see if you like that kind of training.

Ibtisam you said you were starving twice and yet you only had food that wouldn't even fill up our house mouse. Now that is not a fitness freak diet . Take note of Lily's food. I've stopped caring about the taste and variety of my food. Every weekend, I cook a whole week's worth of lunch and dinner then split them into small portions and throw the whole batch into the freezer. I know of people can't eat the same food for 2 consecutive days, don't know why. My lunch and dinner is the same usually. For a whole week.

Ibti I think eating 6 meals a day or limiting carbohydrtes to before 6pm is mainly towards people who want way more than a healthy looking body, i.e big guns. 3 or 4 meals is fine, but all foods are not equal in terms of nutrients. It seems like you're expecting more out of nothing, but I'm afraid you can only get out what you put in. Telling us as much info as you can about your meals would give us a better picture. The food you mentioned isn't exactly the best thing for what you want, but it's doable. At least try to eat a complete breakfast lunch and dinner, and then have the deserts after the meals or in between. As long as you exercise hard enough to stress your body, it will find a way to burn those calories. Carbohydrates are the body's fuel, if you're not active enough that excess fuel will be stored as fat. However if you do weight training (you won't become muscular, it burns fat better than cardio) and/or intense running 3 times a week, you will feel healthy. You might think having a busy schedule which includes travelling a lot is enough activity, but it doesn't stress your muscles because they're working within their limits. Making your body do something it's not used to is what makes it change and adapt. I hope this makes sense. If you wanna eat junk, you need to train hard to make up for the extra fat intake and calories.

Tuujiye I was introduced to weight training about 3 years ago, and since then I've been working out on an off, mostly off really. I didn't get into it at all, doing 7 or more exercises in one session for different body parts was extremely boring. And doing a 5 or 6 day split wasn't an option either. It took too long to finish one workout and bored the **** out of me. And I was still skinny fat. A couple of months ago I found a website called Stronglifts.com and it's exactly what I was looking for. It's a strength training website, a little different to bodybuiling training. In 6 weeks, I haven't missed a single session (unheard of from me) and can say now that I'm officially addicted, so this is what I'm gonna stick with for the next 12 months inshallah. Have a look at that page. 2+2=5 Do tell how your first run goes I'm gonna bet it'll be 3 minutes of jogging followed with a couple of minutes of walking, then that voice in your head will come up with the best reasons to just walk back home. Yeah tomorrow it'll increase to 4 minutes..baby steps. Only to never run again.
  7. Who do you think deserves this title? Based on the level of skill, achievement, or impact on his sport. Or all of them combined. For me it's Roger Federer no doubt. I started watching tennis because of him, and I don't really need to qualify him. .

I asked my friend to try the Gold standard double chocolate and he thought it tasted like a McDonalds shake. It's the most expensive though. I've tried shakes that tasted like cement milkshake.

Fabregas, the best thing to do this is walk sideways with good form, maintain a straight back and your neck neutral.
  10. I think it's about time now that we have a specific section dedicated to everything related to general health and exercise. A fair number of SOLers are health conscious and want to learn more about fitness and dieting, but don't know where to start. We can share our goals to get motivation or help, and write about previous experience so others can get learn. This is what the Sport section should've been, but it's dominated by footy threads and only about 2 people post there. Come on Admin, srsly. Every member should vote.

Tuujiye threadka a cariirinin, ka bax yaqey Sheh you can't get the shredded look if you do cardio with an empty stomach without enough muscle mass to begin with. You'll get the anorexic look. You do the morning cardio when you have enough muscle that you wanna show off. You mentioned that you don't have enough muscle mass, so put this exercise aside for the time being. I personally think you need a full-body routine to be done 3 days a week, they should consist of 4 or 5 compound exercises. A compound exercise is an exercise that works several parts of your body whilst performing it. Example, pushups works chest primarily, but your arms (triceps mainly) and shoulder also benefit because they support your chest to push your upper body off the floor. Pull up works your upper back and arms. Your diet seems balanced. Edit - Good luck Fu-Fu! Do you follow a typical bodybuilder's regime of bulking then cutting? p.s I'm gonna clarify one thing as well, I'm not as experienced as Fu-Fu, so a lot of my opinions are from reading a lot about the subject. I'm a few months in towards my goals.

Ahahaah, so much for a Fitness Freaks thread. Good start. Fail Blog.
  13. Actually, it shouldn't be just a simple thread, we demand a whole section for this. The Jokes section needs to go.
  14. FUFU You should start the suggested thread saxib. There was a similar one a while back with great info from all the couch potato nutritionists/fitness instructors here, like me. As far as I know muscle loss occurs when you exercise hard and get careless with your food. For example hitting the weights hard without eating enough to supply you with energy, or doing cardio on an empty stomach (the opinions are split on this one). Once your glycogen is depleted your muscle is the next source of energy. I think 3 days is not long enough to cause noticeable changes. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Fat loss = calories spent by the body is greater than calories consumed. Muscle gain = Calories consumed is greater than calorie expenditure (including enough protein). Water loss = haven't got a clue. Yes you do need to eat protein to gain muscle, that's the only nutrient that's used for muscle building. But the muscles need to be worked hard enough to be able to benefit from the protein. They become stronger/bigger over time. The body doesn't get bulky that easily, you need to eat like a horse for that. Your current diet is fine. Working your biceps/tris/shoulders alone aren't effective for a beginner. The body responds better to compound exercises. Squats and lunges are perfect. For upper body I'd say Push ups, pull ups and dumbbell presses. Each one works several muscles at the same time. Perfect. I know you've asked FUFU, but I thought I'd get off the couch and chip in, innit. We both have the same goal. What kind of equipment did you buy?

    AVATAR

Count me in too. Judging by its trailer, Avatar and '2012' are really pushing the boundaries of visual effects. How exciting is the next decade gonna be for movies..
  16. What a fitting thread. Early happy birthday MAXIMUM POWERS.
  17. The only thing I got out of this thread is a craving for watermelon juice.
  18. Originally posted by Urban: You guys need to check this website out, I've been meaning to post it for a while now, I guess this thread is the most fitting place to do so. It's called The Sartorialist and it's filled with photographs of people on the street with a very interesting taste in fashion. Some of them are quite awful, but I went through the whole archive time ago and found really good inspiration. Who knew there is more than one way to wear a shirt? Check the 'biography' section to find out what the blog's about. He snapped this beautiful sister somewhere in Melbourne.. One thing I notice daily around campus is that stylish hijabis have a great touch for accessories and attention to color and detail. *I know I should lower my gaze more, but I can't help but appreciate a fashionista when I see one, male or female*
  19. Wow^. Talk about taking the jungle out of the monkey. I kid. That's an insane level of strength, so in your dreams bruv! . You'd be the man if you reach that level.

    Quitting Music

lol@recommendations in this thread. I wanted to start a similar thread for some time, but you beat me to it 5, high five! I think I'm an emotional person in general (no, not sissy), and music sometimes has too much power over my emotions and mood. I have tried to quit music a few times already, a year ago I did just that when I deleted my collection of 30GB+ with one click. Within a few days I felt weak and unenergetic. Instead of filling that gap with Quran or islamic lectures, I stupidly started my collection again, and now I have close to 50GB of pretty much useless shït from almost every genre. The fact that you can get these albums for 'free' doesn't help either, I always forget that it's also a form of stealing. I will quit again today inshallah, I've already deleted 15GB off my laptop, the rest is in the desktop, gonna sort that bad boy out later. Anyways, I'm with you on this 5, and will write about how I get on throughout this coming week.

    Sixir art

It's very creative, especially the message behind it. But this sort of thing has been around for some time. I think about a year ago a girl did this invisible skoda..
  22. Paragon what are you doing in Chaventry? I haven't spotted you around town. As for the topic, I too agree with Buuxo. I enjoy reading others' debates and/or banter more than contributing. Heh, I don't even think there's a single thought provoking line in my 800 and something posts, and I like it that way.
  23. The Notebook is a beautiful story. I'm gonna buy The Road book now based on Duke and Hayam's recommendation..
  24. That's a sound list, Choc&Honey. I want this coming year to be a truly memorable one. I haven't had one for a very long time. - Main goal: Study/intern somewhere in europe for 6 months as part of my uni program. - Read at least half of Ibn Kathir's tafsir of the Qur'aan. - Pay off my 2 stinking bank overdrafts asap. They've been on my shoulders for 4 years now. - Eat as healthy as possible to compliment my new found passion for strength training.
  25. Never mind, this is the thread I was looking for. Gonna watch these 2 movies tomorrow inshaAllah.
