  1. LOOOL @ run for politics! Safferz I think Somali men can't help joining politics- thanks. Tallabo- Leave fat people alone Somali P: I dont like what the Turks are doing the horn- and I'd rather pay from my pocket then take a scholarship from them or the Irainains- we are being recolonized by them- and their grip on the Somali education sector is starting to scary me. Little kids singing the Turkish national anthem, dont know how to write Somali or even Arabic.
  2. Safferz- that is wonderful- congratulations- We are a little different- it is easy to get into the institutions but extremely difficult to then find funding. So most be find the funding and then find what ever institution you want and providing you can find someone with interest in that institution to tutor you, then you are good to go. Most European Universities- including the very best are always looking for Phd on most African and Aisan countries when it comes to development - Somalia is also a recent obsession- so they are welcoming but finding funding is still challenging.
  3. I'd like to try Giraffe meat! I imagine like everything else- it taste like chicken Tallabo! lol I dont think so- it is pretty intense- doubt anyone will wanna do it publicly- here is a clip
  4. ^^^^^9 SCHOOOLS OH my GOD! lol you was really driven and dedicated! I am applying to ONE! if I get in and the scholarship as well then I will decide whether to do it next year or push it back. Can't imagine applying to 9!- doing one is time consuming enough- Thanks I will- I think I read somewhere you are in the field of history!? Interesting Are you enjoying it? any regrets or pulling your hair out yet? Not sure about exercise shop- you saw one? I dont tent to venture out much- even my office is inside my house- but they've opened a gym right across the road- I can see the sign. Been told it is good- keep meaning to cross the road and check- but time- no time for anything in life.
  5. The way you are talking SomaliPhilosopher- I certainly have better Akhlaaq then you. Adigu miid raadaso- right now,
  6. This week I have been reduce to eating cereal for breakfast, lunch and skipping lunch. I have not eat pasta and baris for a week and I sooooooo dont miss it! I miss fruits. I need exercise that does not make me lose weight but gives me energy- I am already disappearing from lack of balanced food. I am staying in Europe- research- they will just endorse my primary research- I hate INGOs/NGOs- written so much criticizing them in the Somaliland context that they hate me- small world it is and they take criticism personal- although corruption and mismanagement is personal I guess. North America is tooo far- I dont even know you guys survive the journey- I am a nomad who does short trips. Lord knows if I will ever visit Australia or Canada for example. lol
  7. Abaas if you can't beat us- join us. A place without women is truly abaar. And if God wanted us to be separated- he would've built a great big Chinese wall between female and males. So I refuse to toe any human segregation. I told them the same thing in Ceerigaabo- all their hotels and restaurants dont have a women's section but they have the cheek to tell me, women can't sit in the maqaaxi- I told them if my money is good, it will buy me food and I shall sit there in peace and eat. Good thing about Somalis is- waxaad ku khasabtiid, they will eventually accept- sometimes It just takes a bit long. My point is if I gatecrash real maqaaxi in the middle of nor where with the nomads- I certainly aint going to be kicked out of an online maqaaxi unless I want to leave
  8. Really? haha I dont mind Insanity- I just hate that screaming bully early in the morning and in the evening I am too tired. Also you end up being hungry all the time- not enough time or food in Hargeisa. Economic Development is my field. I can't be asked- mainly because I am not sure I want to study Somali's for another 3yrs-I am losing interest.
  9. 9am!! wow lol. It is 4.20pm in sunny Hargeisa. Almost a day done and my application still not done. yiiiks- I am applying for my Phd, but I am figuring if it is taking me so long to write the application- I should probably not do it. lol I miss exercising- I started this work out called Insanity- check it out on Youtube- normally military workout. but I gave up after a week- requires eating too much food to maintain the energy for high intense workout.
  10. Safferz how you doing? Lets turn this shitty thread into something worth reading. I am sure people would rather read our chit chatter than clanish, politics, rude crude rubbish that children who come out to play write. aaah was that a little harsh- Oh well they are big boys How you doing? I am procrastinating
  11. What makes you think I need an offer from a confused qurbo joog kid who lives in the west, thinks he is in Ceerigaabo, and somehow thinks he impacts the roles of women or invite them anywhere. You, my boy are nothing but a child with an attitude so dont flatter yourself sweetie. We go where we want to go and do as we please- deal with it. Of course I just wanted to show that you have no self control- you told others dont talk to any female who comes in here- and yet here you are writing essays to me! lol haha
  12. The babysitting club is a children's story book- you must have read it in school nooh?
  13. Miskeen- this thread is dying. I remember markii aano naraah ka shiidi jireney- me and my family- where is Juxa? Salamaz people
  14. I dont understand how SOL now allows people privacy to be violated in this way- this are families and by the looks of it some of them look more together and religious than most Somali culture folks I know. Why are you posting pictures of Muslim families and particularly kids in threads? The mods in this forum use to be so strict back in the day- I dont know what is going on now.
  15. This is the most boring club every- even the babysitting club was better!!! Gate crash needed ASAP- Che
  16. I was thinking the other day to dig up an old thread about Xiin's peace caravan and some predictions I disagreed with at the time- which Xiin passionately rejected and if I remember correctly called me young and naive about the true divisions of Somalis and how easily it can be overcome. Welcome to the bitter and depressing reality brother.
  17. LOOL @ this thread- Regardless of how many generations we go- the issue of controlling Somali women options in marriage will remain important to our brothers. Mainly because Somali men think they OWN Somali women and no one else should mess with their stock. Cavemen mentality. Of course nin can do what he likes- because wa nin uu. I am always glad to see that Somali women continue to live their life as they see fit regardless of what their men folks say/do. People often comment oo "nin Somali aha miyaad weyed?" or like one of the poster said they think you married a foreign as a last resort" lol BUT lets be honest- the majority of young Somali women are incompatible with Somali men of their age or even few years older- so they will better fit with people who share the ideals and the same internationalist view point. If young Somali men want to retain the majority of Somali girls in marriage who were born/ grew up in the west- a shift in both ideas and mentality is required. Otherwise both can purse different options- girls with finding what they want in others and men can return home and purchase a traditional marriage. P.s. Regarding Somaliland Nationality- anyone living/ father born/living in Somaliland in 1960 can apply for Somaliland nationality- Including a heap of white British folks, Pakistanis and Indians. Also even kids with Somalilander mothers can have a Somaliland nationality so long as you can find a minister or elder to vouch for the mother. Naag daaya waaliid everything and anything is possible. Congrats to the happy couple- looks like an amazing wedding- humans celebrating happiness- none of this colour, clan, race shiiid Somali warereisey
  18. What does it matter- they are happy together in a private holiday- thats the problem with being famous- no privacy. I am sure you all go on holidays with your familys- it is just your pictures dont show up on SOL and elsewhere. I can't believe how amazing she looks after just having twins- that normally would destroy a womens' body- can't even see any stretch marks! good on her. Frigging perverts-leave her alone
  19. ^^^Tallaabo it is fine- there were flights every day- Nuune Jiin just took 2weeks off and decided to con Nuune by saying there was nothing to report. Not enough passengers for a big plan- yesterday there was only 20 people on the flight- I guess summer rush is over. Nuune it is also about time that your Jiin tells you: Berbera Airport is closing- refurbishment and then opening as a Cargo airport only- maybe summer time it will help with them passenger load.
  20. Here is an article which is close enough to the truth of the matter. http://somalilandsun.com/index.php/politics/government/3816-somaliland-ethiopian-airlines-wants-proper-security-measures-put-in-place-at-egal-airport
  21. ET will resume flights tomorrow inshallah- given all clear from NSA
  22. Nuune There is no ET plan landing or taking off at Egal airport, today, yesterday or any other day. What did happen though is that ET chartered a jubba airways flight to take all the passengers with travel documents who were unable to fly by going on the road to Jigjiga and where stranded here. The flight is a temporary measure to cater to such people and return them to their county of origin. The flight went to Djbouti where passengers were immediately transferred on to a ET flight to land in Addis. There were some Ethiopian officials who came with the flight- If ET does resume flight it was will be the same flight as they are happy to use the runway as it is and complies with its safety requirement. As for yesterday, ET officials said they expect service to return in 4-5days, That aside I know they were exploring other options such as having more ET flights to Burco (already ruled out after they opened a liaison office there four months ago) Moqdishou and Bossaso operated by Jubba on behalf of ET. The only problem is Jubba cannot land in Ethiopia- so it will be picking passengers up from Djibouti or Hargeisa as plans stand now. ET prefers landing in Berbera but will be based in Hargeisa.
  23. They can't, till NSA finish their song and dance about security issues- al shabab and senior governmental figures with links to Al-shabab.
  24. The Ethiopia National Security Agency advised ET to pull out immediately due to a unspecified security risk. Upon ET meeting with NSA on Friday it transpired that the security risk they have been pulled out for is according to the NSA "posed by incomplete airport barrier and rumors of planes not being able to take off safely due to length of airstrip hence endangering Ethiopian Nationals". ET has submitted their technical assessment and the report of the independent inspectors of Egal airport- they have also argued that it is not NSA role to comment on technicalities, or pull airlines out without assessing information from experts and ET has taken all the necessary steps to ensure safety of passengers and ET nationals. Needless to say it has been a little embarrassing for NSA and now they are dragging their feet saying there are other security issues also including senior official links to Al-shabab- which should clear up soon as it is NSA just covering their a*ss. We are expect ET to start flying again soon as NSA gives the clear. ET is providing refunds, reimbursing cancelled tickets or lost connections for all passengers affected.
  25. Good development- the exchange is ridiculous and Eerigaabo is very expensive! Even water costs more! Makes economic sense for them to do so- Burco has benefited from switching-
