  1. Lol @ Layzie G! I am intrigued to know who she is and what crazies she attracted here! Also can you please do us a favour and enable your PM- some of your old fans want to send (reply) to messages now that you are back.
  2. Layzie G- how you doing!!!? I am glad to see you out and about- I have missed you. Now every time I read something in SOL it is the equivalent to watching a comedy show centered around "Yo, your mama is so FAT, that when she jump for joy, She got stuck" ala Canadian hindi comedian Russel peters. lol I hope you are well and life has been good to you. We should have an SOL oldie's reunion thread- figure out where your beloved Shiekh Sharifi got to, Xiin sadly dropped that damn heavy peace caravan, and North is still stubborn- Johnny is still chasing skirt, but they are worryingly getting younger each year- he might get into trouble at this rate without intervention.

So you are just a troller than- as I said I dont expect you to. Why, thank you- I will have a good, beautifully blessed day, inshallah. AP: It is never personal- my opinions are mine regardless of whether other forum users find the useful or empty. and I was just pointing out the irony your new acquired position. I'm out- enjoy the armature shouting debate which now passes as religious discussion. P.s. Supernatural covers a vast area
  4. Oiler;982607 wrote: Haha indeed. She hasn't said nothing at all. You can tell that she was not trying to direct anything to our friend on the far left. No, my friend- it just went above your head- it is okay it is not your fault. Ap: You have graduated from pretending to be an atheist to sitting on the sides make childish remarks- congratulations.
  5. I find Said Rage hypocritical in this topic- he left his Somali wife and kids for a blond, blue eyed women- and his Somali wife's family paid for HIS wedding when he was a broke student. On reflection I am sure the family regret being so nice to him. I heard one story does not constitute "lots" or "facts"- an anomaly at best.
  6. A little ego stroking and you are all happy. Simply men What she said is the same as what every women on this forum has been shouting at you for years. Marrying outside the Somali race has nothing to do with Somali men- often it just so happens two people fall in fall and marry. I dont know if there are a large proportion of Somali women saying "I will never marry a Somali man, I am going to make an active choice to marry a noneSomali" What I do often hear is girls saying "I've always wanted to marry a Somali, but can't find one I am compatible with, I'm start considering other Muslims" And like Kowthar says- nothing wrong with that. At 18, maxaa iyaad waxaan ka galey ba? What happened to keeping your head in the books- She should not even know men exist at this age- let alone categorize them.
  7. Too little knowledge is very dangerous- It really is sad and shameful when people try to aggressively dress something Islamic with all the childishness and immaturity that is evident in this thread. Debating Islamic issues requires certain level of akhlaaq or ethics- particularly those posing as poster childs for Islam. If you want to make a point, you should do so without getting personal- really girls on facebook using big words? is that a joke?- that is the whole point of a presenting a different argument so that someone may benefit from you- otherwise why bother? Islam is not who shouts the loudest in an obnoxious fashion or how many cheerleaders they are performing for. It is painful to watch and achieves nothing. As for Liberal Arts- if you fear your kids being led astray in less than 3yrs then you failed your duty as a parent first and foremost educate and bring your kids up in an Islamic manner- most people get to University earliest at 18. A good parent would've ensured that by then- their kids have the foundation and grounding Islamically to intellectually defend their believes, respond to challenging thoughts without losing their way and possible even educate others. Of course if you just have them and let them go sidada adhiga and try to hide behind protecting them from any ideas that might challenge them- in this age of the open source- you will fail. Education is too fold- what you practice and teach at home and their formal studies- and the two go hand in hand. As for the topic- my own up bring and Islamic education in a salafi following school and home environment is more on the rigid side which is why I dont get into religious debates but I think you have all agreed on the bottom line which is your sinful actions only take you across the board IF you defend it- for example the gay Muslim community in the UK has two groups- one who advocates that God made them gay genetically and therefore it is okay and they should be accepted like normal marriages and Islam needs to be reformed to reflect this-- OR the other group who believe that this is their challenge in this world and they need to overcome it. I personally dont believe that Islam needs any reform in anything- if something does not fit we can't package it or mold it so that it appears to fit even if it is something that current affairs cannot accept- our role is not to make Islam more acceptable or appealing or tolerant. Islam in its own way is acceptable, appealing, and tolerant- although as evident in this thread Muslims are often rude, hostile and intolerant. On the flip side to people who feel they need to explain Islam, make it vague and contentious so that we dont appear extreme are people who try to justify things quickly and without evidence (or the strength and validity of the evidence they are presenting) for example I've seen so many people making blanket statements such as: "everyone knows the punishment for adultery is stoning to death". So change works in both ways, being definitive in ways Islam is not is also an attempt to change Islam. I also seen memebers implying that marrying other races/ colour/nations is not islamically encouraged- we should be-careful about WHAT we attribute to Islam- there are things which are difficult to accept or you dislike but Islam allows- a true believer needs accept and move on. So lets play nice and by all means have a good and valid discussion on these issues but true to the spirit, kindness and good character of Muslims and if you are not Muslim, the honest character of a Somali. Those who were members in 2004-2006 will remember all the religious debates Johnny B, North, LazyG, Me, Sheh, and Nur the resident shikh of SOL use to have- it never got personal and in our own way we all learnt something- Khyre will testify that even Johnny B now days is closer to Islam then back in the days, dont you agree? Peace and Baris
  8. Great we are going to have a new generation who speaks Somali, write Turkish, Farsi, French, English and mixes it all up. lol IT will take them a while to actually get to doing anything in Somali context. Plus they are still recovering and struggling with the North Africans
  9. I thought the French were staying in DJ- they are not in Somaliland- can't imagine they are ducking bullets in flipflops like the turks in South either
  10. LOOOL @ run for politics! Safferz I think Somali men can't help joining politics- thanks. Tallabo- Leave fat people alone Somali P: I dont like what the Turks are doing the horn- and I'd rather pay from my pocket then take a scholarship from them or the Irainains- we are being recolonized by them- and their grip on the Somali education sector is starting to scary me. Little kids singing the Turkish national anthem, dont know how to write Somali or even Arabic.
  11. Safferz- that is wonderful- congratulations- We are a little different- it is easy to get into the institutions but extremely difficult to then find funding. So most be find the funding and then find what ever institution you want and providing you can find someone with interest in that institution to tutor you, then you are good to go. Most European Universities- including the very best are always looking for Phd on most African and Aisan countries when it comes to development - Somalia is also a recent obsession- so they are welcoming but finding funding is still challenging.
  12. I'd like to try Giraffe meat! I imagine like everything else- it taste like chicken Tallabo! lol I dont think so- it is pretty intense- doubt anyone will wanna do it publicly- here is a clip
  13. ^^^^^9 SCHOOOLS OH my GOD! lol you was really driven and dedicated! I am applying to ONE! if I get in and the scholarship as well then I will decide whether to do it next year or push it back. Can't imagine applying to 9!- doing one is time consuming enough- Thanks I will- I think I read somewhere you are in the field of history!? Interesting Are you enjoying it? any regrets or pulling your hair out yet? Not sure about exercise shop- you saw one? I dont tent to venture out much- even my office is inside my house- but they've opened a gym right across the road- I can see the sign. Been told it is good- keep meaning to cross the road and check- but time- no time for anything in life.
  14. The way you are talking SomaliPhilosopher- I certainly have better Akhlaaq then you. Adigu miid raadaso- right now,
  15. This week I have been reduce to eating cereal for breakfast, lunch and skipping lunch. I have not eat pasta and baris for a week and I sooooooo dont miss it! I miss fruits. I need exercise that does not make me lose weight but gives me energy- I am already disappearing from lack of balanced food. I am staying in Europe- research- they will just endorse my primary research- I hate INGOs/NGOs- written so much criticizing them in the Somaliland context that they hate me- small world it is and they take criticism personal- although corruption and mismanagement is personal I guess. North America is tooo far- I dont even know you guys survive the journey- I am a nomad who does short trips. Lord knows if I will ever visit Australia or Canada for example. lol
  16. Abaas if you can't beat us- join us. A place without women is truly abaar. And if God wanted us to be separated- he would've built a great big Chinese wall between female and males. So I refuse to toe any human segregation. I told them the same thing in Ceerigaabo- all their hotels and restaurants dont have a women's section but they have the cheek to tell me, women can't sit in the maqaaxi- I told them if my money is good, it will buy me food and I shall sit there in peace and eat. Good thing about Somalis is- waxaad ku khasabtiid, they will eventually accept- sometimes It just takes a bit long. My point is if I gatecrash real maqaaxi in the middle of nor where with the nomads- I certainly aint going to be kicked out of an online maqaaxi unless I want to leave
  17. Really? haha I dont mind Insanity- I just hate that screaming bully early in the morning and in the evening I am too tired. Also you end up being hungry all the time- not enough time or food in Hargeisa. Economic Development is my field. I can't be asked- mainly because I am not sure I want to study Somali's for another 3yrs-I am losing interest.
  18. 9am!! wow lol. It is 4.20pm in sunny Hargeisa. Almost a day done and my application still not done. yiiiks- I am applying for my Phd, but I am figuring if it is taking me so long to write the application- I should probably not do it. lol I miss exercising- I started this work out called Insanity- check it out on Youtube- normally military workout. but I gave up after a week- requires eating too much food to maintain the energy for high intense workout.
  19. Safferz how you doing? Lets turn this shitty thread into something worth reading. I am sure people would rather read our chit chatter than clanish, politics, rude crude rubbish that children who come out to play write. aaah was that a little harsh- Oh well they are big boys How you doing? I am procrastinating
  20. What makes you think I need an offer from a confused qurbo joog kid who lives in the west, thinks he is in Ceerigaabo, and somehow thinks he impacts the roles of women or invite them anywhere. You, my boy are nothing but a child with an attitude so dont flatter yourself sweetie. We go where we want to go and do as we please- deal with it. Of course I just wanted to show that you have no self control- you told others dont talk to any female who comes in here- and yet here you are writing essays to me! lol haha
  21. The babysitting club is a children's story book- you must have read it in school nooh?
  22. Miskeen- this thread is dying. I remember markii aano naraah ka shiidi jireney- me and my family- where is Juxa? Salamaz people
  23. I dont understand how SOL now allows people privacy to be violated in this way- this are families and by the looks of it some of them look more together and religious than most Somali culture folks I know. Why are you posting pictures of Muslim families and particularly kids in threads? The mods in this forum use to be so strict back in the day- I dont know what is going on now.
  24. This is the most boring club every- even the babysitting club was better!!! Gate crash needed ASAP- Che
  25. I was thinking the other day to dig up an old thread about Xiin's peace caravan and some predictions I disagreed with at the time- which Xiin passionately rejected and if I remember correctly called me young and naive about the true divisions of Somalis and how easily it can be overcome. Welcome to the bitter and depressing reality brother.
