^^Dadkaan iska ilow, adiga you just pay attention to your future mrs intanan maya laga hor keenin.

I’m only objecting to the marriage thing. I think more people would be inclined to attend if it was just informal meeting or an event of some kind. I don’t like the fast forwarding of meeting a possible Mr-Man-of-my Dreams, into ready to tie the knot. It seems to cut out all the interesting & fun bits.

Miss D&D, enjoy yourself and do shop for lovely scarf’s & skirts on my behalf. If it’s warm enough you could also find a ladies only beach and strut your stuff in a hot bikini. Enjoy. I just had my yearly appraisal with no pay raise. Time to for a new job. Maybe I should have asked for it...Oh well.

Cano Geel, it could be anywhere and one should be open minded but having said that it's one thing to go somewhere with the intention of meeting someone (speed dating, party, etc.) but to team that initial meeting with marriage is totally too much pressure. It’s almost trying to make the meeting ‘halal’ not that I see it as haram, by mentioning marriage. Chub, meeting someone you know should be the least of your worries. Ngonge, in English please, I havn't the energy to google it and pretend to understand it.

Whilst I'm up for going after what you want & need, jokes aside, I think this is very strange.

Congratulations and commiserations -- hot of the press NinBrown's got hitched
-Lily- replied to Caano Geel's topic in General
Congrats NinBrown and best wishes to the new misses. I finally figured out who you are . Not sure what to think of the rejoicing girls at Farax Browns singlehood and that Cano Geel doesn't share food but looks smashing in a suit... Best of luck, I'm pridict few more SOL weddings are on the way. -
Here is an accomplished young woman in an interesting and unique field and you can’t look beyond her fitted top, what a shame.

Oh the vanity of it all! What are you plans for the weekend?

Ghanima, I don't think cyber and 'real' life are separate unless people have many alter egos. Posting on a forum is just sharing your opinions. What I say here is what I think. It would be too difficult to construct many versions of one self. p.s. you shouldn't apologise for being yourself. I don't recall you being particularly rude.
-
Ghanima, you’re going through classic-IR/Politics/Development Studies depression. Soon you will either be one of those rare brilliant sparks of people who DO or you’ll get an NGO job helping some wretched creatures out, or depending on how good your contacts are, your shoes could be heard click clicking in air conditioned mega international organisation headquarters. Either way, you will not loose out! Today I, I, ...

guys have u heard some beauty products r made from aborted feotus n killed babies? i heard from sheikh rashaad's muhadara on quruxda haweenka. i will get more info n post the link on muxadara LooooL Um Z, my aunt tried to tell me that and I told her not to be ridicules. Pls don’t believe that, it would be terribly unethical, besides, it sounds like something the oldies would chat about over extremely sugared tea. ‘We’?! How arrogant and mighty art though Pucca? I daresay it’s even tinted with a bit of unislamicness. Insha Allah you will overcome using the term ‘We’. In the meantime, don’t be surprised if people take two steps back. For the love of God, I cannot understand what this poster is ranting about. Here I was thinking some great injustice was done to the female kind and getting all my guns ready, oh well…

Dahia, even in war there are rules and one must find humanity in inhuman situations.

Yep, it looks like it's picking up again ME and Ghanima. Blair makes me sick, can he be more specific with his enemy? Whenever someone starts to refer to complex issues in terms of 'us' and 'them' there is something seriously wrong.

Originally posted by cynical lady: Lily- the value of woman in Africa or conflict areas is close to nothing at times it’s the police/military that inflect such pain let alone be concern about it…. woman have always been paying the price of war/conflict but what I don’t understand is what turns a man into cold blooded savage when confronted with war/poverty? Well, this is where the weakness of man made laws come in. If the only thing that is stopping you from being a savage is the possibility of jail sentence, there is not much hope for you.

This is really sad. Where is the police that shoots demostrators for fun?

One more day till Friday, please God make it speedy

Aaliyah, . You know, to each his own. For many people it's not even about the money, but the stress, the emotional energy and time that it consumes and ending up with something that usually is not what you had in mind but a combination of your sister/aunt/mum & her friends vision of what your day should be like. If it can't be something measured and uniquely yours, it's best left undone. Better yet, escape or how you like to call it 'i xareyso'. p.s. Having a wedding is just publically declaring 'wala i xareysanooya' (does that sound dirty or is it just me?) .

Lol Dahia, I know 2 words in Swahili, I'm not certain if they are naughty words though! Well, I just thought you guys may be discussing the secrets to eternal youth or how to get a great table at some fab restaurant.

Hey I never said a romantic propsal was a bad thing, don't twist my words! I just find it very hard to take a man who is on bended knee very seriously. It's not manly, he is only doing what others before him have done. If I am correct, Mr Darcy was standing next to her. LoL@speak for yourself. Some of the things Um Z mentioned were a bit cliche though. The bended knee, restuarnt thing on Valentines days is very much puke inducing. What this highlights Adam is that everyone has preferences and if you are ready to ask someone to marry you then you should know their preferences.

Can we stop this foreign language please, I feel so left out! start your own Sijuui thread.

I say give them the four weeks, it’s not like their life will get any easier. If someone makes a mistake, you help them through it, you don’t say it’s your own fault I will punish you more. These girls will do better with the time off than sitting in class spaced out. A few weeks to get your sh*t together wouldn’t harm anyone. Naden, it wasn’t unusual to marry kids all over the world during that period. Marriage laws have always reflected public knowledge and opinion, only a few decades ago Gay marriages were unthinkable, and not long before that it was a punishable crime and now they are allowed. During Elizabethan England, it was legal for boys to marry at 14 and girls at 12. You can’t hold a crime against a person when it was not called a crime in their lifetime. Nowadays, it would be hard to get away with marrying a 9 year old even in the most religious and conservative nations, where it would be at the very least frowned upon, if it wasn’t damn right illegal. Of course, this is not to say that child-marriages do not exist in ignorant, remote societies. LoL@Cara, you are what my aunt calls 'ivalad' a Somali version of the word evil. p.s Nephy, Wa maxay the weird looking woman in your post (hope it's not you, it's a weird pose). I really enjoyed looking at one particular man in your signature, before you blinded us with some sobbing woman that is. I mean, I did feel bad momentarily, but for the love of God, bring back the boys!

Motorcycle Around Africa...not that the public would be allowed to participate, but I envied those guys who did it, especially when they rode down Cape Town, Allahu Akbar! The beauty of it all. I'm going to buy the DVD.
-
Cigarettes ,I cannot stand cigarettes. I will never be able to see beyond the cancer smell, no matter how amazing he is in all other areas.
-
^^ LoL, worked out fine Nephy . I find the whole on bended knee business ridicules and demeaning. Val, couldn't agree more, but he did state the obvious a bit, was he on bended knee? Can't remember! Khalaf, what you described was the process that takes place from the moment two people intend to marry each other. What the poster asked was, how you would propose to the girl. Or basically, are you saying by you doing all these things she should assume that's the way things are going? Adam what a nosy question. I think it's been asked before if someone can be bothered to dig it up.

Why would any of you go to such events? Wouln't you be, well... scared?
