@Alpha Blondy said: agreed. balse you can't reconfigure the country to benefit your folks. Somalilanders are too politicised and tribalistic to allow any clan gain such advantages. Every makhaayad in the land which is basically a political/tribal debating society would go into a meltdown if "my folks" made such an attempt.

It is a fact that regardless of who is the president or which party runs Somaliland, we will always be in a political mess as long as there is no separation of power and clear lines drawn between the different branches of the political establishment; especially between the security forces, the judiciary, and the executive.

Waaryaa warlord Alpha, I see you have some plans to set up your own checkpoint somewhere between Berbera and Hargeisa to empty people's pockets if Somaliland returns back to the days of dayday.

@Alpha Blondy said: abti, we're just enjoying our jeudi soir at Al's Residential Estate, here in the nation's capital, and we're having an excellent discussion on the ''institutional qaloocs'' in SL. my friend is saying '' the person who's really mean to you.....is really fond of you'' . ma ruunba? A civilised discussion about political/institutional qaloocism in AL's compound is a sign of open-mindedness indeed. I don't know about the veracity of the statement I highlighted, but there is another universally held believe that those who are the biggest haters of qaloocism are almost always themselves closeted qaloocites.

Saffrezeey can you do this, I know Alpha can't even think about it:

^ She clearly has no respect for the poor Somali men as she didn't bother to even name her former faarax. Maybe the Somali men deserve to be treated with such contempt as they usually forsake their marital responsibilities.

President Silaanyo is suffering from a fast deteriorating dementia and has basically lost control of the government. In such a terrible circumstances like this, it is the responsibility of the governing party and the national parliament to relieve the leader of his duties and make sure a smooth transition of power takes place. At the moment Xisi Gaab is the acting president in all but name. This is a gross violation of our constitution and is very damaging for our young democracy. It is in the constitution that when the president looses the capacity to lead the nation, the vice president who unlike dictator Xirsi Gaab is elected by the people and has a legitimate mandate should take control of the government. It is imperative that the parliament demand a full assessment of the president's health and if it is found that the president is not in a position to lead the nation, the presidential power should be transferred to vice president Saylici until the next election.

Yes I like the mobile version but I use my laptop most of the time, especially when eating meals. They should not have mixed the forum with the front page. It is so unnecessary.

This upgrade of SOL was a disaster. It feels so different and is more troublesome.

http://www.hiiraan.com/news4/2013/Dec/52654/somalia_bans_christmas_celebrations.aspx It seems like Christmas is very high on the priority list for government in Mogadishu. I think the Somalia government should respect the religious/shopping festival of our Christian Somali brothers and sisters. Religious tolerance should start form the leadership.

Breaking Somalia into two is not the answer for a better future . You are comparing apples and oranges indeed;) The difference between South Sudan and Eritrea on one hand and Somaliland on the other is that unlike those two failed new states Somaliland is already a lot more democratic, peaceful, stable, and prosperous than many long established and recognised counties. The Africa democracy map proves my point.

This is a sad state of affair. I keep hearing a growing sense of frustrations and resentment against this government from across Somaliland. Although the KULMIYE government drastically reduced the corruption, mismanagement, and incompetence it inherited form the previous UDUB government, it created a lot of division in society and as a result tribalism is rearing its ugly hear again. This president is yet to deliver most of the promises he made to the electorate. He cannot transform Somaliland economically overnight or deliver us the international recognition we need but what is in his power and is not that difficult to deliver is institutional and constitutional reforms especially in the areas of law & order, justice, parliamentary duties, elections, policing, separation of power, delegating more responsibilities to the provinces and local communities, rules and regulations for national political parties, the continuity in government departments after each and every change of government, and registration of all the citizens of the country in a national database to make the provision of services easier. If he manages to deliver just some of these much needed reforms he would leave office with a good record and reputation and make our country's foundations a lot stronger.

The kaafirs of Quraish have labeled the dear prophet everything the brothers here have thrown at me . We haven't stoned you yet as the kaafirs of Quraish did to our dear prophet(scw) I like that toy, it is very cute:)

Dadka in la isku qasbo ma' ahan. There are more d&m in jubba and Gedo than shabeelaha. how about Cumar c/rashiid Sharmaarke who is from puntland is one of the leading founders of Jubba. Maxaa ii diidaya aniga shabeelaha hoose since my cousins live there. The HAGs don't respect the smaller clans. I think the water-maals should join forces with the D & M and Baydhabo folks to form a federal state and keep the HAG at bay. -
It depends on the location. In the wider world outside of the Horn of Africa my qabiil is Somali. In the Somali peninsula outside of Somaliland I am duriyad. In Somaliland I am a sub-clan and can't stand the other habar. And finally in my village that other family is the enemy:o
