  1. I've always wondered if one could be an immunologists and Muslim at the same time, how are we going tackle issues like cholera in Somalia if so many refuse to acknowledge natural selection and evolution?
  2. I've always found it strange that these rappers incorporate skylines into their music videos, yet the anti professional lifestyle they glamorize will never produce any future architects or engineers in their communities.

  4. sharma-arke451;848077 wrote: stuff and non sense. Islam is the only state religion in somalia. This does not mean a non muslim cannot live in somalia. However, a ''muslim'' who denounces his/her religion, will be killed, for riddah. Hope this is clear. Haha. Barely three posts in and there are already calls for blood. When is your segment of the community going to focus on something that doesn't involve maiming or killing others?
  5. It's great to see a physicist who lived long enough to see the experimental proof of his life's work. He'll likely win the Nobel Prize for physics this year.
  6. The atheist kind, I would define my Islamic faith is being minimal. I still hold some socially conservative views that my Islamic upbringing has instilled in me. @Wyre, I'll post wherever I choose to.
  7. wyre;847749 wrote: Too Much Athiests Or Is It All In One I was actually shocked when I realized I wasn't alone. We're everywhere, I don't even have many Somali friends and I know a half dozen or so. These are full fledged atheists by the way, not the drinking, clubbing type who still call themselves Muslims.

Let's be realistic here. Also, super malls and cookie cutter suburban development are a backwards way of planning cities. Why are these people emulating 1950's America?
  9. How can there be any sincerity in faith, if someone essentially points a gun to your head and forces you to follow their interpenetration of Islam? This just goes to show you the priorities of these self declared leaders, water scarcity is the largest issue in Mali, but engineering the personal thoughts of others seems to be their only agenda at this point.
  10. 200,000?! The only source for that number is either that Somali professor from Calgary or someone from the Canadian Somali congress (I can't remember which). I'd say we are at 60-70,000 at most in Canada (the census puts us slightly below that). I doubt we make up 1/3 of the black population.

I would say both the Mamul SL and the TFG somali government should get to the bottom of this and find out everyone that is involved in both sides. This is disgusting. It happens in Muslim countries all around the world, especially in countries with high poverty rates, Indonesia is notorious for it's child abuse cases and prostitution (check out Ahmed Suradji) . I don't think there's a country in the world that has as many vulnerable children as Somalia.
  12. Timur;846420 wrote: Do you know what oil billionaire means? It means the people who provide logistics, catering, and other services. Are you saying that the first man in Bari to establish an oil trucking franchise doesn't deserve his wealth? What do you mean you don't understand how anyone deserves to get rich off Somali oil? If Somalis shouldn't get rich off the oil, then who should? I'm referring to the sale of the oil itself , not the industries that many great entrepreneurs will build around it. The money from production should be used for infrastructure projects only, that way the facilities required for any Somali to excel will be intact. The billionaires most commonly seen in the Gulf countries most often consist of members of the monarchy and aren't self made. Rather than defining what role their natural resources plays in their economy like Iran does, they let their oil define them. They play no role in the manufacturing of equipment used to extract their oil, the engineering involved in producing their oil, or in the research and development of more efficient usage of it. They are truly slaves of their own fortunes.
  13. We have an abundance of bullets in our country, I'm sure they can be put to good use in this case.
  14. Billionaires from what? I don't understand how anyone deserves to become rich off of Somali oil. I'd rather live as an average Iranian or Malaysian rather than a rich Qatari, you can't buy the feeling of knowing your country will still exist when your oil fields are depleted.

  16. NGONGE;846275 wrote: ^^ How about abortion? Can a parent decide to aborn their child? I personally believe that abortion should be limited to cases of medical emergencies, rape and incest. Adoption should be the only other option outside these cases. To me, there is something wrong with the fact that the killing of a pregnant woman is double homicide while abortion is perfectly legal.
  17. GaroweGal;846189 wrote: ^Is this guy Okay? Let him decide are you serious? There is nothing to decide about its part of the Sunnah. Soon breastfeeding will be banned because it causes sore nipples, Go Figure! What does Sunnah have to do with Germany? Also, breastfeeding is not comparable to circumcision, it is usually initiated by an adult woman and sore nipples are a temporary effect.
  18. The-freeman;846152 wrote: Good news! Religious freedom does not mean the right to injure an innocent child who cannot give consent. I'm a bit torn on this decision, part of me thinks it's strange that the law allows you to make a cosmetic changes to a child's body, but it's a simple enough procedure that it won't be much of a problem. I wonder if you're allowed to perform liposuction or rhinoplasty on infants? Would that be considered harmful? This is in Europe though, the only western countries where circumcisions are prevalent are Canada, the U.S and Australia.
  19. I think it goes without saying that the fighters of any militia in the world could hardly be described as being cowards, but the leaders usually are. We should organize an art project in the future for the victims of this conflict, funding wouldn't be an issue as the only requirements are a sedated Al-Shabaab commander, a pair of scissors, a blowtorch and a Styrofoam cup.
  20. There was another Somali killed last week in Toronto, I think that's 2 in the last month.
  21. Why doesn't he focus on establishing an Islamic emirate of Somaliland first?
  22. I never understood why leaders in Somalia are all dusty old relics with nothing to offer. We have one of the youngest populations in the world, yet we allow men several generations removed run us in to the ground. It's time we put an age limit on political leaders in Somalia, I would set it at 30.
  23. Oil refinery costs are in the multi billion range, some even in double digits. Puntland should instead focus on other infrastructure projects, so the other sectors of the economy can pick up, unless you want to become one hit wonders like Yemen or Nigeria. The last thing Somalis should do be doing is looking at the emirates/Saudi Arabia as an example that should be followed. Iran is the only oil rich country in the region that barring a war will still have a dominant economy in the next few decades.
  24. How would anyone be able to read anything on that LCD TV? A projector would've been around the same price without the downside of being utterly useless.
