  1. So what are you guys gonna do CidanSultan and Tallaabo? Just sit on an internet forum while trading insults against Koonfurians? What have you done for your clan enclave in Hargeisa? What are you doing to improve the welfare of the people living in Waqooyi? All you guys know how to do is wave the Somaliland Flag while trading insults against Koonfurians, authubilah get yourselves together. The misfortunes of the people of Koonfuria, could just as easily happen to the people of Somaliland, if Allah so willed. So I sincerely advise you to drop your arrogant attitude and instead work towards improving your own societies before you attempt to lecture our Koonfurian brothers. Allah will ask you on Yawmul Qiyaama what have you done? What have you done for the Ummah, for the people of Somalia? Allah will not ask you what the Tribal Leader of HAG has done, or what the Prime Minister of Somalia has done, but Allah will ask you WHAT DID YOU DO? Never forget that
  2. <cite> @Tallaabo said:</cite> Heterosexuality and homosexuality are just different sides of the same coin. So if you can't give up sex permanently, don't expect others to be able to do that. Tallaabo, if a man finds his best friend's wife attractive, should he have the right to court her? Answer the question Do you believe in self-restraint or not? And yes, I do believe those who truly have homosexual urges should exercise self-restraint and remain celibate. I have nothing but the utmost respect for those people. And everyone of us has their own unique challenges. This is theirs.
  3. Why don't we act like a civilized adult and control ourselves and our urges? We all have different types of urges. Some people have the urge to steal something expensive, some have the urge to drink alcohol, some have the urge to cheat on their wife, or to lie. But doing these actions doesn't make it acceptable. It doesn't mean it's okay. We're humans, not animals. And one aspect of being a human is self-restraint, and not going out and doing whatever you please. Because if you behave like that, then you're no better than an animal. Even Western societies urge self-restraint when it comes to drinking alcohol excessively, or smoking drugs, or cheating on your spouse, or stealing. But people hypocritically turn the other way when it comes to homosexuality. It doesn't make any sense. Self restraint is key here. I don't have a problem with gay people, but I DO have a problem with people who commit homosexual actions. Everyone one of us is unique, and we all have unique challenges which we must overcome. And yes, there are some people who have homosexual urges. But to accept homosexual ACTIONS as "normal" or as "acceptable" is self-betrayal, because you're going against your innate human disposition. The same way how there are some people who have the "urge" to commit suicide, but doing so doesn't make the action okay at all.
  4. It must take some severe double standards for Tallaabo to condemn alcoholism, incest, pathological lying and other such disorders....but then turn around and accept homosexuality. In fact, all of those disorders are as "uncontrollable" as homosexuality is. But according to Tallaabo, one of them is okay but not the others. I wonder how he reached this conclusion? Since science is always changing, I suppose Tallaabo is gonna change his opinion in 50 years when the scientists start embracing incest or some other disorder.
  5. OMG Tell me this Tallaabo, why is incest considered to be a mental disorder but not homosexuality? I don't hate gay people at all. I just view them as people who engage in a sin which should be considered abhorrent and repulsive by all rational and logical individuals. I don't place people in a box and attempt to categorize them. The same way how I hate alcoholism (which is a disease)....but it doesn't mean I hate alcoholics.
  6. <cite> @Tallaabo said:</cite> That is a twisted logic which is very typical of the ignorant Muslim masses. And explain to me what is so twisted about it? The rationale behind being "pro-gay" is, "Hey as long as they're not hurting anyone, then we should be fine with it." Well then, I can extend that rationale to accept incest as well, so why is one of them okay but not the other?
  7. I wonder when we're going to have the first "Pro-Incest" mosque opening up. After all, using their logic, shouldn't a man who is attracted to his own sister or mother also be given recognition and respect?
  8. 20 Americans soldiers die by suicide EVERY SINGLE DAY in America! That's like 7200 deaths every year, more than the combined US Deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's an epidemic
  9. <cite> @Mahiigaan said:</cite> The world economy is about population and professional work force. Somalia's population is estimated aproximately 10 million people, while its neighbor (Ethiopia) is over 90 million!. International companies will prefer to invest in countries with larger populations and potentional resources. If our resources are extracted, unity will be a plus, but unfortunately I lost hope of Somalis ever exercising good managerial skills. Nigeria and Angola are good examples of Africans with endowment of natural resources but their people live under $2 a day. No clean water, elecetricity, decent health facilities etc. There is no doubt Somalis will be the same or even worst. Look how fake small oil companies are given to vast expanses of our land with any transparency what so ever. Skinnies are a bunch of greedy people with no integrity and pride!. Their only moto is loot as much as you can under the protection of your qabil and leave the carcases for the 'dadka cagaha cad'. I understand your sentiment saaxib, but I know for a fact that the deep divisions which exist in Nigeria/Somalia are what helps fuel this corruption and blatant cronyism. Nigeria has multiple ethnic groups sharing one nation, and their hatred and animosity towards each other goes back generations. In that type of environment, politicians ALWAYS play the identity card to get elected, instead of proving their credentials and having good policies, "Leaders" are often elected by the dominant tribe in the country. And that just fuels corruption, which leads to poor economic growth. Look at Botswana saaxib. Botswana has ONE major ethnic group (and a small minority of other ethnic groups) but the "Tswana" people who live in Botswana dominate the country. It's a fairly homogeneous country, and they have diamonds as natural resources instead of oil. Botswana has a per-capita income of about $16,000 a year, which is equal to about Mexico or Turkey. And 40 years ago, Botswana was literally the POOREST country in the world, and now it's the richest nation in Africa, with a fairly high standard of living. Sure they may have some problems (some poverty, high AIDS rate), but the country of Botswana proved that Africans can accomplish a lot as long as they are given the opportunity to do so. Botswana has a free business environment, strong property rights, and adequate public investment. They need the right economic policies, policies created by intelligent politicians and policymakers. If Somalia lets go of Qabiil, then the ONLY way a Politician could get elected is through his credentials and not through his powerful sub-clan. Abdiweli got elected in Puntland because of his credentials, and Puntland is fairly homogeneous compared to the rest of Somalia (one dominant clan-group), so this gave them the opportunity to elect the best man for the job, instead of "the best clan for the job"....if you know what I mean.
  10. Safferz, I'm using Burahadeer's words against him. Sure, Somalis 4 decades ago were patriotic and had a deep affinity with their Somaalinimo, but there was also a massive cultural influence in our lands as well. The Italians and Russians had a huge influence in our country. And that's what I was pointing out. Somalia sits on the crossroads between Europe, Asia and the Middle East. So it's not a surprise that I'm pointing out that Somalia has ALWAYS been influenced by foreign cultures--the good and the bad--for centuries. So for Burahadeer to single out Arab influences to the exclusion of European or Indian influences is the height of self-contradiction. I don't get uncomfortable if I see a Somali adopting some European practices or Indian practices or Arab practices, so I'm being consistent here. Others are not. Someone on this thread earlier pointed out that "Somali culture predates Islam"....but yet if he were to return to the year 500, and he encountered the ancient Somalis, not only would he be hardly able to understand their language, but he wouldn't even understand their cultural practices either. It's always evolving, it's always changing over the years. The English people of 1366 are nothing like the English people of 2014. And so on and so on.
  11. Shots fired! Shots fired!! :D Let's get the party started niiyow! LOL This is something out of a TV Drama, it's kind of like that political drama "House of Cards" (which I recommend everyone here to watch) My prediction is that Yuulka will outplay Qoslaye because he's smarter than him and has more political clout than he does.
  12. LOOL Qoslaye is a little angry that he appointed Yuulka in the first place Qoslaye had no idea that Yuulka is a lot smarter and more cunning than Shirdon ever was :D
  13. You didn't even counter my points. Burahadeer, if you want to sit in a cafe while speaking in a French accent, and wearing German-style clothing, while sipping on Italian wine, then by all means I'm not stopping you. Just don't complain about "Somali culture balaayo" when you see a Somali man in a Khamiis and an Imamaad. Because using your own standards, you're no better then he is.
  14. People like Burahadeer weren't complaining about "The Death of Somali culture" in the 1970's...... When Somalis had an Atheist Marxist Regime governing our country. When our youth were speaking Italian better than they even knew Af-Somaali. When Siyaad Barre was killing thousands of nomads in Bari. When our dress, customs, and food were being influenced by Europeans. When we adopted a Latin Alphabet instead of our own unique Somali alphabet. When Somali youth were being sent to Italy or Russia and adopting their cultural practices. But when they see a Somali 20 year old kid merely wearing a khamiis, they start crying and complaining about "The Death of Somali culture". We all know what their real intentions are. Don't buy their fake outrage for a second. They don't give a sh** about Somali culture. Their hypocrisy is unbelievable. It's almost unreal
  15. <cite> @burahadeer said:</cite> Only a twisted logic can put forth such a statement and specially when he's the one advocating Arab culture round the clock. You better ask that urslf. You were the one fighting so hard that Arab script be introduced when we already had established latin alphabet and more ova lashed out at every one else to the point of madness. I suggest you read that thread again. Nowhere did I "fight so hard" to replace the Somali alphabet with an Arabic script. I just said it's an option worthy of consideration. That it might be a good idea. But again, you're putting words in my mouth. I never in my life advocated Arabic culture on this forum. Again you're putting words in my mouth. You're the one that's advocating Somalis imitate Europeans, and then you disgracefully justify it by saying "Oh it's because the Europeans are so technologically advanced" Authubilah, get yourself together. According to your twisted logic, maybe we should adopt Ancient Persian customs, or Ancient Chinese customs, or Ancient Indian customs because they were all VERY advanced and very productive at one point in time.
  16. Authubilaah, Burahadeer.... So you're telling me because the Russians are white people, and therefore being white means you have a "higher intellect", so therefore we Somalis should strive to adopt White European customs, dress, food, music, and behavior? Is that what you're trying to tell me? And then you turn around and complain about Somali culture being "annihilated" when you see a few Somalis wearing khamiises? Stop the game warya, you don't give a damn about Somali culture. You just wanna use that as a charade, so you can bash all Somalis who dress in a way which you dislike. But you're hypocritically substituting one form of colonialism in favor of another form of colonialism. I'm not the hypocrite here, you are. I don't mind if you wear a suit-and-tie. I myself wear a suit-and-tie sometimes, as well as a Khamiis sometimes, or a macawiis sometimes. It's up to you. Somalis have had HEAVY cultural influences from Arabs, Italians, Indians, Brits, and other foreign cultures and yet you wanna complain if a few Somalis wear a khamiis. Get your priorities straight.
  17. Burahadeer, you know what! I like your idea! The Russians of the 20th century also had many great scientists and engineers! Maybe we should adopt State Communism and Marxism as an ideology, you know....since the Russians invented so much stuff, the least we could do is adopt their twisted and broken ideology! What do you say?!? Your Secessionist State Army uses Kalashnikov rifles, which was invented by a Communist Russian in the 1940's, so in order to show your gratitude to him, you should turn Somaliland into a Communist State. It's only fair, right? See how that works out for you
  18. <cite> @Tillamook said:</cite> I would have called Culusow's first two years in office a success if he had managed to dismantle Jubaland and instead of President Axmad Islam he had a Barre or Baasto running things in Kismaayo. I would have called him a success if Madoobe Nuunow and his 6 state adminstration were running the shots in Baidoa. I would still give him kudos if Qeybdiid could get off the ground the recently announced abortion named the Central State of Somalia. But since none of these thing have happened and Culusow's political plans are all in shambles-- then we can safely assume and without any regrets call this fool of a president out for what he truly is... A sheer utter failure of infinite proportions! :D I laughed my as* off
  19. Khadafi, I have no problem with men wearing Khamiises or wearing suits-and-ties or even wearing Indian-style Sherwani dresses to Somali weddings. It really is up to you. But people like Bashir Goth complain about "the annihilation of Somali culture" when they see Somalis wearing a Khamiis, but they have no complaints when they see Somalis wearing a suit-and-tie (which has nothing to do with Somali culture) or an Indian Sherwani. It's very hypocritical of them. I'm very vigilant against Takfeeri extremists, and I've spoken out against them numerous times on this forum saaxib. Extremism on both sides is reprehensible. But Bashir Goth is very extreme in his views, and he's a staunch secularist and this is very clear in his writings. He even argued that Islam is the cause of much of the ills which plague Somalia. And that is a blatant lie which he should not be allowed to get away with. Very poor scholarship on his part. He's nothing more than a freelance author, a regular guy just like you and me, who feels as if he is the "Guardian of Somalia" and he wants to super-impose his twisted viewpoints onto the rest of us.
  20. <cite> @ElPunto said:</cite> ^If Somali pastoralist culture contains many things that are contrary to Islam - these should be discarded rather than labelled or mislabelled. I'm not sure you have your priorities sorted out there. Goth is championing white wedding dresses, western suits and mixed dancing - this is not Somali culture. This is the mental colonialism that was talked about. It isn't any better than Somalis who would dress up in shalwar khameez and do Bollywood dances. Oddly enough - the only Somalis who loudly proclaim they are preserving Somali culture are the ones who hold these western style weddings. Just give it a rest. It's really funny when you see people like Bashir Goth criticize the Khamiis and claim it has nothing to do with Somali culture (which I agree with), but yet they wear a suit-and-tie (which originated in Europe). Bashir Goth doesn't even see his own hypocrisy here. All they're doing is substituting one type of "colonialism" with another type of "colonialism".
  21. Che, you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Bashir Goth is attempting to remodel Somali society as well as Somali politics into HIS image of what it should look like. And his ideal image of Somalia would be something resembling a Western-style society which contains some trace elements of nomad and pastoralist lifestyle. This hypocrite "Bashir Goth" sees nothing wrong with that. He sees nothing wrong with Somalis imitating the Brits or the French, but for some reason it's all "evil" and "bad" for a Somali to wear a khamiis, even though I acknowledge that a Khamiis is just a cultural attire, and it really has nothing to do with our religion. But wearing a suit-and-tie has nothing to do with Somali culture either, yet Bashir Goth has NO PROBLEM with Somali men wearing suits-and-ties in cultural events and wedding ceremonies. His hypocrisy is unbelievable. And Bashir Goth is picking and choosing which parts of foreign culture Somalis should accept and incorporate into our own culture. For him, anything that is Islam=Bad. And anything that is Western=Good. Bashir Goth even attempted to blame Islam for many of the social ills which plague our country. Even though he's too hard-headed to understand that Islam is part of the SOLUTION, not the problem, to helping us overcome our social challenges. But in Bashir Goth's twisted mind, his "solution" is to have Somalis imitate the British or the French or the Italians. He's an intellectual sell-out. Over and over again, he attempts to champion Western culture and tries to even sell it to Somalis. If you guys really cared about the preservation of Somali culture, then you should call him out for what he is. Substituting one type of colonialism with another type is not how we should be behaving. We're Somalis, behave like a Somali. Read his articles saaxib. He's not what you think he is. There is no doubt Somali society has some serious problems, and I totally agree with you that we are Somalis and we shouldn't imitate the Arabs in their mannerisms and dress, but there's a limit. Especially when the person who's writing the article---Bashir Goth---is well-known for attempting to re-model Somalia into a "Western-style" society.
  22. Good for him mashaAllah. This is very good news and may Allah keep him on the straight path.
  23. <cite> @Che -Guevara said:</cite> How is he colonialist loving? Bashir Goth frames his articles as well as his arguments through a Western/European paradigm. His arguments are not well-thought out and he's a staunch secularist who has an extremely defeatist mentality especially when it comes to Islam. Bro, I could go on and on. Read his articles saaxib Bashir Goth is not someone to be taken seriously
