Zidane is my choice, at least he won La Liga, went to CL Semi (he should taken that pen against Juve, not Figo, the outcome would have been different), may not score as many as henry and Shevcenko, but when he does score they are special! Arsenal have a good team, not a squad, they also have the highest number of converts in recent years. Maybe 7 out 10 of every Arsenal fan i come across supported a different team a few years ago. Including teams like Newcastle,Leeds, Spurs, etc, r u one of those Bay???????

By Danielle Demetriou 27 November 2003 Benjamin Zephaniah, the acclaimed poet, has refused his appointment as an OBE from the Queen, describing it as a legacy of colonialism. The Rastafarian poet declined the award because of his opposition to the policies and principles of the Government and the monarchy. In doing so, he joined the ranks of a select group, including the actress Helen Mirren and the film director Ken Loach. But Mr Zephaniah chose to publicise his decision in a newspaper article, published in today's Guardian. Describing his reaction to the unexpected arrival of a letter from the House of Commons earlier this month, he wrote: "Me? I thought, OBE me? Up yours, I thought. I get angry when I hear the word 'empire'; it reminds me of slavery, it reminds me of thousands of years of brutality, it reminds me of how my foremothers were raped and my forefathers brutalised." He added: "My obsession is about the future and the political rights of all people. Benjamin Zephaniah OBE - no way Mr Blair, no way Mrs Queen. I am profoundly anti-Empire." Mr Zephaniah highlighted the incongruity of his invitation by referring to his previous visits to Downing Street, which were been limited to protests on the doorstep of the Prime Minister. He went on to challenge Mr Blair to meet him to discuss the death of his cousin Michael Powell at Thornhill Road police station in Birmingham. "All that my family can do is join with all the other families who have lost members while in custody because no one in power is listening to them. Come on Mr Blair, I'll meet you anytime. Let's talk 'bout your Home Office, let's talk about being tough on crime." One significant reason behind the poet's decision to refuse the accolade was his opposition to government policies. He said: "You can't fool me, Mr Blair, You want to privatise us all; you want to send us to war; you stay silent when we need you to speak for us; preferring to be the voice of the USA." However, Mr Zephaniah also criticised fellow artists who he claimed succumbed to their ego and subsequently compromised their artistic integrity by accepting the honours. "There are many black writers who love OBEs, it makes them feel like they have made it ... They are so easily seduced into the great house of Babylon known as the Palace." His words were echoed in a poem, "Bought and Sold", which accompanied his article, the first lines of which were: "Smart big awards and prize money/Is killing off black poetry." BIG UP!

By Charles Arthur Technology Editor 26 November 2003 Look out of the window and the problem might not be obvious, but Britain faces a drought. The Environment Agency warned yesterday that serious water shortages were on the way next year unless one-fifth more rain than usual falls in the next four months. People were advised to begin replacing worn tap washers, using less water in kettles and saucepans, choosing half-loads for washing machines and dishwashers, and washing vegetables in a bowl rather than under a tap. Seven water companies have taking measures to ensure supplies to customers because the recent wet weather has not replenished rivers and reservoirs, which stand at about half the level they would normally be at this time of year. Rainfall has been about two-thirds of the long-term average since January. A spokesman for Water UK, which represents the private water utilities in England and Wales, and the water companies in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: "There weren't any hosepipe bans this year, but potentially if it doesn't rain enough we would be looking at restrictions in the New Year." Britons use 15 billion litres of water per day, but water companies have had to share heavily among each other this year, with the hottest day on record adding to demand. Barbara Young, the agency's chief executive, said: "Although supplies are secure for the coming winter, unless we receive higher than average rainfall between now and March we could be faced with water restrictions and serious water shortages in 2004." The period since February has been the second-driest in England and Wales since 1921, and the driest since 1959. The worst hit region is the South-east, where over the past three months some parts have seen as little as 30 per cent of the average rainfall, leaving rivers flowing at only 20 per cent of normal for the time of year. Thames Water has been given two "drought permits" which let it take more water than usual from the Thames and from groundwater sources. Ms Young said: "If the entire adult population of England and Wales turned the tap off while brushing their teeth, it could save up to 180 million litres per day - that's enough to supply nearly 500,000 households on a daily basis." This makes me sick!!!!

The whole idea of the west is to rid all religious ppl of their beliefs, whether they Muslims, Christians or Jews. By making it law to seperate the state and religion, this will help in the end objective. Are they going to make it illegal to have a Rasta hair style, or to wear the jewish cap, dont think so. These sick countries are aiming to rid it self of the hijaab because of the simple reason of aesthetics. Look around any major city now and there plenty of hijabified muslimahs (mashallah) resulting in the their own kids becoming more curious about the religion and hence increasing the chances of them actually reverting. So decreasing this will again aid their objective. France is in the middle of developing a French islam, where the idea is to integrate the french way of living with that of islam. Also aiming to have some sort of system where they tell the imams in the mosques of what subjects to talk about during jumca prayers. Crazy init? Shuji says "Lets be honest who wants to intergrate?? well not me. I dont want to continue to work along side, Homo's, and these Kafirs. I dont want to pay all these taxes and still live as a second class citizen." My sentiments exactly, the govnt are already in the process of decreasing our numbers. one way to do this is to make it very difficult to live here unless we greatly compromise our religion. The old adage of dont be rude and tell them to get out of yr house but just show them the door comes to mind. gr8 post!!!!!!

Di Canio: I’m no cheat Paolo Di Canio was furious after Charlton’s 1-1 draw with Leicester over the weekend following accusations of cheating. "I am not angry because they called me a cheat," said the Italian ace. "It has happened to me many times. I am angry because I should have had two penalties. I was taken down earlier on and the referee did nothing." loooool, thats just made my day! Pires backs Golden Shev Arsenal’s Robert Pires claims that Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko should win the European Footballer of the Year award. "Thierry Henry doesn’t deserve the trophy," said the midfielder. "Shevchenko deserves the award because you have to win a major trophy and Milan did that last season." Its a difficult one to call, winning a major trophy and not really exploding in the season, and not winning anything but performing week in week out. Play well and not win a thing, play average and win the CL.mmmmmmm

Dont know if any yous saw the documentary on Camp Delta but it was chilling, sad and outright illegal. The programme highlighted the innocence of many who did not take part in combat, like taxi drivers who were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Toture methods were touched upon, mental illness of many detainees, injections to make them talk. Anyway just an article to highlight a judge who has spoken out. Enjoy http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/legal/story.jsp?story=467290

Modesty, with all due respect, i think you have misinterpreted my point. My point being that we dont even know any RECOGNISED Imams on the world stage. No doubt we know of Imams and their work, but without a recognised Islamic body that represents ALL muslims worldwide, then we will not get anywhere. In your home town, do the asians work with the arabs? do the masjids promote unity with other mosques within yr city? at your local masjid do you hear about events held at others masjids? if so this will probably be limited. My point is if there is no confidence and guidance between us, then where are we heading?
