Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse could be out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken leg in Saturday's match against Blackburn. The injury was confirmed after the £14m France international was taken to hospital following a tangle with Blackburn defender Jay McEveley. Cisse had surgery on Sunday to pin his tibia back together after his shin was broken in two places. "He is unlikely to play again this season," a Liverpool spokesman said. Liverpool's Milan Baros and Jamie Carragher sustained broken legs in the league fixture at Blackburn last year. And Carragher admitted the team were all shocked when they found out the extent of Cisse's injury. "We were all sick when we heard what had happened," said the defender. "We can only extend our best wishes to Djibril and hope he recovers quickly."
