  1. Originally posted by TheSomaliEconomist: To the gentlemen, Northerner, Dhubad & Kashafa Firstly, please quit the "your-crying-for-amxaaros" talk, it's just a pathetic and childish attempt to steer off from the rational topics and cases that we are discussing in this thread. Since you gentlemen seem unaware of what these discussions could possibly be, let me clarify that it's revolving about the current burning of dead bodies (as it appears from the threads name). Now, having made this clear, I once again encourage you to explain how an islamic jihadist movement that you obviously support could justify the exercise of such barbaric actions as the burning of dead bodies? Please answer and discuss this question without retorting with ad hominem attacks or other semantic gymnastics. Also I would like to adress to Mr Northerner , who accused me of supporting the killing of muslims through the support of TFG and their allies. Mr Northerner, I believe that our definition of genocide against muslims are diametrically different. I don't see a national governmental entity pacifying it's nation from warmongers, anarchists and regional clan organizations disguised as an Islamic movement, as "killers of muslims". I suppose that you are referring to the death of ICU soldiers and their remnants. There's not much to say on the case of the civilians that were killed in the crossfire or in the counter-attacks from the government and their allies either. The causes of their death was mainly that they were letting the insurgents fire mortars from their homes or use them as a base, something that caused the uprising of "Madanis". I would also like to ask you Mr Northerner, if you've heard of or seen any jirdil of the captured ICU soldiers particularly on behalf of the Ethio-troops? Let's look at what Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Madobe said about this treatment after he was captured ny amxaaros wounded in the fields after the US air strikes: "Madobe said he was treated well by his Ethiopian captors, and called on Somalis to work with the government." source: http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L06594617.htm So it seems as even the christian amxaaros can treat wounded muslim soldiers better in war than the muslim mujahids can treat wounded somali muslims, never less their dead bodies. Getting all "islamic" will highlighten my shortcomings you say? Hypocrisy at it's finest I must reply. You didn’t have to go to the trouble. I’ll keep it simple and to the point. 1) Did/do you support gaalo entering Muslim lands, occupying it and killing them? Yes 2) Did the TFG invite gaalo to kill Muslims? Yes 3) Is the burning of bodies wrong? Yes 4) Can you have an opinion on the burnt bodies after questions 1 & 2? NO! Why? Because you supported this gaal. Simple matey,,,,, that goes for all the gaal supporters in here. You know who you are. Therefore, your opinion shall be treated as one ‘baroorin’ for the dead gaal! Hypocrisy! Ps why do you and others condone the firing of heavy artillery on civilian homes with the notion that ‘insurgents are hiding amongst the people’? Where is this justified in Islam? And yes I have seen many posts condoning this including yours above. As for the captured ICU soldiers being treated well, that good but that’s a case of captured prisoners and not dead soldiers (as in this case). You and your friends here are simply disillusioned!
  2. Economist You supported/support the killing of muslims through your support for the Xabashis/TFG. What does that say about you? Getting all 'Islamic' will only highlight your own shortcomings matey,,,,,,, Shall we go there? Northerner, dont focus so much on the "crying/praying" for gaals or whatnot. Focus on the fact that it is so called muslim mujahideens that are burning the bodies of dead people. That's the interesting part here, not the death of the soldiers but the exercise of their killers and their supposed claim of faith. I will leave it for the ALMIGHTY to deal with them (if indeed it was them). After they have dealt with the gaalo first insha Allah.
  3. ^^The ordinary people have now turned against the Gaal Raac Govnt. ps are you going to pray for the dead gaal?
  4. ^^Have stated its wrong saxib. Dont blame me for not showing much emotion for a dead gaal.
  5. If its true its wrong. Never the less can i get takbir?
  6. Where have i reflected ignorance saxib? I simply said the second pic looks fake and there are some Indian/Chinese looking people in the crowd (not the dead people) and no fighters with guns in sight. No ignorance on my side i'm afraid. As for a dead Xabashi, who gives a shizum? I certainly dont!

  10. So its finally landing,,,,,,,i can think of a few nomads who would be easy prey,, Safety concerns for PS3 buyers Sony has pledged to get fans home safely after the official UK launch of its new console. The move follows police concerns about the safety of customers who buy the £425 PlayStation 3 in central London at midnight. Young people could put themselves at risk by travelling in the city centre late at night, the Met Police said. Fans attending Thursday's official PS3 launch at midnight in Virgin Megastores on Oxford Street should ensure they can get home safely, police said. A Sony spokesman said: "Both Sony PlayStation and Virgin Megastores take the safety and comfort of consumers extremely seriously. "We've liaised with both the police and Westminster Council, and put a number of measures in place to ensure that everyone attending the midnight launch gets home safely." Virgin Megastores is inviting fans to queue for the PS3s from noon on Wednesday in the lower ground floor of its Oxford Street store - 36 hours before the consoles go on sale. Entertainment and food will be provided, the chain said. In a statement about the midnight launch, the Metropolitan Police Service said: "Officers have expressed their concern about this planned event, which may well encourage young people to travel into central London late at night, potentially putting themselves at risk of becoming victims of crime." It added: "We would advise young people who plan to attend the event to be accompanied by an adult and to have the means to travel home safely." http://news.uk.msn.com/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=4349119
  11. Quranic basis for the Ideal Social Order 3/20/2007 - Religious Social Education - Article Ref: IC0510-2836 Number of comments: 8 By: Sadullah Khan IslamiCity* - Practical expression of welfare is the fabric of faith The pattern of universal goodwill and welfare is interwoven in every fabric of Islamic doctrine, legislation and practice. With such gravity does Islam view this obligation (of universal welfare) that none can righteously claim inclination to the Divine Universal Way of Life (Islam) without first furnishing practical proof of selfless commitment to this humanitarian ideal... In the words of the Prophet ; "None of you have Faith unless he prefers for others what he prefers for himself. None of you can righteously claim to Believe until and unless you sacrifice for others that which you yourself love most. The highest expression of Faith is... that you love for humanity that which you love for yourself and despise for humanity that which you dislike for yourself". Thus the customary flimsy claim to belief by mere pronouncing of certain formulae or the mere performance of certain rituals does not per se make one a true Believer. Belief is coupled with true commitment to the Divine in every sphere of activity. It is not righteousness that you turn Your faces towards East or West; But it is righteousness - To Believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, For your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of those in bondage; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfill the contracts which you have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain, suffering, adversity and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the People of Truth, the Allah - conscious. Quran 2:177 Fundamental principles of the Ideal Social Order It is not righteousness to ritually turn your face towards East or West; But righteousness is that you believe in: Allah - The Supreme Authority, the Uncaused First Cause who is the Eternal Source and Origin of all existence and in Whom is inherent all manifestations of perfection. And the Last Day - A future time period of accountability where each individual will be held responsible and accountable for his or her worldly deeds. And the Angels - Who are the Divine functionaries of Allah. And the Book - Though we accept all Divine scriptures like the Original Bible, Original Taurah, ... unfortunately (due to interpolation and alterations) none of the scriptures have been preserved in their original pristine form, except the Holy Qur'an, the Book. And all the Prophets - Islam is the only Faith that has it as an article of faith to believe in all the Prophets that were sent to all the various peoples throughout history. In essence, they all brought the same message to different people at different periods. Their message was based on Divine Covenant aimed at establishing the universal, natural, true Way of Life; leading to the implementation of the social system of Goodness and Justice. "We sent our Prophets with clear Guidance and Scriptures, containing the ideal Criterion (and Balance) for the express purpose that humanity may establish justice." (Quran 57:25) And out of the love for Allah, to avail what you possess for the benefit of those dear to you, the orphans, the needy, the wayfarers, those who ask, and for the freeing of those in bondage: After proclaiming inclination to Islam one is required to give practical expression to this inclination by offering whatever abilities, flair, art, comfort, wealth, possession... that one has been entrusted with, for the benefit of humanity. It is with reference to this that the holy Prophet (pbuh) said: "Most certainly, Deen is expressed in man's treatment of fellow human beings." Whatever we possess belongs to Allah; we are only trustees thereof. Whatever we are graced with in this world (whether it be knowledge, wealth, political power...) we are entrusted with these as vicegerents of Allah and we are to be accountable for each aspect of our trusteeship. Such is our responsibility towards the needy, downtrodden and oppressed that the Almighty Himself proclaims: "And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah and the oppressed men, women and children, whose cry is - O our Lord! Save us from this place whose people are oppressors. Raise us from Thee one who will help us, one who will assist us." (Quran 4:75) The true Muslim, committed to the universal welfare presented by Islam, is the one who is duty - bound to rise in assistance of these oppressed, for the true Believer is part of that ideal Global Community (the Ummah) which has been evolved for the benefit of humanity (Quran 3:110). And establish regular Prayer (Salaah): Prayer is the spiritual elevation of the Believer due to the fact that during Salaah the worshipper devotes his entire attention to his Creator without any intermediate, materialistic interference. The objective to be achieved is documented in the Holy Qur'an, "Establish prayer, for most certainly prayer prevents from shameful deeds, indecency, all forms of evil, corruption, exploitation; and the constant awareness of Allah is the greatest of virtues." (Quran 29:45) The concept of prayer is not mere ritual devoid of Divine commitment and social welfare for the holy Prophet (pbuh) intimated that there are those who pray yet achieve nothing by their prayer except tiredness from bowing and prostration. Allah only accepts the prayer of those who are humble and sincere, those who do not exceed the limits, those who meet the needs of the needy and who feed the hungry. Thus the establishing of Salaah is akin to the pursuance of spiritual and moral welfare. And establish Zakaah (prescribed charity): Islam does not presuppose a class system of 'haves' giving meager handouts to the 'have-nots'. In Islam, everything belongs to Allah. Man is only the trustee of what he possesses and whatever is in his possession beyond his basic needs is to be availed to those who need it. The holy Prophet said: "In the possession of those who have lies the right of those who do not have. " So after having provided welfare assistance to the best of your ability, if anything is left in your possession in excess of your basic needs, then Zakaah is still the prescribed obligatory tax on that. The establishing of Zakaah therefore is akin to the pursuance of economic welfare. To fulfill obligations and promises you have made: Indeed Islam is the order wherein it is obligatory to be true in thought, word and deed. Fulfillment of duty, responsibility and commitments is part of that obligation. And to patiently persevere throughout all periods of panic and hardship: All the above conditions have to be included and practically fulfilled for one to be a true Believer. These are those who are truthful, they are the sincerely committed. The requirements that have been laid down in this single verse of the Holy Qur'an (Chapter 2:Verse 177) contain the basic elements for that Ideal Social Order promoted by Islam... the Social Order of Truth, Justice and Goodness. 12. Committee to investigate 'sleazy' show named By Habib Toumi, Bureau Chief Manama: Bahrain's Islamist-dominated lower house yesterday named a seven-member commission to investigate an allegedly "sleazy" cultural show, hours after 54 civil society organisations took full-page ads in four Bahraini newspapers to "defend culture and creativity." The members of the commission are Ebrahim Al Hadi, Ebrahim Bu Sandal, Adel Al Assoomi, Jameel Kadhem, Mohammad Al Mezel, Abdul Halim Murad and Nasser Al Fadhala. Discussing the merits of the probe, lawmakers overlooked calls to calm the situation and named members of Sunni and Shiite blocs to conduct the quizzing of information ministry officials over the staging of "obscene" scenes from a musical interpretation of Laila and the Possessed, a love story written by Bahraini poet Qassem Haddad, with a score from Lebanese composer Marcel Khalifa. The decision to go ahead with the probe despite a series of statements from liberals, intellectuals and artists is set to have lasting ripple effects on the uneasy relations between society and the parliament. Supporters of the annual Spring of Culture festival have charged that the three Islamist societies were seeking to hijack people's minds and impose their views on the country. But Al Asala, Al Menbar and Al Wefaq whose members make up 75 per cent of the Council of Representatives said that they could not remain idle while "the core of Islamic values and the traditions of Bahrain are being attacked under the guise of culture and arts." "We do not oppose art when it is genuine, but we do mind any attempt to erode our religious and social values under any excuse," said Mohammad Khalid, a deputy for Al Menbar. Condemned Earlier, liberals made a last-minute move to put pressure on Islamists before they decided on the probe. "We strongly condemn the attempts by political forces in the parliament to stifle freedoms and creativity guaranteed by the constitution and the national action charter," the liberals said in their statement. "These societies have no right of custody over people's choices and instead of addressing pressing social issues, they are preoccupying themselves with matters that are not part of their responsibilities." Islamist deputies in 2004 forced the MBC satellite television channel to cancel the production in Bahrain of an Arabic version of Big Brother featuring twelve housemates, six men and six women, from around the Arab after they claimed that the show flouted Islamic traditions. gulfnews.com

  15. Somali officer killed by bodyguard A police chief in the southern Somalia city of Kismayu has been killed by his bodyguard as Mogadishu suffered another round of mortar attack. Major Abdi Mohamed Abdulle, who had been leading a crackdown on armed men in the port city, was shot dead in his compound. "He was shot at close-range and bled too much. He was pronounced dead on arrival in hospital," Ahmed Abdi, a police officer, said. A second bodyguard and two children in a neighbouring house were injured in the incident, witnesses said. A man suspected of carrying out the shooting has been arrested and taken into custody. Shortly before he was killed, Abdulle gave an interview to a Mogadishu radio station announcing the capture of four gunmen who had been blamed for a string of attacks. Kismayu was the last bastion of the Islamic Courts Union which controlled much of southern and central Somalia until it was forced out by the weak interim government backed by Ethiopian forces. Mortar attack In Mogadishu, a barrage of mortar shells fell on a civilian district after missing their apparent target in the seaport, where an African Union-chartered freighter carrying military equipment was due to dock. A police official at the port said: "The insurgents have fired 13 mortar shells at the seaport, but no one was injured inside here. Most of the shells landed outside the port compound. "There was a small gunfire after gunmen ambushed Ethiopian forces near the seaport, but no one was injured." Relatives said that a bystander had been killed during the attempted ambush. Abdulaziz Mohamed, a resident, told AFP news agency that most of the 13 mortars hit a restaurant in the Hamel Jejab neighbourhood. "Three people were wounded - two of them seriously - when a mortar shell landed in a restaurant where I was eating," he said. Near-daily attacks in Mogadishu have been blamed on remnants of the Islamic courts and the interim government says the next fortnight will be crucial in proving it can make the capital secure in time to hold a meeting of clan leaders, elders and former militia leaders there next month. United Nations aid agencies working in Somalia have said that more than 40,000 people fled the fighting in Mogadishu in February alone. AJE
  16. Dont we just love this topic by now Minister gives schools right to ban Muslim veil · Johnson cites safety and security reasons · Headteachers are asked to consult on new policy Patrick Wintour, political editor Tuesday March 20, 2007 The Guardian The education secretary Alan Johnson will court controversy today by announcing that he expects head teachers to ban schoolchildren from wearing the full Muslim veil on "safety, security and teaching" grounds. He will tell headteachers that they will have the right to stop pupils covering their faces under a new uniform policy to be distributed to schools. The policy will be put out to consultation. In practice, few children wear the full veil and the guidance does not appear to stop girls wearing a head scarf. Mr Johnson, one of the many candidates for the Labour deputy leadership, will defend the new policy guidance to schools on the grounds that safety security and effective teaching must be paramount, coming ahead of the tolerance of religious and cultural beliefs of children. The consultation, leaked in advance to the Sun by Mr Johnson, states it will be for headteachers to consult widely among parents before introducing the policy. It will suggest it is for teachers to judge whether the ability to see a child's face is necessary for them to teach effectively and safely. Controversy arose last March when the House of Lords overturned an appeal court ruling that a Muslim teenager's human rights were violated when she was banned from wearing a head-to-toe Islamic dress to school. Shabina Begum, 17, argued that banning her from wearing the jilbab at Denbigh high school in Luton, Bedfordshire, breached her rights to education and to manifest her religion. In November 2006, Aishah Azmi, 24, a Muslim teaching assistant who refused to remove her veil in school if a man was present, was sacked. Mrs Azmi lost an employment tribunal case after refusing a male teacher's request that she remove the veil when helping children in her role as a bilingual support assistant at Headfield Church of England junior school in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. Earlier the leader of the Commons, Jack Straw, caused anger by writing an article in his local paper in his constituency in Blackburn, Lancashire, revealing he had been asking Muslim women not to cover their faces when they came to see him for constituency surgeries. He wrote in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph that he feared "wearing the full veil was bound to make better, positive relations between the two communities more difficult". Asking women to consider showing the mouths and noses could lead to true "face-to-face" conversations with constituents, enabling him to "see what the other person means, and not just hear what they say". He said the full veil had become a statement of difference and separateness, Mr Straw was defended by cabinet colleagues but attacked by some Muslims for undermining the religious integrity of Muslim women and imposing his cultural values upon them. The Protect-Hijab campaign condemned Mr Straw and the subsequent cases, saying they showed "a deep misunderstanding of the significance of the face veil". Backstory In Britain the controversy has focused on the niqab or face veil. Teaching assistant Aishah Azmi was fired for refusing to remove it in November, while earlier Shabina Begum, 17, lost a legal battle to wear the jilbab, a full-length garment including headscarf, to school. In the Netherlands, full-length burkas are banned in some schools and headscarves can be banned under certain circumstances. In France, "conspicuous" religious symbols are banned in schools. Several German states have banned hijabs among pupils. educationguardian

Also is there anything I can do for e.g. I already do wudu every time I come and go from work and I always make fresh wudu when reading namaz in break times during my shifts at work. so cold you tell me what Islam says about this? Walaikum assalam, 1. It would be permitted to work on the check out of a supermarket that sells things Muslims consider impermissible (such as pork, alcohol, wine, or food items with haram ingredients). One’s earnings will be lawful (halal). This is the position of Imam Abu Hanifa (Allah have mercy on him). One should, however, dislike such items in one’s heart: loving that which Allah loves and hating that which Allah hates is from true faith. (For the reasoning, see first appended answer, below.) This ruling refers to doing so in a non-Muslim country or in non-Muslim areas in a Muslim country. 2. It is not permitted to sell such items in one’s own supermarket. If one does, it is sinful. The revenue generated from such sales is unlawful. It would be obligatory to: (a) repent from one’s error itself (through remorse, seeking forgiveness, and determining not to repeat the sin), and (b) giving away the unlawfully earned money to the poor. (See second answer below.) 3. It is not haram to touch unlawful items, especially when there is a need. Normally, meats are wrapped, and the alcohol in bottles. As such, there will be no transfer of filth (najasa) onto one’s hands or body. Given this, there is no need to renew your ablutions (wudu) before praying. It may be best, though, to wash your hands, when it is reasonably easy to do so. And Allah alone gives success. Walaikum assalam, Faraz Rabbani. Source Again this is the Hanifi response and I don't know of what the others like Imam Malik, Shafi and Ahmed ibn Hanabil's rulings are on this point. Thanks for clarifying from one viewpoint. One thing i try to avoid is to make a comment on such things without the relevant information to hand. The point here (and with the taxi drivers) is that THEY think what THEY are doing is right. Our views (informed or not) dont really matter as their intention was/is not to contravene their deen (informed or not) and for that i can only commend them.

  20. I know But this is a nice topic on the KSA  Businesswomen Keen to Play Their Role in Kingdom’s Development Mushtak Parker, Arab News LONDON, 19 March 2007 — Saudi businesswomen are on the march. Emboldened by the policies of a reforming monarch, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, they are keen to play their role in contributing to the Kingdom’s GDP and economic development. Empowerment and gender equality may be largely aspirational at this stage, but as the first-ever supplement of the Top 20 Saudi Companies run or owned by local businesswomen in today’s Arab News shows, they are well on their way. This contribution speaks for itself. The Top 20 Companies listed in this supplement, for instance, employ more than 4,200 people, presumably women. In this respect they are creating real jobs for Saudi women, whose adult unemployment rate ranges from the official 30 to 40 percent to the unofficial 80 percent. The top Saudi company owned and run by women, Al Sale Eastern Company, based in Alkhobar in the Eastern Province, had revenues of SR300 million with assets of SR100 million. Sheikha Nadia Al-Dossary, the CEO and partner of Al Sale Eastern Company, is thus Saudi Arabia’s top businesswoman. The economic power of women in the Kingdom cannot be understated. Women own 10 percent of real estate, especially in major cities such as Jeddah and Riyadh, and 30 percent of brokerage accounts in the Kingdom. They own some 40 percent of family-run companies, very often as silent partners. Saudi women as a whole have estimated cash funds of SR45 billion, of which 75 percent is sitting idle in bank deposits. According to a recent study by the Khadija bint Khuwailid Businesswomen’s Center at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), investment by Saudi businesswomen has reached some SR8 billion, which is around 21 percent of total investment. Women “own” some 1,500 companies — about 4 percent of the total registered businesses in the Kingdom. There are 5,500 commercial registrations of women’s projects, representing 20 percent of businesses in the retail, contracting, wholesale and transferable industries sectors. The scope of this supplement is a wide one. It should not merely serve as a list of the top 20 Saudi companies owned and run by women. It should also discuss frankly the issues relevant to the empowerment of Saudi women in business, industry and the wider economy. If the Saudi authorities need convincing that the country needs a dedicated minister for women’s affairs, they need to look no further than the considerable achievements of many Saudi women in business and industry as highlighted in this supplement’s various articles. Lubna Olayan is suggested by many as the ideal candidate for the first minister of women’s affairs. She has the personality and the drive to make an excellent minister whose prime objective would be to promote female empowerment in all walks of life and to influence and advise the Cabinet accordingly. The asset distribution spectrum of the companies ranges from the top SR100 million to SR84.925 million for Ghassan Al Nemer Factory for Gold and Jewelry, SR15 million for My Little House and the House of Knowledge Schools Group and SR10 million each for Luthan Company and Al-Bashaer School. The revenue streams are more impressive. Al Sale’s SR300 million is first, followed by Ghassan for Gold and Jewelry’s SR67.05 million. The profitability of the listed companies is mixed, with nine failing to disclose figures. Ghassan for Gold and Jewelry reported the highest profit in 2006 — SR6.74 million — followed by Fawziah A. Abdulaziz Al-Tubayyab Trading Establishment with SR3 million. arabnews.com
