  1. Inna Lilaah Wa Innaa Illaahi Raajicuun. Allow inta xaq-darada lagu gumaadey Janadii Farowso ka waraabi. Amin. And misguided souls have the audacity to support such massacres and still call themselves Somali. Nacald baa idinku taal.
  2. Caamir, Lol. And how does this become a conspiracy theory by the Asmara group. If any, these predictions spells the worst for the Asmara group. So I wouldn't think they'll be dishing out such stories, because nothing good would come out of it. PS: Trust me, if they ever do, Puntland would be in the top of their list (Maakhir next? Kidding). Dahia Al Kahina, well said sister. I think you are on point. At least I would've have thought of this possibilities in a way similar to your view. LIQAYE, sxb waa runtaa. Somalia hana hoos joogto amba ha isku qaraxdo ayay Amxaarka wacad ku martay. And for sure they'll make good their evil machinations.
  3. ^^Laba-Xiniinyoodoow, I really enjoyed your interesting story and the analogy you've used. Pretty much what our society is and has been. I have always seen Somalis as you have rightly said in your writing, and some years ago, I remember starting a topic about this very subject. Reading what you've written, it is really amazing how we've both come to the same conclusion. This is what I said in a Camel Milk Debate topic I called: 'Towards Consensualist Somalism?'. Originally posted by J11: Ours is now an upside down world, where he who thinks has been already likened to an animal, while he who doesn't, has been hailed noble in lineage. Our thoughtlessness has become our symbol, our detriment and at last, after centuries of negligence, led to our downfall. For centuries we have technologically remained the same, and almost unchanged in lifestyle, depending solely on the art of escapade. We have never tried to solve any of our problems in direct manner, but by excusing ourselves with the animalistic needs of our livestock; we have chosen to escape from one problem to another. When there is no rainfall or pasture in one place, we move to other places with water and pasture. This is the cycle in which we have socially regulated ourselves. Run with the winds, and maybe, just maybe, our existential problems will, hopefully, go with the winds. During our last few centuries of existence, some other societies across the world, have realised the fruitlessness of being escapees of reality. They decided to settle down and plan ways to confront their problems. They were lucky, because by settling down, the howling winds of the semi-arid lands and the confusing dust of the animals's hoves, often produced while on the trail of fleeing livestock, settled down too. Clarity of vision and of mind became manifest. From there on, careful observation and constant education did yield fruits. Just as the dust has settled, enlightment through education produced scores of thoughtful leaders and individuals. Since humanity is conflict-prone, and neigbhourhoods are created as a result of permernent settlement; laws, rules and regulation were easy to come by. What followed next was social norms, and with social norms came clear role-assignment. With role-assigment came the duty, responsibility and accountability of the leader and the led. This is the outcome of those who settled down. But in the cycle of the escapees like us, the most canning of our elders were at the forefront of cultural negligence. Like the rest of us, they became way-farers and blind followers of a trail of cultural thoughtlessness. Their eldership was based on this very basic knowledge of following and following they have. But it is not their fault that they are followers. In a culture where there is no other option but to follow someone, for some supposed economic benefit, for better or worse, they have adapted very well. Like all who follow, we are following a tradition that seems untouchable or unchangeable, where anyone who is capable of facilitating any kind of change, is denied the right to make approriate suggestions. The chosen elders are, in essence, handicapped from producing influential thoughts that can have potential for social change. The very traditional guidelines, which the elders employ to retain authority and power upon the rest of us, work to limit them to thoughtlessness. And since these guidelines work so well to subdue those who might think, our leaders find it unnecessary to change them. If the elders become endeavourers of social change, they may lose their grip on power, thus they don’t endeavor. I shall not be so harsh at the elders, the problem is not with the traditional elders only; all of us have grown incapable thinking of change or revision. Towards Consensualist Somalism?

  8. A "major tidal surge" that could lead to disastrous flooding is threatening to hit the east coast over the next 48 hours. Tidal surge could cause floodingA flood expert has told Sky News unless swift action is taken "we could have a significant number of deaths." The Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said a surge "of up to three metres is making its way down the North Sea". Announcing the threat to the House of Commons, Mr Benn said the fierce wave "could coincide with peak high-tide". "There is a risk of flood defences being toppled on the coast, particularly in East Anglia, the Norfolk Broads and the coast south of Great Yarmouth, including Lowestoft," he said. Six severe flood warnings have been announced across the region, along with six further flood warnings of lesser severity and two flood watches. Prime Minister Gordon Brown will chair a meeting this evening of the Government's Cobra emergency response committee. Concerned homeowners have been advised to contact a prepared floodline (0845 988 1188), to speak to postcode officials who will be using sophisticated mapping systems to assess individuals' danger levels. Professor Philip Green of the Flood Hazard Research Centre told Sky News: "I would recommend that people living behind high defences, particularly in bungalows, do not go to sleep tonight and have you have checked the flood warnings." Sky News weather presenter Francis Wilson said: "Some time in the small hours of tomorrow morning, exceptionally high waves in that area could cause the flooding the Environment Minister was talking about." Hilary Benn announced the threat"The highest surges will hit Rotterdam tomorrow morning. But some high waves are expected at the time of spring tide, tomorrow morning, along the Norfolk/Suffolk coast and probably into the Essex and Kent coasts." The Environment Agency earlier announced that the Dartford Creek and Thames barriers will close at about 8pm tonight to cope with the expected 5ft (1.5m) surge above normal sea levels. In 1953, scores of people lost their lives to a similar tidal surge. Prof Green said: "This is as bad, potentially as the flood in 1953, during which we had no warning system. We want to avoid those casualties." :: A spokesman for the Environment Agency advised worried homeowners to call the floodline on 0845 988 1188. :: Norfolk police authority and Suffolk police authority are both issuing updated flooding advice on theirs websites. 12. ^^ Talking of feel-good posts, here is something from me : --No cause more just this this. No war more noble than this. Haddaan dhimano geeridu kolbay nolosha dhaantaaye; Dhaqashiyo marbay kaa yihiin dharegtu xaaraane; Nin dharbaaxa quudheed dugsaday dhaqashadeed maalye; Dhashaadeey sugtaa xaajadaad dhawrataa abid e’ Death, if it befalls us, is at times nobler than to life; Contenance and prosperity are things at times forbidden; He whose shelter is shame shall have shame to harvest; Victim will be the children of men who leave duty undone. Dabka nimanka loo dhiibtayee ina dhex luudaaya; Iyo xaajaduu nagu dhudhumin gaal dhafaar cadiba (madowba); Aan ka dhimanno mooyee waxaan dhowranaan jirine; Dhabarkayga maba qaadi karo dhaxalka ceebeed e’. The men who within us walk, with arms of others to keep; And to enforce the infidel’s tyranny measured down to us; Have us nothing else to give except to die in a noble war; Or inherit shame which I have no strength to shoulder. The movement to liberate our Motherland is gathering momentum. The patriotic call to wage a noble war has been loudly heard. Men and women of honour have received it loud and clear and have answered it with an unreserved zeal of commitment. Only disgruntled few remain oblivious to it. The great poet’s resounding words of powerful reminder, has rekindled the flame of patriotism in the hearts of the proud. The best of our people have heeded the great poet’s advice, and have pledged an oath to partake in the struggle. Just like the great poet, we are ready and eager to march to a noble battle. We are the brave and blessed destined to lay claim to the greatest victory in our history. And; Our history will only have golden medals to bestow For we’re the sons of the motherland who bravely vow To fight a war for justice, be gallant and give our lives To protect the honour of our sons, pretty girls and wives To fight for religion and God-given freedom of our lands And for our nation bring victory with united bare hands God stands with us and the devil on the tyrant’s side. It is good against evil, and good will reign supreme. Only the just stand sure-footed in the battleground. Te unjust heathens falter with gripping fear and stand with tembling knees. The just warriors have firedthe first bullet of war and has turned into a flaming missile in the eyes of the unjust heathens. --end mode-- How about that?

  20. Many dead in Afghanistan bombing Prominent opposition MP Mustafa Kazimi was among the dead More than 80 people have been killed or wounded in a suicide bombing in northern Afghanistan, officials say. At least six members of the Afghan parliament were killed in the blast in the town of Baghlan. Other MPs are said to have been hurt. The exact number of deaths is unclear, but the attack is one of the worst since the fall of the Taleban in 2001. Violence has spread in Afghanistan, where thousands of troops are battling the Taleban and their allies. President Hamid Karzai has condemned the bombing in the "strongest terms possible". Bodies The bomb exploded at a sugar factory in the centre of Baghlan town while a delegation of parliamentarians was visiting. Among the MPs killed was Mustafa Kazimi, a prominent opposition figure, a municipal official told the BBC. In addition to the six politicians confirmed dead, several more were injured. Witnesses spoke of bodies littering the scene of the attack. They also described seeing the bomber just before he struck in the centre of the crowd - holding a bomb in one hand, and with an explosives belt around his chest. The identity of the bomber is unknown. Casualty figures varied considerably in the immediate aftermath of the bomb, but the director of Baghlan hospital told Reuters news agency 90 bodies had been brought in. Taleban denial Children were among the casualties, presidential spokesman Homayun Hamidzada told news agency AFP. He said President Karzai "condemned this attack in the strongest terms possible". "This is the act of the enemies of the people of Afghanistan," Mr Hamidzada said. However, a spokesman for the Taleban, who are assumed to be behind most attacks in Afghanistan, condemned the attack in a telephone interview with the Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press. "The Baghlan explosion was not conducted by the Taleban," the agency quoted spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid as saying. In a separate development, the Taleban have captured an important town in the central province of Day Kundi - the third district they have taken in a week, along with two in western Farah province. On Monday night, 60 Taleban on motorbikes and pick-up trucks rode into town, driving out the police and cutting off the main road. But the BBC's Alix Kroeger in Kabul says they may not hold their new possessions for long - as their typical pattern is to mount an offensive, capture a centre and then retreat when police and the army counter-attack. Violence Until now, most suicide attacks have taken place in the south and east of Afghanistan or, less frequently, in Kabul. But the United Nations says the number of suicide attacks is rising sharply, and insurgent violence has also been on the rise in areas of central and even northern Afghanistan which were previously relatively peaceful. The Taleban have not traditionally been active in Baghlan province, although they are known to be broadening their attacks across the country, says the BBC analyst Pam O'Toole. Fighters loyal to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, a former mujahideen leader who is fighting the Kabul government independently from the Taleban, are known to be active in Baghlan, she says.
