  1. Assalaamu Caleykum folks: Few years ago, I heard that there were a lot of Somali kids up for adoption in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. I was interesting in finding out more info and I also had some families who were interested in adopting some of the kids. Would you please share if you have any info regarding this. Thanks.
  2. I been to that city twice in the past 4yrs .. Its rapidly growing by the day .. but I have to say, the people of Ethiopia (Somalis and Ethiopians alike) are the perhaps the least civilized people you will see (education and hygiene). Its rude to eat outside in the public but very common for a grown man to urinate on the side of the street or highway ..
  3. Too good to be true ... if he worked hard for that house, he wouldn't let a a companion reside in there so easly. Just a sincere advice.
  4. Perhaps the most knowledgeable man known to the Somali people. (read about his biography if you can). The days before his death, he came back from the Hajj. The morning of his death, he was fasting The Day of Ashura. He walked to the Masjid for Fajr prayer. His killer(s) waiting inside the Masjid prayed right next to him! Here is the video with details. 5. Did you know that Muqdisho was under Portugese siege for some 40 YEARS?! 40 YEARS!
  6. Blue ... Sister Aaliyah's remarks are not corrections .. its reaffirmation quoting a Hadith ... Sharma-arke ... Using "mubtada" and "khabar" (verb/predicate and subject") ... "ALLAHU AKBAR" is not a complete sentence. In other words, ALLAHU AKBAR is not "KALAAM" .. Example: if I were to say " أحمد أكبر " meaning "Ahmed is bigger" ... that sentence is obviously not a complete sentence (KALAAM). If you tell someone, "Ahmed is bigger" they will obviously ask you "bigger then what?" ... Thus, this type of sentence is called comparative ... the superlative form would be "Ahmed is biggest"
  7. ***Did you know that, linguistically, ALLAHU AKBAR does NOT mean "ALLAH IS GREAT or ALLAH IS THE GREATEST?" ... The word AKBAR in Arabic is in COMPARATIVE form and NOT superlative. Comparative = GREATER. Superlative = GREATEST. One of the reasons is that when in Salah (or simply amazed by something) you say ALLAHU AKBAR, meaning, ALLAH IS GREATER than whatever that amazed you or distracted you from his remembrance ... ***
  8. Assalaamu Caleykum to all: The students on this video hit some good points ... the video is long but you can skip around it ... Enjoy watching ...

The Muslims were always the greatest pioneers in astrology .. these kids are young MUSLIMS .. MEN should be FREE from the PRISONS of their SMALL MINDS!
  11. *Blessed;851446 wrote: ... the reason why Muslims fast is to attain Taqwa. InshaAllah. That's true Blessed ... "TAQWA" is mentioned in the Quran numerous times ... Almost each time that TAQWA is mentioned, it takes on a different meaning depending on what precedes its mention ... So when the Quran gives the attaining of "TAQWA" as the ultimate reason, TAQWA in that verse means PROTECTION ... PROTECTION against many diseases and also desires .. That's why The Prophet SAW strongly suggest men and women to marry when they can, and those who can't should FAST cuz fasting greatly reduces desires thus lust in the fasting person decreases greatly ... WALLAHU ACLAM

Philippus Paracelsus, one of the three fathers of Western medicine "Instead of using medicine, better fast today." Plutarch, a Greek biographer and moralist "The best of all medicines is resting and fasting." Benjamin Franklin "Everyone has a doctor in him; we just have to help him in his work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. ...to eat when you are sick, is to feed your sickness." Hippocrates, one of the three fathers of Western medicine "A little starvation can really do more for the average sick man than can the best medicines and the best doctors." Mark Twain, in My Debut As a Literary Person "Nature heals, the doctor helps!" Paracelsus, writing about activating the "doctor inside", or our own healing nature "Every fool can fast, but only the wise man knows how to break a fast." G.B. Shaw, writer "Humans live on one-quarter of what they eat; on the other three-quarters lives their doctor." Egyptian pyramid inscription, 3800 B.C. --------------------- Modern M.D.s "I believe that fasting is the "missing link" in the Western diet." "From a medical point of view, I believe that fasing is not utilized often enough." ".... fasting is one of the best overall healing methods because it can be applied to so many conditions and people." "Fasting is the single greatest natural healing therapy. It is nature's ancient, universal 'remedy' for many problems. Animals instictively fast when ill." all from Elson Haas, M.D. in Staying Healthy with Nutrition "Due to [the] effects of fasting, a fast can help you heal with greater speed; cleanse your liver, kidneys, and colon; purify your blood; help you lose excess weight and water; flush out toxins; clear the eyes and tongue; and cleanse the breath." James F. Balch, M.D., in Prescription for Nutritional Healing "Therapeutic [water] fasting accelerates the healing process and allows the body to recover from serious disease in a dramatically short period of time." "Fasting, combined with nutritional competence, removes the most significant causes of disease." "Therapeutic fasting is not a mystical or magical cure. It works because the body has within it the capacity to heal when the obstacles to healing are removed. Health is the normal state. Most chronic disease is the inevitable consequence of living a life-style that places disease-causing stressors on the human organism. Fasting gives the body an interlude without those stressors so that it can speedily repair or accomplish healing that could not otherwise occur in the feeding state." "The job of fasting is to supply the body with the ideal environment to accomplish its work of healing." "The body's wondrous ability to autolyze (or self-digest) and destroy needless tissue such as fat, tumors, blood vessel plaque, and other nonessential and diseased tissues, while conserving essential tissues, gives the fast the ability to restore physiologic youth to the system. By removing or lessening the burden of diseased tissue, including the fatty tissue narrowing the blood vessels, fasting increases the blood flow and subsequent oxygenation and nutrient delivery to vital organs throughout the body." all from Joel Fuhrman, M.D., in Fasting and Eating for Health "Man is the only 'animal' who persists in eating when he is sick, even though he may have no appetite and food makes him nauseous." "Fasting is a calming experience. It is restful. It relieves anxiety and tension. It is rarely depressing and it is often downright exhilarating." Alan Cott, M.D., from Fasting: The Ultimate Diet "Fasting is the strongest appeal to the human being's natural powers of healing and self-rejuvenation, on both a spiritual and corporeal level." Heinz Fahrner, M.D. "I often observe in the fasting participants that by four days of fasting, concentration seems to improve, creative thinking expands, depression lifts, insomnia stops, anxieties fade, the mind becomes more tranquil and a natural joy begins to appear. It is my hypothesis that when the physical toxins are cleared from the brain cells, mind-brain function automatically and significantly improves and spiritual capacities expands." Gabriel Cousins, M.D. (psychiatry) "Although beginning my practice in fog-covered medical superstition, I came to the conclusion that only nature can practice medicine." "I contend that during illness feeding becomes a burden to the sick. It uses energy that otherwise would be used to fight the illness." both from Dr. Edward Dewey "I must say in all seriousness that fasting when combined with a properly selected diet is the nearest approach to a 'cure-all' that is possible to conceive-- profoundly simple and simply profound!" John Tilden, M.D. "Religious ascetics, who led their lives abstaining from food, came to the conclusion that fasting improved not only their spiritual state, but also their physical condition, and through fasting many diseases could be cured." Dr. Inamura Motoo "I assert that fasting is the most efficient means for correcting any disease." Adolph Mayer, M.D., from his book Fast Cures - Wondercures "Fasting creates a condition of low concentration of toxic wastes in the circulatory system. This is sensed by the plasma membrane of each cell and each cell will then let go of its load of toxic wastes." Ron Kennedy, M.D.
  13. there's the original Juxa version: A friend of his wanted to tick him off so when Juxa approached, he told him "Juxa, I recognized your dameer but i couldn't recognize!" Juxa calmly responded, "that's the nature of donkeys, they recognize each other" ..

  19. by the way, "Somali" is actually not a gene or an "umbrella" tribe or a great-forefather .. it's simply a language spoken by a group of diverse nomads that ended up together in one place on earth ... that group were originally Muslims and came from Muslim countries whether you believe they were Arabs or Persians (both regions (Arabia and Persia)) were Muslim strongholds ... So we were Muslims before we were Somalis ... If anyone has a problem with ISLAMIC names, its just who we are .. Our fathers who are still alive used the Arabic alphabet to write SOMALI before the 70s when the latin alphabet was introduced ... So either we are predominantly of ARAB origin or of ISLAMIC background .. either way, it only increases us in PRIDE ... Anyone who is not proud of that fact can do what michael jackson and his likes did (if you can afford)
  20. Don't you people think that there should be more to names then just a "beautiful" sound and the origin of the name? I thought we named our kids after heroes and heroines ... nowadays you see people searching google for "beautiful" names! ... How low have we come?!
  21. I know this is the women's section but wanted to share this and see what you people think (specially ladies) ... I was at the barber yesterday and the guys were engaged in the average "barber talk" talking about women ... but this was a bit different cuz there were grown men (in their 40s and 50s) talking pretty dirty about women "uncersorned and uncut" ... And some ladies might know this already: the idea that if a man is not seeing different women (even when married) is just not man enough .. I'm not at all surprised by this but what i started wondering was: "IS THIS ALSO TRUE WITH WOMEN?" Ladies, how do you see this? How confident are you that your significant other is not cheating on you?
  22. @QANDALAWI .. dont show any mercy to that dude bro ... He has his own issues .. And sorry this is no place for therapy ..
  23. Heavyweight Boxing Champion Muhammed Ali was visited by his daughters, who arrived at his home wearing clothes that were immodest. Here is the story as told by one of his daughters: “When we arrived, the chauffer escorted my youngest sister, Laila, and me to my father’s suite. As usual, he was hiding behind the door waiting to scare us. And we exchanged as many hugs and kisses as we could possibly give in one day. “My father then took a good look at us. He sat me down in his lap and said something I will never forget. He looked me straight in the eyes and said: ‘Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down and in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You’ve got to work hard to get them.’ “He looked at me again with serious eyes and said, ‘Your body is sacred. You’re far more precious than diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too.’”

  25. Interesting stuff bro ... The best dream interpreter that the world has seen to date has to be Muhammad ibn Seereen (Siiriin) ... There is a book attributed to him (tho he did not author it himself, a lot of the content in there is from him). Here is a link and hopefully you can read Arabic http://www.Mktbtk.com/***/ser/d-0004.html
