  1. ^ Some Web sites say Prime Minister Gedi now opposes Puntland's "right" to explore dhulka Soomaaliyeed: "TFG oo ka xayuubisay DGPL xuquuqdii Shidaal Baadhista" - Laas Qorey Net "DFKMG ah oo ganafka ku dhufatay heshiiska Shidaalka PL" - Garowe Online Now, GENERAL DUKE, "if" this story turns out to be true, I expect you will support the TFG decision as you've always done, correct? ART - Range Resources is not funding an airport in PL. They're funding a war between brothers. Both Range and her cohorts/followers will loose their war against the Somali people. That's all you need to know.

^ Don't dream on it. Pistons will prevail but Miami Heat is waiting for them. That's the match-up I'm dying to watch. Spurs...I'm not so sure. Game 6 is in Dallas. If the Spurs tie the series (that's a big "if"), then they might turn the series around in their favor and face the PHX Suns in the West Finals. We shall see.
  3. ^ Adeer, its looks like ina Riyaale might succeed in his political stunt, after all: Guurtida Beesha Galbeedka Burco oo Taageero isla garab taagtay Muddo kordhinta Golaha Guurtida - SomalilandToday.net Thusfar, he has worked to divide the land into "pro" and "anti" camps. But, from a strictly legal perspective, the SL Times editorial is right on the money.
  4. Only an incompetent, under-educated m.oron could sign on to a deal that's so detrimental to himself/his people. But what else have we noticed about Cadde's leadership style? DUKE - Listen, PL can back down peacefully or the clans can resort to militias. Cadde's choice. But I guarantee you that no clan or sub-clan in Puntland will want its land explored and/or toxic waste dumped, simply because CADDE SAID SO! Which is you're excuse for blindly supporting everything Cadde or Col Yeey say. Secondly, you're so convinced that Cadde will use funds from Range Resources for the socio-economic benefit of PL (as both parties claim). But consider this: 1. Range Resources executives have publicly spoken about the nearly $300,000 monthly payment they make to the PL gov't. Has Cadde or Afqurac spoken about this? No. 2. While Range/PL leaders (+ biased media) used cheap propaganda to tell us that Range would fund Garowe airport, the sad reality is that Boosaaso's airport hasn't been completed yet! 3. Where does the revenue from Boosaaso port + taxpayers go? I haven't seen the Cadde admin build a single school, renovate a single hospital, have you? So how come he hasn't used PL's own money (instead of "what if" money) to fund things that are for the social and economic benefit of PL? The list goes on. He switched the debate in PL to the Range deal while he and his cronies continue to rob the hard-working citizens of PL earning an honest living. Neither corruption nor nepotism is new to Somali politics. But a soft leader like Cadde brought something new to Somalia: selling the land Allah SWT bestowed upon the Somali race to the cheapest Gaalo bidder around. A disgrace and history will show him as that.
  5. A rare "letter" that takes into full account pressing social, economic and political issues in Somaliland. Not the typical robot-like writings from that region. "But what are these political hiccups? I am not sure there is a soul who identifies with Somaliland who will not acknowledge the spread of these perversities. They include endemic corruption; naked harassment of the media; complete absence of policy (meaningful or otherwise!); unprecedented mass addiction to khat and nicotine; political inertia that partly stems from miss-governance and leadership in absentia. In short Somaliland seems to be lost in grave darkness. Either the light is slowly but systematically being extinguished or a projected façade of determination is fast being uncovered. Either way, Somaliland’s case is crumbling from within." More @ A letter from London: Is Somaliland at the End of the Road?
  6. "Canada's like: What's going on, eh?"
  7. This senseless round of violence in Xamar would be based on "ideology" if war/druglord Indhocade wasn't directly involved on the side of the Courts. Indhocade is as bloody and evil as other warlords Qanyare, Yalaxow and the rest of the goon squad. Indhocade's involvement is not religious, for he is well-documented by the U.N. for owning vast drug farms in L/Shabelle region. Simply, war/druglord Indhocade is supporting his clansmen, who are a majority in the Courts. Let's not kid ourselves.

  10. ^ Did I say Iran can match America's military might? No. But America isn't the world's first "superpower." Others came before it and collapsed. Secondly, America does not want to talk with Iran (thus, disregarding Iran's letter). They made up their mind as soon as Iran made up its mind about switching its currency in oil/natural gas trade from the U.S. dollar to the euro. That's a real threat, not to American military power but to America's greater global economic influence (a threat to the dollar: the basis of American Capitalist society). You need to get that. Buchanan's love letter to the redneck community isn't going to change that fact. p.s. You respect a redneck who publicly calls for the deployment of American troops at the U.S.-Mexico border? LOL
  11. To do something for/about Muqdisho, you must have guns. "Ideas," while noble, become useless when blood continues to spill. I hope we can all keep Reer Muqdisho in our prayers. About the Seattle Times comment: The Times published a news item yesterday via the Associated Press (AP). Of course, they published it meaning they believe in its contents. But no matter how Western media spins the fighting in Xamar, its quite evident the public's support lies with the Islamic courts. The warlords say there are "terrorists" in Somalia and Western media NEVER question who the real "terrorists" are because, simply, anyone who says he supports an Islamic government is "Taliban-like" and a "Muslim extremist." The real "terrorists" ARE - and have always been - the warlords who have terrorized Somali men, women and children for almost 16 years.
  12. You must ask yourself: For whom did Mr. Buchanan write this piece? The rednecks in Kentucky and Texas, of course! They must be convinced that if a war started, "superpower" America will crush Iran into submission because those Persians (like the Pashtuns and Iraqis before them) are no match for Anglo-Saxon superior military power on the blind drive to total global hegemony. A comment to convince Rednecks that Iran is scared of America: If she [iran] did want war with America, all the old ayatollah had to do was continue holding those American hostages after Ronald Reagan raised his right hand. He didn't. As Reagan recited the oath, the hostages were clearing Iranian air space. In this regard, Mr. Buchanan intentionally fails to mention two things: the fact that negotiations were ongoing for a long time + the other reason for Iran's softening stance on the hostage crisis: an invasion by Saddam's Iraqi army, supported by American pres Carter! That's a huge point to miss but, of course, for the sake of making the rednecks happy, its better to mention how macho Reagan was and how "terrified" the Iranians were of him, blah blah. To Mr. Buchanan's credit, however, he writes: In all those years, Iran has never attacked the United States and has been tied to but one terror attack against us: the Khobar Towers 10 years ago. No evidence has been found that Iran had any role in 9/11, the first attack on the World Trade Center, the suicide attack on the USS Cole, or the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Tell that to Western media spin-doctors!
  13. The Islamic Republic of Iran has never recognized the State of Israel, so its not just President A/nejad's policy. Its been in place for decades. Secondly, Pres Bush's no-response to the Iranian letter signals what Russian Pres Putin said in his State of the Union address (posted on another thread): Originally posted by Libaax-Sankataabte: ``We are aware what is going on in the world,'' he said. ``Comrade wolf knows whom to eat, he eats without listening, and he's clearly not going to listen to anyone.'' Clearly, the wolf (USA) will not listen to Iran, the Security Council or to anyone else. The USA will do what the USA has to do to stop Iran's plan to switch from the dollar to the euro as its currency of choice for oil/natural gas exports before the end of 2006 (perhaps as early as this summer). That's the real reason behind Washington's increased political/military beef with Teheran. Israel simply wants to see another Mideast foe crushed. One down (Iraq), "X" more to go...
  14. Hmm...a whole lot of jibber-jabber but nothing clearly showing how Iranian President Ahmedinejad "blinked" first. Ahmedinejad simply attacked Bush's policies in the letter, including the bogus evidence to invade the independent nation of Iraq [evidence that mirrors the rationale being used today for the possible invasion of Iran in the future]. Now, how can one see that as a "blink first" scenario? Tehran's policy has thusfar only strengthened its position on the world stage - the UN Security Council is divided on how to deal with Iran. Neither Russia nor China is convinced by the West's bogus claims on Iran nuclear weaponry. If anyone "blinked first," it was the U.S. in Sino-American relations. Read: U.S. Denies Taiwan Leader Overnight Stay Here - May 3, 2006, New York Times ALSO... The scenario posed about Israel launching guided missile attacks against Iranian nuclear sites (as happened against the Iraqis in the '80s) will only justify Iran's right to exist and defend itself against foreign military aggression. It is an act of war against a country that poses no clear threat to int'l security. So what Iran's leader talks tough? Because he talks tough, they know not to mess with him. Did we want all the Muslim leaders to be submissive and bend over for Bush (like most of those despicable maryoweyn cowards have been doing for decades)? Secondly, Iran has more muscle and leverage in many places that are of strategic interest to the U.S./West and Israel including control of Palestinian, Iraqi and Lebanese resistance groups, a military alliance with Syria, etc. I guarantee you that an attack on Iran will not be limited to Iran only. It will spread faster than a California wildfire throughout the entire Mideast. Allah forbid.
  15. ^ Exactly, how did President Ahmedinejad "blink" first?
  16. Shabelle, as usual, reporting everything negatively. If Reer Baydhabo wanted Puntland militias out of their land, they would've expressed themselves publicly, as they did with two recent rallies (1 supported Col Yeey's 15-day ultimatum, another supported TFG parliament's vote for Baydhabo as capital). But, naturally, Shabelle feels inclined to write: Hadal heynta ugu weyn ee magaalada Baydhabo ayaa maanta noqotey maleeshiyooyin fara badan oo reer Puntland ah oo soo gaaray magaalada Baydhabo, taasoo shaki weyn ku abuurtay dadka magaalada Baydhabo. But their politically-motivated tirade against the TFG goes further, and they write: Warar ayaa sheegaya in maleeshiyaadkaan reer Puntland ay la socdaan ciidamo Ethiopian ah, inkastoo aan si dhab ah loo xaqiijin. Why publish self-admitted "unconfirmed" news? Because they have a motivation to tie Puntland to Ethiopia, the "arch-enemy" blah blah, all the while Ethiopian military men - and their American masters - fly in and out of Jowhar and Muqdisho (Daynile), and have been directly involved in the ongoing Xamar conflict. Its boring to read that every time Puntland militias make a move, it was with the help of Ethiopian soldiers, according to these warlord media outlets. But this takes the cake: Si kastaba ha ahaatee Dhaq dhaqaaq ciidan ayaa maanta laga dareemayay magaalada Baydhabo, iyadoo Maleeshiyooyinka Madaxweyne C/laahi Yuusuf ay isku fidinayaan magaalada Baydhabo iyo qeybo ka mid ah gobolka J/dhexe si ay ugu sii ruuqaansadaan magaalada Xeebta ah ee Kismaayo . Wow...they went from reporting "unconfirmed" news to predicting the future. Good journalism!

  19. To Adeer TOLTOY: This question is per my earlier argument that politicizing the role of the "elders" [Guurti in SL] has the potential of attracting [politically-motivated] criticism that might/might not hamper them from properly carrying out their important duties, including the monumental task of keeping the peace. In light of the recent Guurti vote for a 4-year term extension, a debate of the legality of such an act has already sparked on SL's internal political scene. In Jamhuuriya's commentary, they conclude as follows: "Si kastaba ha ahaatee, mashxarada guurtida ee xiligan, waxay qolofta ka riddi doontaa karaamadii duqayda isla markaana iyagoo la mid noqon doona goolihii wakiilada ee hore ee dhig dhexda qabsaday, mana noqon doono mid bulshada taageero looga helo." How can the House of Guurti continue to carry out its duties in light of a political debate of this kind? Remember, their legitimacy [and even honor] has already been put into question.
  20. The vast majority of the women rappers see and deal with in their daily lives are hoes. No question about it. So what's wrong with rappers speaking about their personal experiences with these women? Rappers will say their music has no effect on people's behavior, That's true. No effect whatsoever. The idea of blaming rappers for others' behavior is equivalent to parents who blame videogames whenever their psycho kids shoot up schools. Nonsense, I say. Nonsense!
  21. Ah, el DUKIE - This is the hypocrisy I can't stand. While you are by far SOL Politics' most adamant supporter of anything-Puntland, you seem eager to post every firefight in Muqdisho, hundreds of KM from Puntland while conveniently overlooking the firefight in Boosaaso, Puntland's money-maker. Let me do the equation in your mind: 1. Boosaaso + firefight = bad image for Puntland [DO NOT PUBLISH] 2. Muqdisho + firefight = bad image for Muqdisho [PUBLISH] The reasons: Boosaaso can't afford a bad image, especially since the Puntland president wants to convince potential investors that Puntland is "safe" for investment (natural resources issue). Conversely, reporting every bullet in Muqdisho advances Cabdullahi Yusuf's argument that Muqdisho is a no-go area not suitable for government HQ. p.s. The same SBC website reported today's fighting in Boosaaso. Can you kindly explain why you pick-and-choose which news items are worthy of being posted numerous times by you and which ones should be overlooked? Thanks.
  22. ^ Oh shoot! DUKE, you're right (for once!). This is so unnatural to me. Wait...I think there's a teardrop in my left eye.
  23. Powerful example. I am deeply humbled.
  24. I see TFG super-minister C/risaaq Jurrile in the picture. Jurrile has been quiet lately. I wish we could say the same about Puntland's own super-minister Cabdi Awaare.
