Egypt cannot comprehend why the DAM construction  is going 24/7, but meeting cannot.

Egyptians wanted World Bank mediation NO

Egyptians wanted Sudan excluded NO

Egyptians wanted French companies analysis speed up NO

And now no meeting either.

galbeedi,

Egypt and your Oromo have to thumb on desk, you just have been outplayed for now, tomorrow is another day.

Tallamook,

Here we go. Why Ethiopians not in a hurry for PM. Possibility of PM returning is open. Parliament might reject his resignation. Wouldn't that be funny joke on Egyptians. The Tigray are 17 Egypt 0 in last 150 years. Amhara best friends of Egypt in a sandwitch not to be eaten. Oromo new client ddeer in headlights

Why would any Ethiopian government (Oromo or otherwise) cancel a future cash cow for the government?

The second agreement emperor minelik signed was with the British empire 1892:

1. Not to do any work on Nile

2. Prevent any ethiopian king or governor doing any work on Nile

The Egyptians filed this document at UN in 1945 the day they became member. Meles invalidated it since Menelik had no crown authority to do that without concurrence of the king of Gojjam where Tana and Nile are.

They had an argument with Mubarek, that is when Mubarek threatened a project called Tana Beles 430MW and Meles told him come and stop it.

OO, what would an Oromo or Amhara PM gain out of stopping a project that would create income for the central government? The construction money is already spent so there is not much spending-cut to be gained by halting GERD at its advanced stage.

You not giving us the details? :)

The problem now is not construction of GERD that is done, few corners left and Egypt will not stop it, but if Egypt succeeds in chaos, the next PM can agree to fill the dam in 7 years which means 7 years 4.8 billion just waiting sitting there.

The main problem now is filling it. That is when the Nile maybe reduced temporarily.

Sudan has said fill it as fast as possible.

If Ethiopia has its way it will fill enough to start generatin in 2 years and the complete fill in 3 years.

Example: Mengistu from Zimbabwe (through his daughter since he is not allowed to involve in anything about Ethiopia) issued a statement and video stating that "GERD is Weyannie conspiracy to start war with Egypt"

Weyannie answer was " We are not hurting Egypt, no reason for war. We are also not cowards like you and see our people starve. The Egyptians also know us as much as you do with your 1/2 million army in north"

Mengistu would be ready to fill the dam in 10 years as long as Egypt helps him overthrow Weyannie. And children of mengistu are many and would not hesitate.

Thanks for clarifying. You are correct. There are always internal enemies willing to do the bidding for foreigners.

I am surprised Mengistu is still agitating things behind the scenes. Why didn't the TPLF hunt him down in Zimbabwe? He starved 1 million people and got away with it.

Mugabe had sworn to it and had kept his word in completely keeping Mengistu as house prisoner.

In the beginning some fighters wanted to go and kill him there. A group was caught, but was simply sent back to Eritrea and Ethiopia (mixed group).

The government of Ethiopia had agreed with Canada that to avoid war in Addis Ababa the solution was to give asylum to Mengistu that way collapsing his government. That is what happened. No matter how infuriating agreement need to be honoured. The US also worked with Canada.

But unfortunately the guy who had vowed to hand Mengistu to face justice also died Changrae

The new guy will keep Mugabe's word since the army folks are the same.

Ethiopia has made diplomatic representation, but that is it, even that was not put in the news.

America is very serious it was not just saying the right thing to both sides

America is against the State of Emergency

There was a plan that was simaltaniously expected to explode in 10 major cities to bring down the government. Thanks to electronics and probably the Chinese, British may have intercepted it. All other cities was called off, but one Amhara city Gonder has stay at home.

Must have been pretty dangerous to defy America (at least state department). But American officials are also divided some have been lobbyed by Amhara DC is Amhara city. Israel almost always will be Tigray.

On a smaller scale this is also showdown Saudi Arabia/Egypt and Qater/Turkey

Even what you think a conflict of warlords or tribal chieftains can become international so quickly and easily.

QERO the Oromo Al shabab has only one call now. Make the Oromo president PM of Ethiopia otherwise we will kill you.

Amhara is of course still in confusion. They think they can take power from Tigray at any time future, but once it goes to Oromo its the end, because language issue is coming next immediately.

It is official. The era of despot Cabdi Illey is over in the Somali region.
After closed door deliberations, the DDSI party had elected Mr. Ahmed Shide as the new leader which officially ends the 11 year painful rule of Illey.
This selection will pave Mr. Shide as the new president of the region very soon. Also, the Liyu police has been disbanded as the security force of the Somali region. For the last few days the Liyu have been looting and pillaging communities while abandoning their positions.
Also, members of Illey family are been investigated by the authorities for the theft of millions of dollars.
It is an end of a painful chapters for a lot of Somalia. A very small group of blood thirsty group,  created and organised by the Tplf and Cabdi Illey have been overthrow thanks to the Oromo uprising. While many Somali including my self were looking to preserve the old order for the sake order and continuity, millions of Somalia want the total demise and the removal of the tyrants who oppressed them for so long. Just like the Oromo celebrated the demise of the Tplf order, for the millions of Somalis the end of Illey and his henchmen is a great relief and a new era of freedom.

There were some security concern about the disbanding of the Liyu police and the threat of anarchy and outlaws in the countryside, yet for most people, their disbanding was a relief. Analysts believe that the Liyu is too criminal or murderous to be a force that might fight for independence or even tribal reasons. They were trained to kill and abuse Somali and will not be needed in a land where people are seeking justice and freedom.
It is mind boggling how a small ruthless group had managed to oppress and control millions of Somalia for so long. They acted like there is no one else but themselves.
Now, Illey and his supporters must accept the new order and collaborae for the peace and development of all Somali. He and Tplf wanted to finish off the Somali and createa long  civil war between the Somali and Oromo. There were a lot of victims, but we hope the worst to be over. He gambled to the lives of thousands of Somali to save the Tplf order. After he lost the gamble, he continued to the destructive route until it is too late.

      Very sad news.

Nothing is known yet from the police, but the media is reporting that he died from gun shot and the hand gun colt has been found in the car.

      galbeedi,
Why didn't you bring the most important news for you, the oil well to be drilled announced by Abiy?
Why this go around to bring civil war among Somalis? What do you gain?
Why is the area where the pipeline to pass more useful to you than the area where the prospective well is?

Why cover with Iley why not say the main motivation for you the trade route?
