Prime Minister Hailermariam Desalegn Resigns

Recommended Posts

Who are the early favourites to become next Ethiopia PM? •Debretsion Gebremichael, elected as leader of the powerful TPLF back in Dec.; he is said to be a “hardliner”. •Abadula Gemeda, Speaker of Parliament who resigned last after being “disrespected” but was reappointed again.

Che, ninkaan Tigrey ma ahayn awalba ee maafiyada Tigrey wey u dulqaadan jireen maadaama Sanaawi ku xigeenkiisa ahaa. They got an opportunity to get rid of him and re-appoint one of their own again; however, they don't realize Xabashi land has changed forever. Qiiqa is out of the bottle, no more Oromadii la iska gumaadi iyo gumeysan jiray by Tigrey minority.

This is why also Cabdi Ileey desperately wants to reconcile jabhadda ONLF using tolkiisa cirka iyo dhulka ka keensaday u kala harin in Nayroobi maxaa yeelay xaalka ayaa xun. Some of madaxda ONLF  Nayroobi ku sugan wey ku ceeboobeen, even though tolkooda cadaadiye. Shame on them meeting with Ileey, let alone reconciling with the Xabashi stooge.

MMA,

You are right the genie is out of the bottle. It will be difficult to put it back in. This could go one of four ways, Woyanes can appoint one of their own, a hardliner. They can appoint someone from OPDO which is willing to work within EPRDF. They can lead the country into chaotic end. Or they can ensure an orderly transition.

Whatever the case might be, I really doubt that they want to live Oromo or Amhara government. As for Iley, it really depends what ONLF wants and how much military and financial powerthey can gather.  But Somalis need to be ready for any eventuality/

We are now witnessing the start of the long waited fragmentation of Ethiopia.

To unite the Somali home front before the big bang is wise thing to do. Mr ileey is right to reconcile with ONLF. That will stengthen him, as his security forces will be needed protecting Somalis from the madness of the Oroma lynching mobs.

Yoniz,

Let's not get too excited :-)

If Ethiopia does fragment, I hope it is not violent. Imagine even couple of Ethiopians fleeing to Somalia.

Che,

I would love Ethiopia to have the kind of the Czechoslovakia disintegration.

However, that is not the way events

are unfolding, it will be bloody and to say the least very ugly. You don't choose how history is played.

Somalis need crazy guy like ileey to act tough and, some other wise politicians that can complement him. We are in a better position than in May 1991.

Just wondering what made him to resign this usually happens in africa  only when they are  pressured to resign examples Mugabe and Zuma.

Maybe tigray want to bring someone from Oromo or Amhara to calm things.

Yoniz,

We will find out soon enough. Just realized the Deputy Prime-Minister is Amhara guy.

Che,

Maybe he is galbeedi's friend or ally.

I think that is most likely going to happen is Deputy becomes prime minster then in couple of months they may have a conference since now except for Amhara all have finished their conferences.

ONLF I think will play very constructive role in reconciling the Somali kilil sincerely since the current situation is 1/2 ONLF is already in the kilil, but the rest half needs to realize and no time for face saving this or that.

The Somali and Afar had meetings and are both in best situation for anything. Oromo is in worst shape because Addis Ababa is there close, but do not control.

The Oromo will reconcile and quiet their people, that is what is being gossiped. Not sure wether its Illey or Haj Siyum (Afar) but the Oromo and Amhara have been warned either keep law and order or call federal government fast else will start process of winding down.

Observer,

Considering the history of Ethiopian politics which is complete domination of one ethnic over all other nations, how likely it is for Tigray to leave under Amhara hegemony? The Amhara still harbor the fantasy of Amharazation of Ethiopia.

Oo

amhara are unacceptable to us. I want tplf out doesn’t mean I want Amhara who are our real enemies. They are the real colonials. Tigray guy  is not acceptable to Oromo or swapping the two groups is not an option. The Oromo time is up.

What at a big news talk to you guys this evening after work

Oodka,

Th Yankees will try to limit the damage. However, there will be no functioning Ethiopia with marginalised Oromo. The Gini is out of the bottle, the under table agreements and, Tigre-Habashi qori iskudhiib will not cut with Oromo this time.
