The Dilemma Facing the Jaarso and other Oromonized Somali Tribes

Recommended Posts

I had  a discussion with Galbeedi. From what he says, there are considered to be Dir Somalis but regardless, their politics  was misplaced when they threw their support with Oromo.

That said, they are actual lost Somali tribes who have no sense of Somali identity. They may not consider themselves Somalis but Oromos do know who is who.

Yaa dir ah? Yaa Hawiya ah , all these are just fairly tale creation,

Doing DNA testing Somalis and Oromon are very close.

waxa kale la qor qoro la isku geegeeyey waa 100% myth and has little truth.

Siyad Barre understood this and wanted to Somalize all Oromo as Somali Abboo

This is a naked oppression. Gacan ku dhiigle Cabdi Ilay just wants to uproot the very confused and bilingual Somali clan of Jaarso by labeling them Oromo.

Maakhiri,

It doesn't matter who is related to who genetically?  What matters how people identity themselves, their cultural, linguistic, religious and politic constructs. And in the case of the Jaarso, identity carries real consequences.

Maakhri,

The Jarso are Somali by ethnicity a 100%.

I do not want to write here the whole tribal genealogy , but their roots go through the Dir can. We the Adwalites are Madalug Dir, and the Jaarso are Madaxweyne Dir.

The Jaarso live inhabit : Jigjiga, Jinacsani, Babeli,Tuliguleed, Hadow, Dhagahle, Bombaas, Fayanbiro, Fayan Hujubo, Ordo,Kombulsho, Gursum, Diri dawa, Dadar,Qulubi, Ejersa Goro, Harar, Haramaya, Baali, Hawaday, Awash Part of Oromia Region and also live in the border of kenya.

The Horyaal Democratic Party was founded by the Dir Jaarso clan and Awadal clan,s their area of influence straddles the Somaliland border and incorporated the Dire Dawa, Jijiga,Jinacsani,Ajersa Kora and the Awbar zones.

As Suldaan Will Waal said the other day, there are over two million of these Somalis who adopted Oromo language in their area. If you visit between Harar and Dire Dawa you will see the so called Warro" Somalis who live in these lands.

Those who live around Jijiga , Jinacsani And Tulli area exclusively are Somali speakers as those in the clip Cali Xadhaadhe interviewed, Yet these Jaarso Somalis had made huge miscalculation and historical decisions that will affect their future within Ethiopia and the Somali region of Ethiopia.

Cities like Fayaanbiire with a large Somali population has joined the Oromo zone in order to escape the Somali " Geeljire" oppression who were running the Somali zone. A town like Jinacsani which is less than 30 km to the Somali border became the Oromo Zone. these places were part of the Somali zone until the so called referendum of 2004. The people killed inside Oromo zone are mostly the Somali Jarso and others who are ethnic Somalis.

Somalis have the habit of escaping from one minor oppression to a bigger one, rather than show some patience and perseverance to overcome the problem. The Somali tribal rebels complained about the minor oppressions of Siyaad Bare , and went to MInguistu Hailemarium , one of the bloodiest dictators of the twentieth century who murdered 60 generals thousands of officers and tens of thousands of civilians, which brought us today the mess we are all trying to get out.

The Oromo people have flooded Hargeisa, Borama and Djibouti for the last 30 years. In Somaliland , there are almost 100,000 Oromo population. So the Somalis in Hararghe region are also flooded by large population growth of the Oromo, yet if you look back in early fifties oe even sixties, these were Somali regions.

There was a poem which was authored by a Somali in late fifties which said:

Goorma ayaa Hobyo, Herar( Dooxa herar Hargeisa)

Iyo Hawaas isku hiilin doonaan.

The Jaarso must reverse that referendum and stay with their Somali people despite the hardship they had faced from Illey and company.

Here is the Jaarso businessman from Jijiga who was kicked from his hotel and taken to Jinacsani.

galbeedi,

The destination of all this conflict will be Dirdawa. Now its a federal city/region into itself, not because its too big for a region, but the Somali/Oromo pull push. The Hareri is arbiter. The Somali who is being portrayed as hegemonic, early on is for a long strategy.

Oromo special interest in Addis the other federal city is now a legislation/bill under debate in parliament. What would be next?

In politics your opponent accuses or blames of some thing your opponent is currently doing or is about to do. Why Oromo diaspora is persistently trying to show the Somali is agressor, the Somali has special police force...all this campaign has an objective that is hidden now.

OO,

We know the Oromo that are pushing the Anti Somali narrative. They are the Monarchists who were raised under Emperor Selassie and those who are usually think like Amhara. It is not people like Jawar Mohammed or others. The Somali Oromo issue will die soon. All they need is effective security supervision and separation i some regions.

Dire-Dawa is now dominated by Oromo and those in the City have good relations with the Somali. The former Mayor who was Oromo built Mosques and other amenities denied by the Derg.

I can assure these skirmishes will end either by population separation or peaceful resolution, but the Ethiopian problem is bigger than Somalis and Oromo's.

galbeedi,

I hope you are right and the skirmishes die sooner. It does not benefit either communities, except those competeing for power in Ethiopia.

Yes. I agree Ethiopia's problems are rooted in its formation.

I think the conflict between Somali and Oromo is similar to that of Amhara and Tigray, except the Amhara and Tigray have the Agew between them from Afar area all the way to Sudan. The Hareri is too small of an area to affect between Somali and Oromo. The Hareri also has some influence in Dirdawa.

It may not be to your liking, since the Hareri is just another small Tigray in the area.

Galbeedi, Thanks for the clarification,  but we should not confuse ourselves, these Jaarso chose OROMO over SOMALIS, we should treat them as such.  till that changes.

All that is fact is most OROMO are as dumb and as powerless as shit, else they wouldn't be second class citizen in a country they are majority, Let us now hope these dummies, are not sent to massacre SOMALIS,

What surprises me is how vulnerable they are , and how they are doing a big miscalculations,

You are right. They must renounce the Oromo and build their relations with Somalis.

These people were oppressed for two hundred years  by the Abyssinian empire. Because of their diverse geographical locations  which stretches from west of Jijiga all the way to the border of Sudan. Lage percentage of them are Muslims who want to be free, they also have large christian population and millions who are animists. Most are peasants and farmers who are isolated from other civilizations.

The animists and others who are connected to the Ethiopian system are very dangerous to us. The biggest fear is that the TPLF could direct some of these know nothings against us .

AS many have said , population separation is the best solutions at the moment.

Religion as much as its powerful will not help in forming alliances.  The last thing in the world TPLF would use is religion, that has been proven when the Tigray are up or down.

By the time the Somali and Tigray have opposite interests, Ethiopia no more. I am talking of interest of survival, interest of development, interest of continuity not interest of politicians and organizations that come and go.

The Somali also will not use religion for alliances.

The Jaarso community is confused. Even those in the video would not come out and say "WE ARE 100% SOMALI". All three in Che's video, including the old lady, are ducking the issue.

The Jaarsos need to reverse that historic decision of giving away Somali land to the Oromos and adopting the Oromo language. They need to come back to their community if they don't want to be treated like Oromos. Illey probably removed the Jarso's including the hotel owner from Jigjiga for their own safety because an angry mob was running around the city hunting Oromo members.

Illey did the right thing. Its more humaine the steps he took. It also showed the Somali is in control of his areas relative to the Oromo. But most importantly Illey did not jail the Oromo and brought mob to kill them. He actually calmed Somalis that had lost relatives to the Oromo, to go the legal root.
