Avoiding Another Somali Calamity: Famine

Recommended Posts

galbeedi

If we wait the Somali government or the regional governments, this famine will be devastating like he one in 2011. The Awdal drought of the summer of 2016 became manageable by the efforts of the local and diaspora communities. Aid was delivered by local organizations directly to people without delay.

We must urge the Somali government to use Somali relive organizations on the ground. We have effective indigenous relief organizations in Somalia. Among the best is Mercy international, Amoud foundation and others. Amoud foundation was in our town two weeks ago. Their administrative fee in 9% , that means 91% of the help goes to people. They showed us clips of drought relive delivered to Burtinle, Puntland and other surrounding villages.

Here in the villages of Togdheer Amoud foundation is delivering food for 500 families , and at the end of the clip the head village said that they never had seen any relive like from the government or others.

Remember the old man Siilaanyo and those who looted the public purse are in London for almost four weeks. They suppose to be on the ground.

I think the prime minster should stop worrying about cabinet formation and should start delivering aid convoys immediately to affected area, especially the south west region , Puntland and eastern regions of Somaliland.

Another emphasis should be how to address, and change the way people, lifestyle, like change ,real change, people don't just relay on aid, could change their lives for better.

as for now, help as much as possible

Tallaabo

The old fart Siilaanyo is dying of obesity and the people he is responsible for are facing famine!! What a shame.

God forbid, if I were one of those nomads who lost his animals and livelihood in this catastrophe, I would move to the coast and try fishing. There is no draught in the sea and the fish is still there. The useless government should suspend all the licences given to the foreign fishing vessels and instead encourage our people to go to the sea for their livelihood. It defies logic that our sea is full of nutritious food and the Somalis are today dying of hunger.

Tallaabo, regarding fish, It is the lifestyle change I am talking about, , and it is the radical change,, apart of solution, more other things that can also be don, farming, there is a plenty of food availability at sea, some does not need much effort, laakin dadku waa in ay marka hore maskaxdooda wax ka bedalaan

Look here people from Burco thinking fish is a curse, a food for destitute, unwanted choice, while we know how fish is much better then hilib, geel, alot of waxyigilin, is needed.
