The Economist considered Somaliland 'the country of the year

The heading is misleading as Somaliland is misleading to be a country. The country of the year is Uruguay with its humble President Jose Mojica. Everything is possible in the land of the Skinnies, we can even claim that Mogadishu is the most beautiful and fastest growing city city in the World and President will be the first Somali astronaut to Mars in the year 2016!.

And yet there is a farmer Somaliland Minster on trial in the USA for Piracy and the head of al shaabab is a Somalilander. The statement I just made is factual correct but it is not a fair assessment of Somaliland and it still tells you more about Somaliland then the article above. It is also more than the Economist Journalists know about Somaliland.

wallaahi sometimes wonder if Somalia will eva come into being considering the personalities on line, jealousy and down right shortsightedness.The whole world been peppering thm with billions of $s, unisom ,food,recognition and yet still can't get off their Azzs,and on the otha hand Somaliland getting token help and no where close to what Somalia given....yet what? you see....the world has eyes.

XX...this guy use to live in the U.S and on a short visit to Laskoray ,his home town,he was approached by some pirates from puntland to translate for thm on a ship and it was only one time as translator.U.S gov't got him and couldn't charge him an iota for 5 yrs.Infact he was once released by a federal judge in which the gov't appealed.

Glad tidings, indeed. That a province in Somalia be considered so is incredible, considering Somalia's reputation for the last two decades. We should appreciate what North Somalia has achieved!
