Somalia: The Yugoslavia of Africa

Recommended Posts

The Ankara talks are failing. Somalia will become just like Yugoslavia. The different clans of Somalia are similar to the different ethnic groups that formed Yugoslavia. The big question is, Yugoslavia disintegrated, but will Somalia disintegrate into Sovereign Clan-states?

Will Mogadishu or the "Forces for Union" allow Somaliland, Jubbaland, Puntland and other states within Somalia to have sovereign statuses in the near future?

Slobodan Milošević, the Serbian leader of the Former Yugoslavia once said, "If Croatia wants us to allow them to secede from Yugoslavia, they have to allow the Serbians living in Croatia to secede from Croatia as well."

That's the arguments that's being used today against Somaliland's secession from Somalia, where Unionists clans living in Northern Somalia, mainly Sool, Sanaag and Cayn are arguing that if Somaliland can secede from Somalia, then SSC regions can secede from Somaliland.

Actually thats not the arguement the HAG led govt does not give a few cents about the few districts in eastern sool and eastern sanaag. That was never their argument to begin with they have never suggested that.

Somalia

Slobodan Milosevic was right in saying that, history is proof. What happened to the Croat Serbs? They were forcible expelled from their lands, hundreds of thousands, some killed as well after the defeat of Republic of Serbian Krajina. So it's very important that SSC do not experience such fate at the hands of world powers, no one fears the small irrelevant secessionist triangle which calls itself "Somaliland", but rather the support they could get to start clan cleansing in our lands. Tudjman wanted an ethnically clean Croatia, he got there with US support.

We must avoid war, we want peace guys.

I don't think you can compare SOMALILAND with Serbia because SOMALILAND has never fought an offensive war only defensive. And plus if they wanted to take your lot they could but the opposite has happened. If anything you are the Serbs puffed up with bravado and fake history then slapped back down to reality and now still clinging to a dead dream. The reality is you a have a hostile hag dominated south with migdisho and somaliland that is hostile to you as we'll Walahi I would hate to be in your shoes bad result. Even with a negotiated settlement between SOMALILAND and Somalia which will never happen everything will be split down the middle between the two and we both know if SOMALILAND wanted that it could get it. Bad end result indeed

interesting. balse, i reckon the Former Somalia is more like Iraq (as it was and as it is now). the kurds as the Somalilanders, saddam, the MOD and Puntland as the bogeyman/men et al, 0.5'ers as the marsh arabs, reer Baidoa as the white elephant in the room and the HAG as the shia majority. today, the dynamics are similar but with the following caveats: the shia are on the iron-throne. the sunni bogeyman/men is being squeezed out balse hell-bent on suicide-bombing the f out of everything..:P the kurds are better off and have a bargaining chip because the Turks are at the helm :P. reer Baidoa is still the white elephant in the room and the minorities have become even more irrelevant than before as the big Boys can't decide on a way out of this quagmire.

the game always stays the same, only the outside players change. maybe we need to change the game, so we can change the outcome. what do y'all think?. caajiib. :)

Puntland is attending the Brussels conference as a "separate entity" from the SFG. The Yugoslaviation of the Somali peninsula continues.

A shame I say, the SFG is not exercising its power, it's too weak and ineffective, that game was allowed during the transitional period but it shows that nothing much changed other than the name.
