Dear Malika, you know Nuruddin's reputation among my folks?! right? They say the old man who gets his bread from pornography.

I come from a VERY, VERY conservative family. Let alone a book that contains certain transgressions, they die of associational shame if they get to know their son under a false name is writing these types of stories. But a book need not be about sex or blasphemy, and there is room for some other book. I just feel everything you say -even on politics or culture - will just annoy people if you are candid. And without candidness, no book or story can break into the market.

looooooooool. Several days I have to abandon writing stories because a curious daughter who now learned how to read just likes to sit next to me and starts to read each line I type. Few minutes ago, I have to abondon a story because here she was again...And she gets when I switch to another page. ..Aabo, this is not what you were writing when I came. ...It was saying "why she wondered ..." Can I read that one kulahaa?

No, aabo, that one is for the office, I say embaraased. :D :D

I can see that you too are struggling to understand this but embrace indho- uroon and her indiscretions and forget about equal playing fields. Artists are not interested in changes within society, it is all about provocation, be it our thoughts, ideas or reactions.

Hada kahor baa a wise lady igu tiri dumarkoo dhan waa xyz, only difference is some are licenced and others are not.

I see your daughter inherited the intelligence gene from you. Encourage her to read more by giving her some interesting child literature every fortnight or so. Give her the kick start to become Somaliwayne's next J K Rowling. I sincerely hope you consider professional writing at least to enlighten the Somalis about the issues they rather not talk about.

There has to be a red line, culturally, where if crossed, penalties are handed out, of course, through court of law and judicial process. I don't mean to sound easily offended, but the vulgarity of the tale left me disgusted, Wallee. What next, the 'Verses from the Quran to read when imitating dogs'?

Times like these, my soul reluctantly longs for the rule of YOU-KNOW-WHO!

I don't mean to take a higher moral ground, and I know this sort of thing does occur, after all we are all human, but we are not and we DONT want to be (through culture and deen) the sort of society that publishes and distributes these sort of stories.

That is my view.

We don't need Al Shabaab. But definately we need Somaliwayne's version of Jeremy Kyle.

Masha'ALLAH, she's a quick one, your little one!

Malika and Juxa, I hear you - it's fiction and Abtigiis is a gifted writer, no question, I just found the plot a bit crass.

^^ I did not say you lack values as everyone has values of some sort. But the truth is, without the Islamic faith a lot of the values you hold however sophisticated become irrelevant in the Somali perspective.
