Jacpher Posted June 5, 2010 I think Ucid is taking a huge gamble here with its name. With a high illiteracy rate and consumption of jaad, it's highly likely for people to confuse ucid with u codee. Saalax Posted June 6, 2010 Qudhac , if the positions have been reversed and UCID has much support as UDUB did last elections i don't see why they wouldn't win keep in mind today sahan nor asad is running so those numbers will properly go to UCID aswell , all UCID needs to do is beat Kulmiye in Sanaag,Awdal, Hargeysa, Saxiil and secure western toghdheer - Oodweyne which is very possible. Qudhac Posted June 6, 2010 oodweyne and libaah what you have to consider is that just because alot of people turned out in these rallies it doe not mean this will turn into votes that count why you may ask? well remember its not free voting for everyone only those that took the card will be allowed to vote. i doubt every there has even got the voting card, because remember alot of people will go to rallies as its day out to show support whether you have card or not.. libah the reason Ucid cannot win is because its not taking enough votes from kulmiye side it may take some from UDUB which will be the reason kulmiye may win as its closes rival will lose constituencies to BOTH UCID AND KULMIYE. For the same reason Ngonge don't want Silanyo to win I don't want Feysal to win either...I'm rooting for Silanyo..Happiness in Somali politics lies in activity in accordance with the clan moral virtues.The Somali state leaders are not distinct from their clans-collective politics has primacy over the individual poltics.I'll say Feysal characters are unfit to govern.He simply doesn't get how to control his mouth.He misses the simple rational principle of act like a leader and act as you will like everyone act towards you (talking about rest of Somalia)....I think I agreed with my father in law (also not same clan with Silanyo) that Silanyo is the right guy for the job.Having listened to his diaspora speeches I think Silanyo is an old guy with a wisdom and balance in front of the camera....I'm afraid I will reject Somaliland news if Feysal wins to the point of withdrwaing from it into a quite refuge until Feysal term is up! Saalax Posted June 6, 2010 Qudhac, it's all about securing the regions like i said if UCID manages to have a lockdown on borama - considering the vice president Pro.f Rashiid is from there and the majority of the people who live in that area are the M.Fiin .H.Fa'an so i have no doubt that there will be a strong support for UCID in Awdal, concerning hargeysa region, southern hargeysa as usual will stay loyal to faisal and vote in masses , it's not clear whether eastern/northern eastern hargeysa will vote mostly for UCID or be divided between UDUB and UCID, next stop is toghdheer UCID can easily secure western toghdheer since many there have defected from UDUB, western burco areas will certainly also have a strong support of UCID, next stop is Sanaag, lets just say UCID can atleast manage to pull 40% votes of Erigavo district, another 40% in ceelafweyn mostly from Abdiqadir askar folks, then you go down further to mostly UCID stronghold - read Abdiqadir Hassan Askar, again central sanaag, northern sool, Oog , eastern Garadag will vote for UCID in masses, and then you have the southern saxiil stromghold of Abdirahman Cirro which his group mostly support UCID , so it looks like this elections UCID certainly has a widespread support and a real challenge, don't underestimate the former under- dogs as they might shock/surprise many. Conclusion UCID can beat Kulmiye in Awdal, get atleast 40% of hargeysa region , secure half of toghdheer especially western toghdheer, secure atleast 30% of saxiil mostly from cirros flks , secure atleast 40% of erigavo, secure central regions of sanaag and northern sool - Abdiqadir Askar stronghold , job is done then.
